Summary: I visited several mattress stores. On 4/8/18 at America's Mattress in Cumming, GA, I met Larry. I purchased a Serta set because I was impressed with his product knowledge and helpfulness. After Larry left the company, only delivery and setup went smoothly. The rest is a nightmare.
The employees/owner of the Cumming and Suwanee (Georgia) stores persist in issuing excuses that are innocuous on their own. But analyze everything, and a distinct pattern of disorganization, lies, and confused customer service emerges.
All stores are independently owned. I hope the others are organized and honest, with superior customer service. The Cumming and Suwanee stores are not; avoid them. You can find their products at other companies.
Long Review:
I must condense my review because of Yelp's character limit. If you're interested in reading about the whole debacle, email me. I will sum up the Cumming and Suwanee stores' staff from 4/16-5/5 as confused and prone to lying/not keeping their promises, and never sending my sheet set to my home as promised. What I really want to share is my conversation with the owner, Rick, which proves that the staff apples didn't fall far from the owner tree.
5/5, 4:30pm: I call and explain the whole situation AGAIN to Nicky. She says my sheets are in Suwanee and asks "what did Kathleen tell you?" Now she must speak with Rick (owner). She calls back; she can't reach Kathleen, and they don't ship to homes. I repeat that promises were made and not kept. Nicky is looking at Mapquest for my address. I ask why, when the sheets are being shipped. She'll bring them if I'm on her way home from work [Creepy...stop it].
4:41pm: Rick calls. I can't answer; I'm in a meeting. He leaves a message requesting a call back about my items, but no other details -- nothing important like "the sheets were shipped on __." That would've prevented what happened next.
6:15pm: I arrive at Suwanee to pick up my sheets because Nicky told me two hours earlier that they were in her Suwanee store. Nicky calls Rick to tell him I'm there and asks what she should do. She hangs up, then tells me Kathleen already sent the sheets. [Second wasted trip!!]
Me: What's the tracking number?
Nicky: Kathleen is at her son's graduation and can't be reached.
Me: She should've called with the tracking number, as promised. Get Rick back on the phone.
Nicky: *blank stare*
Me: *angry stare*
Nicky: *sighs, dials*
Rick: I'm so sorry about this.
Me: *explains all AGAIN*
Rick: *interrupts* I called. You didn't call back. As the owner, I called you myself to give you the service you deserve. *getting testy*
Me: You're 2.5 weeks too late and being very unprofessional. There are boxes of sheets right in front of me.
Rick: Would you like another free set of sheets for your troubles?
Me: I'd like to leave the store with a resolution to my problem.
Rick: Fine, have Nicky give you some sheets. We'll get you the tracking number tomorrow.
Me: Thank you.
Rick: Are you going to bring back the sheets we already sent? [WHAT?? You offer me a free second set as a resolution, and you want the first set back?? Just...wow.]
Me: Too many promises have been broken. Without a tracking number, I have no confidence that my sheets were sent.
Rick: They were sent.
Me: How do you know without a tracking number?
Rick: Because I'm telling you they were. [Wow, Rick.]
Me: I don't believe you. IF the package arrives at my home, I could refuse it unopened to return it to the store, but I'm not driving back down here.
I give the phone to Nicky. I'm finally able to leave...with my sheet set.
5/6: No call, no email with the tracking number.
5/20: STILL no sheet delivery. UPS Ground within GA is one day. If sent via USPS, they should have arrived by now, assuming they were sent on or before 5/5 .
I fully expect calls from these stores with "apologies" so I'll remove this review. When I refuse to do so, I expect retaliatory comments about my parting words to Nicky on 5/5: "My dealings with Rick today are not entirely your fault, but your boss is a jerk."
Thus ends my relationship with America's Mattress. read more
