We called several weeks ago to get scheduled for propane delivery. They said they could get the delivery done by late last week 3/11 (two weeks after our initial call) Didn't happen. Then they said it would be done by the 14th. Didn't happen. Then they 'promised' 3/15. We ran out of propane that day and the delivery didn't happen. We were now without heat, hot water or ability to use our oven and temps were about to drop to the teens with impending snow. A call to management 'promised' an emergency delivery would be scheduled for first thing the next day but since we had now run out (because of their lies) we would need to be home so they could do a leak check in the house. 'First thing' never happened and the afternoon of 3/16 came with no propane. I had a minor surgical procedure in the city early the next day so we waited as long as we could on 3/16, knowing we would be gone most of 3/17. Again no delivery happened. We drove to the city that night so that I could take a shower for the first time in days before my procedure. They again promised 'first thing' 3/17. We scrambled to find a neighbor (hard to come by out here in the sticks) that could meet Amerigas if they decided to show on 3/17. I came out of anesthesia to the news that because of the snow the night before, all deliveries to my area were being rescheduled to 'first thing' 3/18 to keep their drivers off the road. Now I am 100% in favor of keeping employees safe but:
1 - This would not be an issue if the company hadn't lied about their ability to complete this delivery in a timely manner in the first place.
2 - When we drove home later that day, the roads were not only safe, they were completely dry in our area. Surely they could've sent drivers out later in the day for the emergency calls and not endangered them.
Today is 3/18 and with noon approaching, I think we can reasonably say that 'first thing' has come and gone. Will they show at all today? Your guess is as good as ours since we have not been updated and haven't been able to reach them again. I'm planning on another cold and showerless night/weekend.
I know there are staffing issues and supply issues in every industry right now but if you are not able to reasonably expect to complete a service, don't say that you can. Especially when it results in people being without vital heat and hot water in this weather when they could've called someone else. Because I can promise you, next time we will call someone else. I will also be sure to tell everyone I can that your service is flat out terrible and dishonest. Of course I'll have to do it online since no one will want to be near me as I sit here unshowered for who knows how long.
Update: just found out through an automated update that they are sorry they weren't able to complete delivery today because the ground was too soft?? What? No one has even been out so how would they know? Also, since temps are still freezing that seems unlikely. Amerigas, you are trash! read more
