McCrorie Carpet One Floor & Home

My wife and I consulted a number of flooring contractors and we chose McCrorie's Carpet One in…read moreSequim to do our flooring. They offered a special where they promised to pay the sales tax on our contract if we accepted their bid and paid 1/2 by end of March 2018. We did. Since this contractor was doing the downstairs hardwood, bathroom tile (floor and shower), and upstairs carpet along with the stairs we kept them updated on the progress of our build telling them the estimated start date of July 1st. Though I could write a book detailing the excuses and delays created by material order delays along with delays caused by inefficient scheduling of in-house contractors resulting in the hiring of 3rd party contractors, some of which McCrories had never used before, I'll just tell you that the entire process of completing the flooring/tile/carpet/kitchen backsplash TOOK MORE THAN 6 MONTHS for this company to complete. To put this into context the average product home takes 3-4 months to complete but sometimes up to 6 months, so it's certainly extraordinarily irresponsible for a company to take 6 months to complete just this part of the total build for a new home. Taking 6 months should have been an embarrassment for this company. But not so. Instead they simply held us accountable along with our contact at McCrories, the salesman, Dennis, who quit or was reassigned, almost immediately after our job got delayed. From that point on, McCrories took the attitude that if it wasn't written down then they wouldn't do it. Suddenly our jovial, let's get it done and I'm sorry for the delays, sale's person/manager was replaced by a corporate hard line. For example, after the completion of the glue down engineered floor I pointed out smudges that the installer said was on the veneer of the wood and not caused by glue smudging during the installation. On his way out the door and after reviewing the install Dennis assured me that he'd send in a cleaning team because "it's a new floor and it should look like a new floor". After the completion of the entire job in January, 2019, I asked McCrories to make good on that oral contract. The manager, Bill, told me that it wasn't on the written contract and that "in new build situations, the general contractor typically hires a cleaning company to do final cleaning". Another promise made by Dennis was the provision of a soap shelf in the guest bath shower as part of the tiling job. Again Bill told me no dice. As a parting shot, after starting in July and finishing in January and creating delays in areas like plumbing, electrical and finish trim, I received a bill about $4000 more expensive than what had remained on the original contract after paying 1/2 up front. We had to contact them and fix their accounting error. So up until the end this company simply couldn't get it right! Imagine if we'd not kept track of what we owed and simply overpaid the final bill. I offered to forgive this experience with them if they would simply come clean the floor and provide the soap shelf as promised. Bill was disinterested. I will never use this company for anything again. You can not trust their promises and they lied to us up to the final installation of the backsplash tile in the kitchen. After receiving our tile in November, they told us their installer was booked until January 1st so we trusted them on that. When we confirmed the job at the end of December, they did manage to provide a tiler for the 2nd of January but, once again, it was a third party contractor. Why, then, were we waiting 2 months? It just begs credulity that a company can operate this way and still be in business. All I can do is truthfully offer my experience with this contractor. The rest is up to you!

Buyer beware! This business does not care about doing a good job and the floor installers either…read morewere too inexperienced to know or didn't mind leaving our front entry floor vents uncovered when they removed the original tiles. Consequently, our HVAC system ducts became plugged with a ton of debris and dirt and even our kitchen microwave rained dirt onto our stove from its vents when it was turned on afterwards. See the pics. We had to call Air Pro to come and professionally clean out the ducts. The new Floor baseboards are left with holes around the entire perimeter of our home. Only the top has caulking. No grouting or finishing paint to cover all the marks. When we asked for the job to be finished, the Salesman we dealt with sent an installer who arrived with the wrong equipment to do the job correctly and admitted he is a terrible painter and said I don't know why I was sent out here. We once again went to see the sales person who now says we will have to pay for a real painter if we do not let the same guy come back and who admits he is not a painter and is bad at it! This is not! The place to choose for your home needs
