I truly don't know how this company is still in business! I had been an AmeriGas customer for over 20 years, but this company went down hill....FAST! First, I was on an annual auto-refill for our cooking propane tank, but no annual delivery happened and we unexpectedly ran out of cooking propane. I used to be able to call a local Amerigas office, but I have been told all of them have closed and now we have to call an overseas call center. I talked to an operator that was so hard to understand, I had to constantly ask him to repeat just to figure out what he was saying. Secondly, the operator confirmed I was on the annual auto-fill, and they weren't sure why it wasn't scheduled (ironically, we ran out of gas just 10 days after the annual date). He scheduled a delivery the next day since we were totally out. Two days later, and no delivery, I called again. This time, the barely-speaking-English-operator told me the that my auto-fill was CANCELED due to the fact that they no longer fill 100 lb tanks. Wth? No notice about this - just don't deliver and wait for your customer to run out of gas?? And I would have to pay a $199 delivery/pick-up charge for a new larger tank. Um....no thank you! I cancelled and told them to come get their tank, upon which I was told I would be charged the $199 pick-up charge, as well as a $99 cancellation fee. I...AM...DONE!! I run out of propane with this company every single month. I am on monthly refills, and the drivers just cannot be bothered to drive all the way to my home to refill my tanks. I have to relocate and live with family every single month, but they require that my little dog and I live in my uninhabitable, freezing temperature home until they complete an emergency refill weeks after the scheduled delivery. There is no way to contact Dillsburg, PA Amerigas directly, and this is the worst experience I have ever had with a company. Would never ever recommend to anyone. Absolutely horrible organization. Customer service is not handled in country. We can't get through to anyone that can help! Took over contract with the purchase of our house. Never ever again will we use this company. They charge fees to service and to perform required safety checks on their own tank that we are not allowed to purchase and maintain ourselves. Our tank is 30 years old, the gauge is off (we don't know how much propane is in the tank), the company can't provide safety check records, the company does not care about safety nor customer. Propane per gallon is much higher than competitors, but you can't buy any other propane when using their tank (which you also can't buy). Digging up their tank and starting anew with our own tank and a different company. Stay away from this company. read more

We had a box on our tanks that was supposed to let them know when we needed fuel, but apparently it failed to work. We ran out of gas and called them for a fill-up. It was January & freezing cold! THREE WEEKS LATER, after calling many times...we finally gave up and called another company. They delivered new tanks & fuel with-in a few days. However, it's almost MAY and regardless of Multiple Calls to Amerigas, their tanks are still in my backyard. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! read more

Amerigas has been extremely disappointing. My boyfriend, a decorated combat veteran and full time engineering student at Penn State York, has had issues with getting his propane filled since NOVEMBER. He has run out twice so far and is on the verge of running out again. He has called multiple times, WEEKS ahead of this occurring and is given the run around. He has a broke gauge on the propane tanks outside of his home and the forecast on the website DOES NOT WORK. They say that there is a work order in to fix them but nothing has been done yet. Whenever he calls after waiting on hold for a long period of time, they say that they are sorry and they will put notes into their system. Well the notes have not worked, being switched to automatic delivery for every second Sunday of the month has not worked because no one shows up. Every time his propane has run out he has to vacate his home and stay with family or myself. His small dog freezes when this occurs and by company policy someone has to be there if it is zero, but they don't tell you when or the time they intend on being there. I guess they should freeze waiting for two weeks until Amerigas shows up. On Feb. 8th 2021, the refill order was pending online. It is now Feb. 22nd 2021 and no one has showed up yet to fix the gauge or refill the tank. After all of his perilous attempts at contacting the managers and those responsible for the maintenance, I am utterly disappointed in their service and treatment of not only their customers but a decorated veteran like him. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. So bribing m beginning of November 2019 we start running our furnace. We had 2 big tanks. I check levels right after our furnace was fixed. One tank is at 80 the other at 70. I'm thinking awesome that's enough for awhile probably get us thru winter or dam close. So of course some days it's not all that cold turn temp down etc December rolls around. Literally 5 weeks after one day whole family wakes up freezing. I'm thinking it was really windy maybe pilot light went out. I try lighting it nothing. Keep in mind I also rent here and rent from slumlords. Call emergency number where I rent from. Of course no help there according to her it's not an emergency that we have no heat when it's 30° out. I go check tanks. They are both at zero. Ok problem here there's got to be a leak. Since it's a Sunday (15th) I call amerigas emergency number and tell them what's going on. Couple hours later technician Brandon shows up. I tell him about what's going on. He goes to look at our tanks. Oh yeah something definitely wrong. So as he's doing his work I'm going out every so oftento check. Says tanks aren't where they're supposed to be ! So they were filled illegally. He says he's gotta move the tanks. Ok cool come back out lil later but also took pics of him moving the tanks. He says he can't check them with the regulator that's on our tanks cuz it's old and out dated. I ask him is that why it's leaking and we lost all our propane. He says yes but you'll have a hard time proving that. At that point I go in and tell my bf I have a bad feeling we're gonna get screwed. This guys knows who's at fault but doesn't want amerigas to pay for their own mistakes. I call amerigas the next day and tell them what happened. Brandon lies to them tells them he couldn't find a leak after he put new regulator on. Of course you're not going to find a leak after you replaced bad regular with new and then the propane was holding. Hard too find a leak when they were empty duh. Ok so calls back and forth for a week and pics sent thru emails to Linda at amerigas. Finally talk to manager Scott. First class douche bags is what all of them our. He says his technician couldn't find a leak and they could only give me $50 credit. Get the fuck out of here that was almost $600 in propane gone that was not only illegally filled in the first and wrong place ( has to be so many feet from your house) but wet lost all of it cuz of a bad regulator on their tanks. They've lost my business and are horrible people all around. Save your money people they charge almost $3.00 a gallon. Needless to say I went with someone else. read more

I have so many complaints against Amerigas and want to share with the world. First they overcharge for propane, second we have ran out of propane during time with them, even with auto-delivery, third their underground tank caught on fire (we never received credit for that propane and it took them 3 years to safely secure the tank) lastly when you decide to leave them they charge you for leaving with Pump out Restocking Charge ours was $149.99 and Service Dispatch Charge $59.99 with tax was $222.58. I already paid for the propane once now need to pay again. I reported to Better Business Bureau. HONESTLY I would not even give a single star! read more

(small sticker says Amerigas on big tank) Be me, cooking, heating, cooking more with propane from big propane tank. For years. One day a note appears on my BACK door. "Call us to start a contract or we will reposess our tank!!!" How nice, me thinks, these people are friendly (and trespassing!) Me calls: Hi you left a note? Them: You're stealing our propane and cut the lock off. Me:??? what lock, I bought this house 3 years ago. If tank were locked, I would have called sooner." Them: You steal our propane, set up contract now! Me: OK, what does contract cost? Them: $300, plus leak detection fee.. Me: but line isn't leaking, I been using, cooking, be me! Them: Don't care, $300, plus line leak detection fee, plus hookup fee, plus 50gallon minimum fillup...plus you owe us the $500 credit from last owners... Me:??? uh...so how much to cancel contract and take tank? Them: $300, plus line leak detection fee, plus UNhookup fee... Me: OK, I start contract, come over tomorrow, I have monies. I have used Amerigas for 13 years and they installed both of my tanks, which are consistently running out of gas. I sign up for automatic delivery, auto pay, and I've signed up for every stupid program they have. I still run out of gas every year. This year I ran out in both my cooking and my heating bottles. 5 days before Christmas. I called for delivery and wasted a day off work.....unfortunately they refused to fill their own heating bottle because it was 6 inches too close to a light when they installed it.?!!! 2 days later at 7:30 am, I get a autodelivery that's going nowhere. They never told their employees that they tagged the tank. Encouraged I said "are you here to move the tank?" No. This is the worst customer service ever. Heller gas replaced the tanks and I have heat. If Amerigas supplies propane to Hell, it will be a cold day for sure. read more

If I could give this a zero I would! We have automatic delivery and every single year we run out of gas in the dead winter. Having called Amerigas multiple times yearly because we run out, they will give you a 1-2 week window for delivery; that is if they even put an order in! I've called and complained about that too! WE ARE ON AUTOMATIC DELIVERY, you let us run out of gas and you can't bring somebody out the next day for service without us paying for an "emergency delivery"? Also, we have 2 houses on our property in which they installed the tanks. The delivery guy last spring wanted us to move the tanks at our springhouse closer to our main house because he said the lines were not long enough. I was there and watched him fill the tanks up! We refused to move the tanks because they are long enough and now they blocked further services and will not refill the tanks even though I told them they have our permission to go in the grass if needed. They have filled those tanks up for 15 years! Why is it a problem now? Please save yourself the headache and find another company. read more

Our family was with our previous home heating company for 18 years and we were always kept up to date and we were never surprised with fees. They were courteous, understanding, and always up front about all aspects of their billing, service agreements, and repair fees. We've been with AmeriGas of Dillsburg for under 2 years (only 3 deliveries) and they've decided to applies fees to our account without disclosing them to us first. After no correspondence with AmeriGas for over a year and a half we received a bill out of the blue for a tank rental fee. After some research we believe these fees to be centered around our low consumption of propane. When I called to ask about these surprise fees the representative said they would look into it and get back to me. More than a month went by, so I called AGAIN to follow up. The representative apologized and said they forgot about my initial request. The information we requested was finally sent a few days later. When we received the requested information and I questioned its validity, they threatened to lock out our tank and send out account to collections for non-payment. Their claim is that we signed a contract agreeing to these fees. The contract is left blank in the designated area where specific fees should have been disclosed. They've used this omission of the required information as their freedom to establish and arbitrary figure to charge our family. In the state of Pennsylvania, the obligation is on the drafter of a contract to provide a complete, accurate, and non-ambiguous agreement to which all parties can sign with confidence, and full understanding of each parties' rights and obligations within that contract. If we would have known about the specific rental fees we would NOT have signed the contract, or at the least we would have been able to ask questions about it. I am not one to take to the internet to call out a company for anything less than a egregious act such as this. This is the first time I felt compelled to publicly disclose my distrust of a company in hopes that others would be wary of the same mistreatment. I can't speak to other locations for AmeriGas and their licencees (or franchisees) but I would be sure to look at ALL options before agreeing to do business with this branch. There are an infinite number of companies in this area who will deliver propane and provide service and hold a higher standard for customer relations in our opinion. My previous experience with other companies tells me that they are MUCH more likely to deal with your concerns more favorably. read more

We have been customers with Amerigas for many years. After using other companies, we switched over to Amerigas. We have never regretted doing so. They have always been very prompt with their deliveries. When we had financial difficulties, they were very easy to work out payment arrangements with. We price shopped and they were very reasonable. Absolutely horrible company to deal with. We became customers when we bought our home in Dillsburg because the previous owners had been customers. We called and had Amerigas come out and do a check on all of our lines before turning the propane on and transferring service into our name. The cost of the line check was over $400 plus the cost to fill the tanks. At our next fill up the technician pointed out that we had a bad valve and two leaking lines. These items should have been fixed during that $400 inspection that we had paid for but they were not. We called Amerigas to have them fix the problem and the manager told us "Well you should be thanking us...you're lucky your house didn't blow up". He then tried to charge us another $100 to fix the valves and the lines that were not fixed the first time. Needless to say, we are no longer customers. read more

Amerigas took over our previous propane supplier. When we got the delivery from Amerigas, the charge was $4.51 per gallon! We checked around other companies in the same area and the average was $1.39 per gallon, and less if you owned your own tank. I'm stuck with this 500 gallons because Amerigas won't take it back. read more
