I will never go back to this place, ever, after all of the back-and-forth. Here's a list of things that went wrong: 1. Getting her glasses. They said it was only 2-3 weeks. It ended up being closer to 2-3 *months* before she got both scripts for her near and far-sighted glasses. One was late because they messed up the lenses the first time and had to redo them. They did not tell me this until I started complaining about why it was taking so long. 2. Getting insurance figured out. Most of the people I saw there were my mother's age and are (likely) on Medicare. You would think they never saw a Medicare card in their life. Adding in Tricare and federal BCBS, they could not figure out how bill her insurance. At first they said they couldn't run anything medical and charged us almost full price. Next time, they got all three insurances added to her account and started believing me that they could bill her medical because of her *medical diagnosis* of macular degeneration. Which leads me to... 3. Correctly billing for their services. I've been getting auto-mailed bills for an extra $100, saying that the insurance needs to be figured out. Well, I've been there twice, in person, with my mom to get this sorted, but apparently nothing has been done except updating her profile. This is totally opposite of what they promised to do, which is rerun her insurances and provide a *refund* for the difference she already paid. I'm calling them tomorrow to raise some grief about why, since APRIL, I'm still dealing with their nonsense. I'm at the point where the next establishment I'm calling is the Minnesota Board of Optometry. I'm an attorney, so remember kids that you can pursue legal options if your optometrist keeps messing up your prescription. Don't bring your elderly parents here. They also tried to upsell my mom on a pair of Kate Spade glasses when she's on a fixed income and has dementia. That sort of sales work is shady and morally repugnant.

There are 2 locations closer to my home. However, based in my experience today I will make the slightly longer drive to continue being seen at this location. Dr Scheper is extremely nice, knowledgable and informative. I'm not certain if it was me since I asked questions and engaged in the conversation, or she is always like that. Either way, I really appreciated it. I felt confident that she was recommending the right contacts for my eyes and the amount that I wear them. She even tried to help calculate which would be a better deal (2 week vs 1 day wear). The optical attendant that helped me chose my glasses and amount of contacts was also helpful. I'm very indecisive and she was patient while giving me advice as to how she found it helpful to narrow things down. Very nice people here with good communication.

As a senior citizen and diabetic, I have more eye-related perils now than when I was younger and healthier. Dr. Yaw listens to me, checks my eye health thoroughly, and explains things to my satisfaction. I appreciate his patience and thoroughness. This branch of America's Best in Burnsville also has an excellent selection of frames --- at least for males (which I am). I can't speak for female-style glasses since I've never needed to look, but I did recommend America's Best to a female friend and she is now a devoted customer. I currently have two distinctive styles of frames --- Harry-Potter round frames and 1950's retro style --- and regularly get complimented on both of them. The frames I have are well constructed, too, so I have no complaints on durability or comfort. I also thought they were priced reasonably, unlike similar frames offered by specialty fashion frame stores. I also find the staff's customer service to be excellent. As with Dr. Yaw, options are explained patiently to me and to my satisfaction. The same is true for frame fitting: when I first got one of my frames, they did not sit comfortably on my ears. The staff person patiently heated and adjusted the ear pieces several times until I was satisfied with the fit. I was not rushed. With my previous optometrists, if I needed a new prescription I was forced to buy new frames. Not with America's Best: as long as they sold the frames, they are able to simply replace my lenses. Big savings since I've needed a new prescription every couple of years. I highly recommend Dr. Yaw and America's Best in Burnsville, MN because of their excellent care of my eyes, customer service, frame options, and low prices.

A general, routine eye exam should not take up two hours of a patient's time…read more A patient also ought not be kept waiting alone in an exam room for 30 or more minutes after having the pupil dilation drops placed in their eyes, wondering when (or if) the doc is going to return to the exam room to finish the eye examination. During my appointment, after at least a 30 minute wait, I left the exam room to speak to someone at the front desk about the excessive wait time (who stated that the doc was with another patient), and then returned to the exam room. Magically, the doc re-appeared to the exam room almost instantly. No apology. This was my experience when I went for a routine exam last month. During this experience, I was reminded how much waiting time I encountered during my previous routine eye exam here a few years prior. It causes me to wonder why, when the office does not appear to be in the least bit "busy", a patient who has health care coverage via medical assistance, is subjected to excessive wait time. Certainly other patients would have expressed complaints about excessive wait times if they had encountered them.
