Americinn appeared recently updated and the staff was nice enough. Unfortunately we chose this location for the "heated" pool, only for it to be too cold to swim in. Another review mentioned the very slippery floors surrounding the pool - they are right. The fireplace in our room didn't work, the windows were indeed gross, and the mirrors clearly hadn't been cleaned. Additionally we had inconsiderate and loud neighbors early in the morning, but that's not the hotels fault. They kept opening and slamming the door for some reason. Overall we had a fine time, the bed and king suite jacuzzi were nice, and we'd come here again if ever needed. read more

Booking was easy on the Wyndham Rewards website. Precheck was simple on my cell. The lobby was clean, welcoming and even smelled nice. The front desk staff was helpful and efficient. My room was clean and comfortable and a little nicer than I expected for $105. Free breakfast was lovely with fresh food and reasonable variety. Check out was efficient and the staff was friendly. There was plenty of parking and it was really easy to get to from the freeway and it was easy to get back on the road. I anticipate once my kid starts school I'll be making this trip a few times a year and I'll try to make sure I always stay here. I've been avoiding Wyndham for several years after a really horrible experience in Kansas City, but this place made me glad I reconsidered my total Wyndham ban. read more

I can't wait to stay at another AmericInn again, I just hope it's as nice as this one. We had to stop driving suddenly from Minneapolis to Omaha due to a snowstorm, and thankfully there was a room here. The booking process was simple, as was the check in process. The front desk even came to help with our bags, such a nice gesture! The hotel is so clean! Definitely a well kept up small town, like other reviews said, unassuming hotel. It was quiet, the bed was comfortable, and it was decorated so cute for Christmas. The pool looked nice, but we didn't swim and since we were only a short drive from home, didn't check out the shower so I can't speak for that. Everyone here was friendly, something rare in hotels these days. The breakfast was great, a typical continental breakfast, but again everything was clean. They had syrups to flavor the coffee, and I was impressed with both sugar and sugar free options! The fireplace in the foyer was on, making it a cozy experience, too. I am involved in pet rescue, have been for twenty years. I transport dogs to their new homes for a rescue organization. This involves driving a lot of miles and staying in a lot of different hotels. I stayed in this hotel twice in the past two weeks. The first time as a walk in I was charged $150. The second time I booked in advance and the price was under a hundred dollars. Both times were for Monday check-ins and both times the parking lot was pretty empty. In other words, they took advantage of a tired traveler the first time. My check-in and check-out both times had something in common, the least friendly front desk staff that I can remember. I gave three stars because it was clean, well maintained, and there are not a lot of other choices in the area. The staff is pretty awful though. I recommend that you stay in Des Moines if you can. read more

I did not book ahead but stayed there as it was getting late and I wanted a place with a pool for kids. Room was nice and clean, but pull out sleeper couch was disgustingly dirty, ripped and uncomfortable. I was not given bedding for it. Breakfast was not great and they ran out of milk. Overall a very nice hotel for the price point. The workers were all very kid and helpful. It's a pretty small hotel which makes it easier to load/unload. The pool is very nice and breakfast was pretty good. The hotel was decorated nicely and had a great feel to it. It was pretty clean. Overall we had no issues for this stay. read more

Please do not book a room here! Candace at the front desk booked my room for a weekend prior to my arrival! Staff takes no responsibility and my card was charged $246.40! They will not refund me and the only way that I would be refunded is if I actually stayed there! I called four days in advance to cancel my reservation and they cannot find my reservation! After five phone calls back and forth to them in one evening, I figured out that they booked me for the wrong weekend! They said it was my fault and that I just wanted my money back because I didn't show up! However, I'm coming from Minnesota and my nephews party is on the following Saturday! When I asked for the managers name so I could speak with him/her, she said she was not allowed to give out that information! Super shady! Please do not book a room here!! read more

Clean room, but very poorly maintained. Internet didn't work, owner insisted it did, even though none of five devices could connect to a very weak signal at the far end of the hotel (rm125). The owner was a bit of a di** when I called a second time. Crap internet was the deal breaker. Front desk calling at 11:01 to see if we are staying another day. Owners children 4-6 years old running around the lobby, and messy children's toys in the lobby area. In a pinch, it'll do, but keep on driving if you don't need to stay in Stuart. read more

Needed a last minute place for the night. We were worried to find a decent place as we had our young daughter with us. We were pleasantly surprised to find it to be great! Lobby and room extremely clean and very comfortable. Free Wi-fi for our daughter's device. Great breakfast included in the stay. It was such a great rest for our long trip! Never got the chance to stay here. Called to ask a few questions today and was treated as rude as can be by the woman who apparently is running things. When we asked if they had rooms available she responded with, "I guess so." It went downhill from there. Our visit started on a promising note--the desk clerk who took our reservation, Holly, was extremely accommodating ... she even called me back to select our ideal room. Sadly, it all went down hill from there. In general, we are fans of the Americann chain, so our experience was disappointing. The facility, in general, is tired feeling. Our room (a larger king suite) had several issues: the fireplace didn't work, the jacuzzi faucet released black crud when we turned it on, the smoke detector above the bed was hanging (by wires?) from the ceiling, and the double-pane window was completely fogged or degraded. The breakfast was just sad ... tables were sticky, the buffet was a mess and largely unattended, no fresh fruit, and the coffee was perpetually empty. There is no working drinking fountain in the hotel (the one by the pool is broken), and be aware that this location doesn't have an elevator. read more

Pleasantly surprised for the quality of our stay in regards to the price we paid. We were in Des Moines for the Iowa State Fair and we were not planning/expecting to stay the night. When we decided we would be staying, it was very difficult finding a place to stay nearby that wasn't $200+ per night. We decided we would stay here at this motel in Stuart. The photos on the hotels.com website looked good for the price shown. The reviews were good too. I believe on their app, this motel received a 3.9/5? The rate on my hotels.com app was $75, $82 with tax. I used a promo code offered by hotels.com app and got the final total down to $75. Upon arrival, the front desk attendant had a promotion for the room and we ended up only paying $66 total! Great price. We got our room key, they wrote down what our wifi password was, and we were on our way to our room. I believe there was only ten rooms total. We were told we took the last room that was vacant that night. Lucky us! The room key was neat, you waved the key in front of the handle almost like one of those security keychains. The room smelled normal (another review said there was a smell?), the room was clean and ready for our stay. You could tell the rooms had been updated recently. The fixtures were of nice quality and the room was perfect for what we needed. A place to stay, no fussy-ness. The workers were kind, helpful, and kept the whole property very clean and well lit.. The lobby, sidewalks, parking lot, and rooms were all very well lit and very clean. I do recall that one light switch wasn't working in our room but it didn't bother us much since there were obviously other light fixtures in the room. I would definitely recommend a room to a friend and I would return for a stay, if the need arises. read more

Perfectly adequate for what it is. I was driving cross country when dealing with the drivers in Iowa finally started getting to me. Apparently nobody in the state understands that you pass on the left lane and drive in the right, but I digress. Any rate, we first hit up a Motel 8 that had no vacancies, and then to the AmericInn. The place was nicer than I expected, the front desk knew what was going on and they had a waffle iron with their complimentary breakfast, which, in my book, earned them the extra star. Great place to stop when traveling I80. Clean and quiet rooms, decent breakfast and a wind turbine right behind the building...I love those wind turbines! WiFi didn't work too well, but they have a lobby business center you can use while enjoying the fireplace and dead animals up on the walls :) read more

I give the Americinn 5 stars because they are dog friendly in an otherwise non-friendly area. The $15 fee is very reasonable considering the last hotel we considered wanted a $115 fee. The hotel was clean, had good amenities and quiet. We slept well and will stay again. read more

Apparently a non-smoking room means that there isn't anyone smoking in it at the moment. I have spent so much time passed out on a bar room floor so this wasn't really a problem but if you don't lick ash trays as a hobby, you should smell your room before settling in. Breakfast was available and preserved so well it will be fresh long after all life on this planet is gone. On the plus, quiet and cheap ish. read more

The person at the front desk was awful and rude! We asked if they had the pool open to the public and they said yes. Immediately after saying yes they hung up! We went to the hotel anyways to go swimming and then kicked us out because we didn't 'pay' and then when I said I didn't know that we had to pay the person just laughed and said get out!
