My family and I stayed here while traveling across the country in our RV. The staff was super polite, super helpful and very attentive. Our site was great. It was a pull in. We had a fire pit which me and the family made s'mores. They had all the amenities and more they had a pool. They had a hot tub ,playground for the kids and he also had a game an it was walkable two of the restaurants in a short drive or Uber to downtown. . We all had a great experience at this site and I will happily go back again. read more

We stayed at the cabins here during a desperate trip to cross the country, and the staff was the absolute best -- helpful, supportive, and compassionate! We left with renewed strength and peace and made it the rest of the way to our new home! I only wish we had gotten to try the pizza -- it looked amazing!!! This is a beautifully kept park, clean, well groomed, safe with lots of activities for everyone! The spaces are generous, the staff are so kind, considerate, knowledgeable and helpful! We had a freshly made pizza delivered after we set up! Nice to be able to order and get it delivered! The manager,Marcus Vangen was amazingly helpful with a small issue we had. We will make this our yearly stay in the Des Moines area! And recommend it to everyone! We even gave a family member here in Des Moines a brief 'staycation' here! We loved this KOA! Everyone there was so incredibly kind and helpful, offering to do everything they could for us. Bathrooms were so clean, pizza was inexpensive and delicious, and the grounds were beautiful. They kindly upgraded our tent site to an rv spot because the bathrooms near the tent sites were being worked on. We slept great and it was nice and quiet through the night. Larry was very helpful and so were all the ladies working inside. We'll be back if we're ever in the area! read more

We arrived after dark for just an overnight stay, leaving shortly after sunrise therefore cannot comment on most of the amenities. Communication was good with how to locate our site since we stayed during the off season. The laundry room and bathrooms were very nice and clean. We did not utilize the showers but were impressed with how clean everything was. The concrete patio was perfect for our quick stay as the melting snow had created quite a mess on the roadways and site. Typically we do not stay in KOAs or similar style parks but would definitely recommend to those that do! It appears that the owner(s) do an excellent job maintaining the property. read more

We are KOA members who camped here twice during July 2019. The first visit went off without a hitch; the return stay was regrettable and left an extremely sour taste in our mouths. It's fair to say that this campground is large, clean and mostly friendly. There are plenty of amenities -- pool, bubble jumping contraption and dunking booth -- to keep the kids entertained. The dog parks are also roomy and well-designed. But even the best campground can have flaws; in this case, it is an employee who lives on the property. Long story short, my wife went to the laundry facility to wash our clothes after a long day of driving. Of the three machines (rather few for such a large campground), the woman was filling all three. My wife asked if she could hold off on one of them and the woman declined. -- My wife waited, then when it came time to dry the clothes, the woman was occupying the facility's four dryers with her (three) loads. During both incidents, words were exchanged. While there was no namecalling or anything of that nature, the woman basically let my wife know that she lived there and had every right to do her laundry whenever she pleased ... even if it was during a busy time for travelers. Under usual circumstances, it's first-come-first-serve. We understand that. When it's a resident employee of the facility, the rules change. It was a poor example of customer service and frustrating, but the real issue happened when our 11-year-old walked in and the woman said "You're her son? I feel sorry for you buddy." My wife immediately reported this to the front office (right around the corner) and the woman had already slipped in to tell her co-workers what had happened. Whether it's because most of the workers are teens or a result of no training, they didn't know what to tell my wife. The acting manager was nowhere to be seen, and the property managers were apparently on vacation. -- While the acting manager reached my wife a few minutes after the incident, we still requested a call from the actual managers. Nine days later, my wife received an email from the actual managers that they were still on vacation and would get in touch later. Unprofessional. Unacceptable. Not only on the part of the rogue resident employee but of management itself. First, whether or not I'm on the clock, I represent the company. In fact, we all do ... and that's especially true when said employee lives on the property. It's no different than a cruise ship. When acting management is unable to present a viable solution (she offered my wife a free ice cream cone) and management/ownership puts us on the back burner, it pretty much convinces me that it's a lost cause. Shame. And shame on them. If you read my reviews, you'll see that two-star versions are few and far between. As a former business owner, I believe the right thing to do is to give the business a reasonable chance to make things right. We were more than reasonable. They balked at the chance to set things right. Lesson learned (on my end). read more

This is a very wonderful campground, they have tons of amenities, pool, a shop, stuff for kids to play on. The RV sites are super huge, a ton of great looking cabins to rent, and everything is clean. Staff is super helpful, plus they deliver. read more

New management has really improved this campground and we had such a great experience last weekend! Staff is so friendly and the facilities are clean and top notch. We stayed in the new glamping tent and will definitely be returning in the near future. No air conditioner but has several electrical outlets where you can bring your own fans. They do supply one for you. There's also a king size bed with a very comfortable mattress (bring your own linens and pillows), side tables with lamps and a bench. Outside on the porch are nice rocking chairs. We had our own fire pit and picnic table. No bathroom of course but the walk is short to the shower/bathroom that are really clean. Great view towards the pond. What a fun experience! You won't be disappointed. read more

Beautiful and new KOA in Des Moines West, Iowa. We reserved in April a deluxe patio site and boy did it deliver beyond our expectations. A concrete patio with a gas grill, a really nice sitting area with table and chairs, and a large firepit to enjoy at night. Very spacious corner site at the back of the campground which looks out at the woods to enjoy as well. We came from 90+ degrees in Columbia Missouri, so the cooler temperatures were a welcome change. We had a fire last night and will tonight too. The staff is young and very accommodating and helpful. Check in was easy yesterday, and we even got a propane fill before being escorted to our site by the nice young man who checked me in. They also deliver firewood to your site which we had done today. Great customer service!!! They also have many activities for the kids to enjoy. They attach the activity list to their campground so families can take full advantage of all the fun stuff. Good cable tv reception and wifi too. It's a Holiday KOA so there's much to do for all. We loved our two nights just wish we could stay longer!! read more

This is our 4th stay here in less than 2 months due to a family death. This park is exceptional and by far the best KOA we have stayed in and recently it has been many! We have stayed in the RV sites and cabins, both are very clean. The grounds are well kept and clean. The staff are all so very kind and helpful. I can't say enough about how much I really enjoy this park. We will return just to stay here and enjoy the beautiful area around this park. read more

The actual campground is wonderful but the two woman in the store/check in/out area are very rude, crabby, disrespectful and apparently to stressed to work the counter. I dismissed at the counter to let another customer check in a head of me because I was buying supplies and they were checking in for the night. So I waited another 10 minutes, after already waiting for 10 minutes. I understand being busy but if you're going to work with the public in a busy setting you better have some respect. I think a nap for two ladies is needed..... read more

I left my sandals and custom orthodics at my campsite. For anyone dependent on orthodics, you know how crucial they are to a successful vacation! Not only did Linda go out and retrieve my well-worn kicks from the campsite the next day, but Kassie drove a town over to send them to me via FedEx overnight, and then refused my insistence to tip her via VenMo. Genuine Midwestern customer service! The location is far enough from I-80 to get a good night's rest, and isvery clean and well-maintained. read more

This was a good KOA. They had a heated pool, although it was had these odd slopes to it. Somewhat level gravel sites and all of the standard hook ups worked well. There is no cable and we were only able to get two channels via antenna. My main complaint would be the garbage in the fire pits. It's as if people didn't realize they weren't trash cans, or that aluminum is a good heat conductor?!?! Nice and quiet, not a bad stop over for a night or two. read more

We drove from Colorado. We got put in site #34. Our yard consisted of a 3 ft by 3 ft electrical "high voltage" box and an electrical power pole and a cable box for the entire facility. Leaving no "grassy area". I went to the front and asked to be moved. The front desk acted clueless stating there were no other sites like mine available. Meanwhile site 32-38 were open. They moved us to 36 it's a nice site with a tree and shade. There are no screw on tips for the sewer lines and no walkways thru long lines of rv's causing children to run back and forth between sites. The pizza place makes pre made frozen food hot. Maybe it was the ten hour drive, but I feel like this place needs a huge face life. read more

This was out first campground experience after buying our fifth wheel RV. If all campgrounds/RV parks are like this one, it would be fantastic! They were expecting us. They escort you to your spot & answered any questions we had. When we had issues getting our TV to view their cable, the owner came & helped us. The staff were great! Helpful, friendly, polite, no drama. Lots of younger staff who all were eager to please. Thanks for your stellar service! Nice office & store, and they will deliver their good pizza (made onsite) to your RV door! Clean laundry room with new looking equipment. Worked as they should and it was free! Nice dog area, nice play areas, pool area looked good, and sites were all pull-thru and pretty level. I loved the little kiddie "train" they made to give little tykes a ride around the park. They have cabins which looked nice. Easy on / off from highway 80, far enough away that we didn't hear traffic noice. Nice & quiet. All in all, a wonderful experience! When we're back in the area, we'll stay here again! read more

Very clean and nicely organized KOA. Staff is friendly and helpful. Had a tornado warning while we were there and they offered safe haven at the office. The Hunt Bros. Pizza joint on-site was quite good and since it was close to Halloween, a scarecrow (employee) delivered our pizza! :) Easy access to Adel and the greater Des Moines area. Would stay again. We arrived late after finding the nearby state campground full. They were very friendly and helpful which we appreciated because it had been a long day and we were tired. The bathrooms with showers were awesomely wonderful and there is a little lake where people were fishing. Very pretty and nice shade trees. It had rained recently so there was some mud but they allowed us to choose our spot and it was dry and scenic. There are a lot of dogs and kids, and there are a lot of activities to keep the kids engaged. read more

This is such a pretty place to stay. Its got so many activities and overall a nice place to stay. But I have to say, the staff here are one of the most disappointing group of people I have ever experienced. They were so rude. They were not only rude to me, I witnessed them being rude to other customers as well. Also, wow they are some complainers. I mean yes, as a human I complain too. But where I work, not one employee complains about customers. Let alone right in front of other customers. I heard the two front ladies complaining about several campers and one family staying in a cabin. They were complaining on some requests of items (like needing firewood,) how a guy apparently didn't know know how to pull in a camper because she thought he was doing it all wrong, and more. It was quite disappointing listening to staff complain about the work they have to do and their paying customers. read more

For my first KOA experience, this was great. We are traveling cross country from Cali. to Pa, and needed a break from the heat for our 3 dogs. The staff is friendly, and the park is neat and clean. There is a heated pool, a dog park, which was why we wanted to stay here, clean laundry room, wifi, TV, food that they will deliver to your site. Not many parks do that!They give rides to the laundry if you need and it's just an overall nice place to stay. Wish we could stay longer read more

This is an awesome , clean KOA! We did the tent camping and it was a nice grassy area . They are pet friendly and have a dog park. The amenities were awesome especially if you have kids . We saw a pavilion that plays movies at night , they have a dunking seat (like you see at fairs) . They have play ground, petal go carts you can rent. And some other really awesome things for kids to play on. Bathrooms are very CLEAN and spacious. Best KOA we've ever stayed at! read more

This is the second time we've stayed at this KOA; the first stay was an overnight, this will be a two night, three day stay. It is a very nice, very clean campground. The tent sites on the north side, with power and water, are a tad on the small side, but adequate. Our tent is a larger cabin style tent, 16x10, and it fit in the site just fine with plenty of room for the picnic table and fire ring, both supplied at the site. The camp store is very well stocked, and run by knowledgeable people. Beer and wine are sold in the camp store, and is allowed at your site, just be respectful of your fellow campers! The pool is decent size. All in all, it's a very nice campground, decent value for your money. We'll be camping here again. read more

If you are planning on staying for extended time DON'T! While there we had issues with water run off causing everything to be a muddy mess. We were upcharged in electric causing our monthly stay to cost around $1000. Getting ahold of anyone to get issues resolved were a struggle. The owners would change policies without telling anyone. No WiFi in winter section like they stated. Most expensive KOA that I have ever stayed at and was happy to leave when we had the chance. Beautiful place but when you can't use amenities not worth the money. read more

We arrived yesterday afternoon - day 3 of a long trip. Received a warm greeting and once we were checked in a quick escort to our site. The site was clean and has a nice shade tree. Found the facilities clean and well equipped. The staff is very polite and friendly. The other people staying here also are friendly and understand things like quiet hours. As it is getting toward the end of the season, the store is not quite as well stocked with things that have a short shelf life. They do have a pizza service available and we tried it last night and it was pretty good. When we were sitting outside earlier today, I noticed some noise from I-80, but that is to be expected. It is easy off the highway and easy return. If you need an RV spot in the Des Moines area, this would be a good choice. read more

Nice location! Nice people working in the office. Really big gift shop and they make pizza! My one complaint is how far the tent sites are from the bathrooms. Usually the tent sites are closer since tenters don't have an RV with a toilet. I did get to pick my tent site, which I liked--I picked one far from the highway. I just drove to the bathrooms in the morning since it was so cold! read more

We have never experienced a KOA camp ground before and didn't really know what to expect. WOW!! For a family, this place was excellent. There was a ton of activities for the kids, the pool was great, and the facilities were well maintained. The staff was also fantastic. Their service and commitment made you feel comfortable. We stayed here on our way from Idaho to Pennsylvania! We stayed 4 nights and it was great! Very clean campground and their spots are good size. We have a 45 ft toy hauler and it fit! The employees are very kind and friendly! We have two dogs and they had plenty of room to run and play in the two fenced in dog runs they have! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone! Right off the interstate so easy access and close to town for food and shopping! read more

Best Koa we have stayed in. We choose to say here for the use of the Internet while in the area for a funeral. Sadly the Internet is sub par. The antenna for tablets and phones is at the main building and with a full park its inoperable. We feel we need a partial refund due to inadequate services. Could have camped for $30-35 a night less in this area. read more

Tiny sites crammed close together. Wholly inadequate bathroom facilities for the hundreds of people here. A staff that seems much more concerned about their convenience than our comfort. This RV camp is very popular. It fills up fast even during the week. We were very lucky to get a place without an advance reservation. Front office staff are excellent: courteous, attentive, knowledgable. They escort you to your RV spot. We had full electric, water and sewer hook-ups. Nice areas to take the doggies out. Very clean and well maintained camp. Guest restrooms/showers very clean with a more modern decor. Pizza restaurant on site. Kiddie play area also. Spacing between RVs a little tight. Per my husband, the only negative was that the roads within the camp were all gravel. His complaint was after visiting the shower he had to walk back to our RV through gravel which caused his feet to become dusty. (I did not care.). Also each site has fire pits. $47/nite. read more

Really nice KOA. They had a pond to fish, a trampoline-thing, a basketball hoop, jungle gym, horseshoe pit, pool, and volleyball pit. They also have a nice dog park! It was nice and green. I agree the slopes on the campsites are a bit annoying and the sites were cramped. read more
