We had a tank that we could not open the valve, took it to the Amerigas location and the employee was very helpful and gave us a new tank.

Here we go again with Amerigas. I lease a tank from them and have been doing so since 2002. I need a refill so I called and they told me there is an additional charge of $140.00 to check for leaks. Not fix a leak. Just check for one. Now I rent this tank from them. Shouldn't that be warranted by my rental fee? They cannot do anything right. Customer no service. They show up when not requested and biil you over and over when you have already paid. Got an email from the CEO that they are going to improve customer service. My God where has he been. I assumed a lease on a underground tank from the former owner of my house. They told me I'd get a delivery and email a confirmation. Then they didn't show up. I called to ask and they said it would be in two days. Meanwhile the tank went from 40 to 15 percent. Can you guess? The delivery never came. Called at 5 PM and was told by the operator that he could see the truck was in my area and would be there shortly. But it never came. In the next call I was told the delivery would be the delivery will not be today. So the last operator was just lying. This one told me I'm scheduled for... wait for it.. any time between tomorrow and four days from now. My tank is at 10 percent and they won't connect me to a supervisor. And she won't hang up first so I can do the survey. This company is terrible!! read more

BUYER BEWARE. Amerigas is among the VERY WORST companies to deal with. They are nothing more than thieves as they OVERCHARGE for everything they do. Here are my experiences: 1) Charged me over $1200 to install (1) LP Gas line and to LEASE a small 57-gallon tank just to operate a kitchen cook stove in 2014. The LP Gas in the tank was EXTRA charge (billed at market rates). 2) Charged me $126.49/year for 10-years plus for the annual tank lease. (A brand new tank can be purchased that you can own outright for under $1000). 3) I contacted Amerigas to inquire about a possible upgrade to a larger tank so that I can run both an LP Gas cooking range and a whole house Generac (back-up) generator. They wanted $200 just to come out and do a "survey" before they would even provide an estimate. Then they gave me a ballpark price of over $5000 for a larger brand new tank for me to purchase and to own outright. At this point I stopped having conversations with Amerigas and went with a different LP service provider, Ferrellgas. (Ferrellgas is a GREAT company to do business with so far. Honest, fair and good for their word and commitments, unlike Amerigas). 4) After Ferrellgas finished my new (and completely owned by me) tank installation and got it full of LP Gas, I contacted Amerigas to come and pick up their leased tank and to close out my account. Here is how that went: 4a) Please note, Ferrellgas had already completely disconnected the Amerigas tank and set it up on some 2x4s next to my driveway ready for Amerigas to pick it up. It took them 10 days to come to get the tank. When they arrived, they had (1) driver and (1) truck. He was here maybe 10 minutes at the most, loaded and drove away with the tank. 10 MINUTES of work, (1) truck and (1) driver. 4b) I got my final bill. What a SHOCK and insult. Amerigas charged me $320 for a "Tank Pick Up Fee". Amerigas then charged me another $120 for a "Service Dispatch Fee" (please understand there was NO SERVICE WORK performed what-so-ever, only picked up their tank, 10-minutes of work.) 4c) In total, they charged me $440 to come and get their leased tank that I had already paid over $1250 in lease fees over 10 years plus all the LP Gas that I had consumed and then charged my credit card for these charges WITHOUT MY CONSENT (as my account had been closed a month earlier, at least I thought it had). No appreciation, loyalty or respect for a long term customer. 4d) I called to question and dispute these charges. They said there is nothing they can do about it as this is their standard "Terms and Conditions of Sale". 4e) I demanded to speak with a Supervisor. I went over the whole timeline and process again with this women. They finally relented and agreed to refund me $120 for the "Service Dispatch Fee" where NO SERVICES were provided. But in order to get a refund, I had to "re-open" my account to make it active again so they could apply my refund. (I am still awaiting arrival of this paper check being sent via the USPS mail). If I ever get my refund check, I will be 100% sure my account is completely CLOSED and I never want to hear the name Amerigas again. BUYER BEWARE. First, good luck getting them to answer the phone. Good luck not getting ripped off with their overcharges. Good luck getting any kind of customer service out of these crooks. And if you do business with these crooks, guard your wallet as they will rob you blind. Geezz, so glad to be done with Ameri-crooks. I am on paperless billing but they never send a bill and when I don't pay they do not send past due bills for my tank rental. Meanwhile they charge over 30% per month late fees and then turn the whole thing over to a collection agency after. I have been with this company since 2002 and until the last 2 years everything has been fine. I now have resorted to going back to mailed bills in hopes they do better. I have been a customer of Amerigas for more than ten years. On September 30, 2020, while weed-trimming we accidentally cut an old gas line for an outdoor barbecue. We called Amerigas to come and shut off the line since we don't use it. Eric arrived and did the job. Then, as we walked to the gate to close it after him, we heard a loud crack and turned around to see the Amerigas truck sinking into the front lawn. The Amerigas employee had driven his heavy truck across our lawn instead of backing out of the driveway and crushed the septic tank buried in the front yard. It took two big tow trucks to pull out his truck. The next day Jeremy of Martin Septic Services came to inspect the damage. The septic tank is irreparable. The cost to remedy the septic system is $9,460. After seven weeks of putting us off for the 'investigation' Jamie called me the morning of Friday, November 6, 2020 and said the offer from Liberty Mutual Insurance was $946, one-tenth of the cost to fix the problem created by Amerigas! I feel it is unreasonable to expect me, the innocent customer, to be financially responsible for the Amerigas employee's accident which resulted in the destruction of my septic system. Prior to 3 PM on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, I had a perfectly functioning septic system. Amerigas left me with a health hazard. On Monday, November 9, 2020 I drove to the local Amerigas office at 1402 Market Circle in Port Charlotte to speak with manager Doug Clark. The office employee, Patsy, would not allow me to enter the office, and Mr. Clark refused to come to the door. He later emailed me to say, "I apologize for not being able to speak to you face to face but due to Covid protocols I am not able to do that." Earlier this week, as I contemplated my next steps, I visited the Better Business Bureau website and was disturbed to see 887 complaints about Amerigas, and this note by the BBB: Please be advised that due to the high volume of complaints received for this business, BBB publishes 1 out of every 10 complaints handled through our conciliation process. My parents have been customers of Amerigas for over 20 years (prior to them even being bought out by Amerigas). In the last 3 years customer service has been horrible and within the last year non-existent. My parents are suppose to be on a fixed delivery but they never get it delivered. When I call to see why, I can't get an answer, only that it will be delivered the following week...which naturally it isn't. If you try and ask to speak to a supervisor they will not connect you. Emailing them is also a waste of time. You'll get a bs response with no follow up. If you are reading this save yourself some aggravation and USE ANOTHER GAS COMPANY!!!!! read more

Online advertising shows they fill propane tanks. Drove the 15 minutes there to find sign on door that says not filling propane tanks at this time... wasted my time.
