Horrible experience with Amerigas customer service and responsiveness. I was sent multiple text messages over a period of a few days stating they were delivering our propane to no avail, ran out of propane and when they delivered, we weren't home and so they shut off our service and was not going to reconnect for over a week, totally unacceptable!!!! This has happened multiple times over the past couple months so we're definitely going to get our tank dug up and replaced with another company that cares about its customers. Gas leak - strong gas smell in house all of a sudden. Called Amerigas emergency and they did send out someone (3 hours later after I had to make a 2nd call). At this point it was after 11:00 pm. Technician locked off propane tank so we could go back in house but didn't have the correct equipment to find the leak. Said company would send someone next day. When I didn't hear from company in the morning, I called. Got shuffled thru India call center. Assured me that someone was coming out today. By 3:00 I had to call again - same India call center tried to give me an appointment in 4 days! I insisted on speaking with a supervisor. No appointment was ever booked for today (so first person I spoke with in the morning just out and out lied to me). Supervisor said she would contact my district and get back to me. An hour later and I'm still waiting with very little hope that anyone will actually call me back. Only call center is in India and the local technicians NEVER call to say when they are delivering. If they deliver and no one is home- they lock the tank. So we have paid for propane that is locked up. They want to come for service when we are out of town. This is the worst company you could ever get into business with. We sold our house June 5th 2024. We were paid up until January 1st 2025. We have tried to cancel this account 5 times. They keep sending bills and added late payments. I told them to shove that bill up their ass I was tired of the harassment. I will speak to an attorney tomorrow and take these people to court. I wish I could give negative stars! When it started getting bitter cold out, I realized that the online percentage meter was way off stating we had a considerable amount more propane than we actually did. Our only heat source is our propane central heat, but it was almost impossible to get a delivery scheduled in a timely manner without paying a $300.00 "emergency" fee. I was phoning daily in the beginning, but customer service (when you could get someone on the phone) wanted my name, address, and social security each time (as if I would try to get the propane I had prepaid delivered to someone else?). I should have only needed to give my account number and maybe confirm the delivery address, not let all of my coworkers know my SSN daily! I resorted to sending messages several times a day every day, which were never answered. Eventually a little more than a month after I started my campaign to get a fuel delivery I finally received one. I honestly cannot believe it did not run out before the delivery finally came. I send in prepayments monthly, so it was insulting trying to get a delivery of the fuel we have been paying for throughout the year. A coworker experienced the same exact frustration trying to get a delivery, their delivery only took almost 4 weeks. There were several people on FaceBook that also experienced frustration trying to get in touch with someone to get a delivery and they actually ran out of propane while trying to get propane delivered. I am actively trying to figure out how to switch propane delivery options before my next delivery. Horrible customer service. Speaking with a lady in India who I can't understand. I had to report a leaking valve on the stem. She files it as an emergency and sends a driver out to take a look. The driver only delivers the gas but he took a look and after talking to me like (i'm just a dumb lady. I couldn't possibly know bubbles when I see them). Tim the driver sealed it and locked the tank. Told me I would have to call and schedule a leak check and someone over 18 would have to be home. It's a vacant property so nobody lives there. Anyway, I ask Tim the driver in Mt. Jackson, VA a number to call and he said "that's your problem ma'am. there is no office, that's why you get someone in India who can't speak English." So ol' country boy Tim can't even provide me with a number to call to schedule a leak check with the company who pays him. I finally get a number to call and then speak with Brett or Brent whichever. Since I'm not a customer at this time (i have not signed a service agreement with them). I just bought the house.... a week ago. Then he will not have anyone to come out and do the leak check. "because they own the tank" and "its safe now that it's locked." Ok, Brett, or Brent whichever you are. How is it deemed safe without a proper leak check? So, in order for that leak check to take place I have to sign a 3 year service agreement but according to Brett or Brent in Florida btw its not a contract. lol. ITs a terms of service agreement.....Oh, and I can cancel at anytime but will there will be a cancellation fee. So they think they have back into a corner. Worst scam company. They force you to sign lifelong contracts just by agreeing to buy a delivery. They charge rent on a tank that is already on the property when you bought your house, was already long paid for by the previous owner and myself. They try to say they filled the tank when the tank has not been filled, they make you call India to order your delivery, they never keep records of previous conversations about your complaints, so you have to always start from the beginning of the story to explain it yet again and again that they have been billing me for a fill I never received, the India women who answer the phone never are "Authorized" to make any changes on the account to fix a fraudulent bill, they only have like 2 Americans in the United States that are able to correct mistakes on your account, it takes 10 phonecalls, yelling, to get them to transfer to one of those two Americans. They make you give up and go buy your own tank and a new provider then start billing you $492 and rising by the week and collection company starts mailing you bills and hints of ruining your credit. They have over 5000 Better Business Bureau complaints, all their reviews are very bad, the workers are demoralized, they are an outsourced fraud company calling themselves "Amerigas" when in reality it's "Indiagas." They fired all their American workers except the demoralized delivery drivers who have said "Our company is a mess,i'm looking for another job." They use India because they know there's no workers rights in that country and the workers work for cheap under horrible conditions for half the pay that an American citizen would accept. They closed all their locations, there are signs on the door "Closed to the public." This company has law suits pending. i have been a customer of AMERIGAS for two years now. We've had problems with this company multiple times but what we have experienced this weekend has been the most atrocious experience. We had gas delivered on December 12th. On January 4th at 9am, we somehow ran out of gas. I called the emergency line and asked and was told, that someone would come out to check for a leak and fill the tanks. Someone came with an empty truck and was not helpful what so ever. He left the property and i was told another person was dispatched. That drivers "truck malfunctioned" and no one notified me. I had to call to get that information. Then i was told, once again in the same day, Saturday January 4th, that an emergency team member was being dispatched to my address as we had a snow storm coming, and ZERO HEAT. ONCE AGAIN, no one showed. I had called a total of TWENTY THREE times Saturday and spoke to multiple different people and every other call it was something different. I was told by one representative that a call was placed, and then the next phone call someone says no one put an order in. One of the last phone calls i had with one of your representatives, he LAUGHED at me when i was upset about my home being 40° and i started to become emotional, i was laughed at. That is unacceptable. I was told that Amerigas was focusing on emergencies and priorities and that i was not one. How is living without heat in a snow storm not an emergency? I call Sunday, same situation, I'm told someone's coming. No one came. Not one of your employees can give me a straight answer or give us any assistance. I'm told by an upper management rep to call Monday and see if i could be "squeezed into the route". I call, and i was told i was on the route for that day. No one, once again, showed up. When i called, again, i was told i have to pay a $300 "emergency fee" which was never expressed to me any of the days previously. Instead they tell me "it seems it was already added to your bill". So without any explanation, it prior heads up i am being charged. I have also had to call the customer service line multiple times because the online gauge is incorrect. I call to have your team member fix it and place it at the accurate reading which is "ZERO" and it continuously keeps getting changed. We have been without heat for THREE DAYS in a SNOW STORM. Today, Tuesday January 7th I'm told no one is on the roads today, and that they will get to us tomorrow which based on their habits, is not going to happen. This has been the most atrocious, unacceptable, unforgivable miserable experience i have ever had with this company. And an email to amerigasGMB has already been sent with no response. read more

They took months to deliver my propane, charged me random fees and placed me in automatic delivery without my consent, when only using propane for back up and didn't need this, then threatened fees to remove me from this automatic plan. Placed a random bill for a propane delivery that I have no record of receiving nor did I know I was getting it ( I received an email the few times I did have the propane filled but this time I have no email or record of delivery, only a large bill). I finally told them to come get their tanks after random fees that I didn't know about were sent to collections and told them to send me a final bill. My tanks were picked up on 7/15/25. Final bill was received 7/17/25. They sent me to collections twelve days after final bill. also charged me over $400 to pickup tanks (mind you I had two rusty and very old tanks because they were out of big tanks and said those were temporary but never came back to change them out). When it comes to delivery the delivery guys are spectacular; however, my rating is so low because I made an urgent service call today 3 Dec - simple fix adjust the pressure on my tank so my furnace will function. Earliest they can get me scheduled is the 16th. So I have no functioning furnace on the main floor of my house for 13 more days with the low temps in the 20s. This is totally unacceptable with an elderly parent in my house. I am praying we don't have another major cold snap and that my space heaters are able to bring the temps into the 70s without giving me a 1k power bill. read more

I wish we could give negative stars... I ordered a fill on my tank (25%) on 1/16/25, and was given a delivery window of 1/23-1/27/25. Wednesday I received text AND email saying our delivery would arrive on 1/23/25 by end of day. On Thursday 1/23 I was down to 5% with NO DELIVERY. I went online to my account to update the tank percentage and see if I could put notes or anything on my status. It notified me I could get an emergency fill for $300 plus inspection and other costs between 1/23 and 1/24. I logged off and when I called that night around 6PM I was sent to overseas customer service where they simply read from a computer screen and WOULDN'T give me a direct response as to where/when my delivery was. My propane was due THAT DAY, and you want to charge me $300+ for an emergency fill!?!?! After going in circles with this woman for over an hour I demanded for the 6th time to speak to a supervisor. I was transferred and fought with that guy about getting a priority fill put on my account since it was past 7PM and no body would be coming that day. I turned EVERYTHING OFF to my house, heat (it's been low 30's here) and left my house (dogs stayed home) to spend the night with a family member. On Friday 1/24/25 I called again and got overseas, I simply called to see if there was an update or status, and all I was told was your delivery is expected 1/23-1/27, so you "should" expect it by Monday the 27th. Sunday came and once again I received email AND text saying my propane would be delivered on Monday 1/27 by end of day. I even called the "local number" I found online to see if I could check the status and speak to someone as it had not arrived by 4PM. I got an automated tree that told me my delivery would be here by end of day TODAY 1/27/25. By 5:30PM on Monday I still have NOT received my delivery and when I called to speak to someone they told me "you're not on the route". He then transferred us to another department that could help us. We waited on HOLD FOR AN HOUR, then we were hung up on. My husband and I are LIVID! We have locked our animals up in the house for 2 days waiting for a delivery that evidently will NEVER COME. Our animals are stuck at the house basically ALONE for the past 3.5 days while we have to vacate somewhere else because there is NO HEAT TO OUR HOUSE. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY!!!! This is not even our first issue with them, and anytime you need to call to speak to someone, they are NOT in this country. There is nobody who can or will help us, and after reading these reviews I am surprised they have any positive reviews or business. This is ABSOLUTELY asinine. My family has been WITHOUT heat for the past 4 days. They say they're going to deliver and then we aren't even on their routes!!!!! Horrible customer service, never deliver on date they schedule, and when I contact them, they can never locate my service agreement that I have signed twice and they even emailed me a copy. You can't reach a customer service representative when you call in a timely manner- I am placed on hold for 30+ minutes waiting for the next available agent and then when "transferred" to a representative, only get an automated survey asking if my issue was resolved. Absolutely the worst gas company I've dealt with having lived in multiple states. Avoid Amerigas at all cost! I purchased propane with the pre-buy program for 300 gallons since I used 286 gallons every year for the last two years. I received a past due notice stating that I was $327 past due for 'Other adjustments' and that I had already used up my 300 gallons (over the last month)--physically IMPOSSIBLE since I only have two 120 gallon tanks. I have been with AmeriGas Propane for 16 years. Requested a service call a few weeks ago, I have never requested a service call in 16 years. They should have been here at 8:30 this morning. It's now 12:30 call about 10 this morning they said the truck was en route, call back at 12:00, and they said it's 50 % that the truck will not make it today do I want to take another day off to wait? I have needed to call Amerigas several times this week. 1st there was a strong gas odor in the building, freaking out i called Amrigas and had to answers questions about my account before they asked why i was calling. After calling 911 and having the fire dept come and find out that the tanks are empty and were pulling fumes from them. I called to find out why they were empty since we were on a auto refill. Had to wait for over 45 minutes to speak to the call center again. AMERIGAS never misses an opportunity to disappoint. So much so that there numerous Facebook pages, web pages and otherwise customer complaints devoted to pointing out how bad this company treats its customers. Unfortunately these customers, like me are held hostage to being forced to deal with AMERIGAS. Make no mistake though, like others I will make sure I spread the word on how deceitful and poor the quality of service is when dealing with AMERIGAS. My latest example is the surprise outrageously high service fee that was tacked on to my bill. The charge of $197.00 was added to my bill for some leak test or something. I pay my propane service on a will call basis, I had placed an order for for a delivery. When you do that you're given a ridiculously long delivery window which is usually about two weeks or so. And guess what, in most cases as has been my experience they wait until the end or close to it to make that delivery. Given the cold weather and the need for heat during that period my tank ran out. So they did some leak test, I don't know what was done as I wasn't home at the time so my son was there. Wish I had of been there to question it. The reason I am disgusted is they take your money when you place your order, they come whenever is good for them and in this latest incident they charged my card $197.00 without my knowledge or approval for a service that in the past may have cost around $60 or so. This caused an overdraft on my account. I am so done with this company. I am sure they will say the customer has to approved some long winded obscure service contact that details their policy and charges when they log-in to their website or something like that. Plain and simple, they take advantage of their customers and always have. They have you in a position that you cannot change or otherwise do anything about it unless you can afford to move, buy someone else's tanks or whatever. I have gone to great lengths here to spell out how bad you are because I intend to post this same message on the vary FB pages and websites I mentioned earlier. I may not get my money back or anything else but if I cause you to lose or otherwise not gain just one more customer because they see this it will be worth it. I wish I could rate this company lower. They come out to our house just to do a simple job. We were not home, so they shut off the gas to our house. They shut off all our warm water and our heat which is horrible considering it's around 40 degrees outside. To top all of this we are billed for that one job. We demand that the company doesn't charge us and fix our issue. We keep calling and they keep telling us they'll send someone out--oh--and charge us an additional $200 as an "emergency fee." I have had a horrible experience with Amerigas. I set up appointments and when I called to verify time they told me a different time. Then, I called to verify day before in fear of them changing the again and they of course changed times on me again. Then they went to the house at a time that they didn't tell me and I wasn't there so they just left. I was told I would get calls before appointments. They never did. Customer service is horrible, can't talk to anyone local unless you are signing up for service. Having recently purchased a home that had a propane tank from AmeriGas with a glowing review from the previous owner. Let me state, I would never do business with this company. First, you are greeted by an automated system that repeatedly tells you about their commitment to customer service, yet you are held hostage listening to this garbage for 30-45 minutes, if you're lucky. If it's not your lucky day, you hold for one hour, thirty-three minutes, and 14 seconds; only for the system to say "your local office can not take your call at this time, please try later" and you are disconnected. Should you get through after repeated attempts, whatever you are told never happens. They never follow-up and if you get any information from one person, the next person has no clue. We purchased our 500 gallon tank in February 2008. They never sent the paperwork as requested and promised. After 13 years, they decided to start charging us rent on the tank that we purchased. After several calls (always talking to a different person), nothing has been resolved. This is an utterly pathetic company. It is hard to tell if they are hiding their corruption though incompetence or if they are just plain incompetent. We have canceled our account and switched to a new provider. For a couple of decades I have had propane delivered which through corporate acquisitions became Amerigas out of Fredericksburg many years ago. On 9/3/21 inadvertently and mistakenly $6805.69 was transferred to my account at Amerigas which was intended for another vendor. I recognized the error on 9/7/21 and called. The representative confirmed the error and said that the amount would be refunded to me by check within 10-14 days. No check came. I followed up on 10/6, 11/15 and 12/15 and 20. Always the answer was the same. O 12/17/21 I sent an email stating my claim. To date I have not received my money. I hope that I can find an new supplier, for this is totally unsatisfactory. read more
