This couple is nothing short of amazing. After asking four other brokers in the Anacortes area if…read morethey could sell our 30-year old 32-foot boat and being told by each one in turn that they couldn't, but they had a name of someone who might, these two stepped up. Not only were they happy to take it on, they ended up having a covered slip we could moor it in while we waited for it to sell. A previous boat we owned took about a year to sell with another broker, and we were listing our boat in the Fall, so I was highly skeptical when they assured us our boat would sell quickly. I didn't think anyone would even look at it before the Spring. I was happily proven wrong. Not only did they report several lookers within weeks of it being listed, they had a prospective buyer by December. We had a potential issue with the closing taking place while we were out of country, but they helped us work around that issue and ensure that the boat ended up sold. If you're looking to sell (or buy) a boat in the La Connor/Anacortes/San Juans area, these are the people to work with.

Our boat was a 53 year old wooden boat and it sold in less than 3 months. Older wooden boats can be on the market for years! They are centrally located in NW Washington, on the Docks in La Conner.

Scott's vision and guidance in designing the enclosure was fantastic. Their attention to detail, accommodation of our particular requests, and quality of workmanship was outstanding. They also worked their butts off to get our enclosure done a day ahead of schedule so that we could make a weather window, something I was very appreciative of. I looked at other products from other vendors before selecting Scott and was unimpressed. Scott's vision and commitment to end product quality was very impressive. I highly recommend Scott and Design Techniques for anything they do!

I had emailed them 2 times just to get some info about an older Volvo motor and possibilities regarding it's issue. They never responded so I called them yesterday, and after they found the 2nd email, they answered the questions. So I said please respond to the email. Then today I got a call from a Brandon, while he told me of the possibilities on the phone, he would not put anything in writing, i.e. email response, not even that there are a lack of parts for this motor. I've had good luck dealing with these guys in the past, but I don't know about this Brandon guy and his boss. Finally, upset I did call a 3rd time after being hung up by him twice, and he told me after talking to his boss that they would pass on looking at it, even though they work on Volvo boat motors. Very surprised and disappointed with these guys. Honestly, I hate posting negative reviews and prefer to post 5 stars as I often do for people, but I don't know how anybody can say West Coast Marine Services didn't earn this 1 star! The boat was detailed and immaculate as well as having a full tank of fuel. They had it in the water for my pick up and after a brief walk through of the electronics etc, I was on my way. They offered to have a technician ride with me on a trial but I'v made my living running boats so I declined. I'm very pleased with the purchase and would recommend them. My only issue was their banks would not loan to me because I live on a boat. Regardless of exceptional credit I was a "flight risk". ?? Besides, their rates were crazy. Their inquires hit my credit rating a bit which annoyed me. So I went through People's Bank who I've dealt with for years. Should have just done so off the bat as the rates were 4 points lower, and no nonsense. Other than that (not the businesses fault) it was a seamless experience.

I had a warranty maintenance issue that service tried to charge me $92 for, I had to advocate for myself strongly to get that reversed. When the canvas was repaired, service gave me the run around instead of scheduling delivery to me (as was promised multiple times by the general manager). We're in the area for a wedding, and kept seeing the La Merced from the road as we'd drive into town. I'd read about it online on various roadside oddity sites and was pretty thrilled to see it in person. To explain, the La Merced is a big, hulking ship that's just pulled up onto dry land, dirt-filled, and with all these little trees just growing out of it. From afar it looks like an old steel ship, but it's all wood, with nails and portholes and doors still on it. As we came closer we could see part of the hull collapsed into the water with the big nails just scattered everywhere. There are signs prohibiting getting closer than the docks. What little I've been able to find about the ship is that it was built a little before 1920 and was put there in the '70s after falling out of use. Altogether, it's just fascinating to look at.
