How I wish I had read these reviews FIRST. What a crappy place to buy from. I ordered and paid for samples, decided what I wanted and paid for it. Packaging is great! But the color of what I got compared to the sample was no where close. I sent pictures in and this is the response - pay close attention to the 2nd paragraph because NO, THE COLOR OF THE SAMPLE CANNOT APPEAR DIFFERENT BECAUSE OF THE SIZE. These panels are CLEARLY not the color of the sample and the project they are for they NEED TO BE THE SAMPLE COLOR. Hi Lorraine Thank you for reaching out, and I do understand your concern regarding the color difference between the sample and the finished panels. After reviewing your photo, the variation you are seeing is related to the nature of our Artisan finishes. Our Artisan finishes are hand applied and hand polished, which means each production run can have slight tonal variations. In addition, the larger embossed panels reflect light differently than the smaller flat sample piece. Lighting angles, shadows, and the depth of the pattern can make the full panels appear lighter or darker depending on the environment. The sample tile in the center of your photo is also much smaller than the full 2' x 2' panels, so the finish can appear more concentrated and darker on the sample than on a larger surface area. Per our policies, Artisan finishes are made to order and are nonreturnable. Because we manufacture each order specifically for the customer, we do not have the ability to restock or store finished products, so I am unable to issue a refund for the order. I truly apologize that the final appearance did not fully match your expectations, and I appreciate you bringing your concerns to our attention. I placed an order in November, and it's still not been shipped. I think this business may be a SCAM. Calling AMEX today.

Buyer Beware The pattern on the ceiling tiles are not stamped square with the blanks! So don't expect the edges of the blanks to line up. I got ahold of customer service and they replied right away.(only good thing I can say about this company). They told me the production supervisor said they don't need to be square just line up the dimples. It just makes it real hard to get a good looking ceiling when what you are working with is NOT square. This is just my experience with this company. Thank you for your attention to this matter. read more

I bought their crown molding and the way the materials are constructed, you can't avoid having large visible gaps between panels. It looks absolutely terrible and I had to buy something else from Home Depot instead. They wouldn't accept a return even though they admitted I had installed it correctly and told me to use caulking to hide the gaps better. Horrible customer service for a bad product design - they literally told me I needed to "adjust my expectations" about their product when I described the gaps. The ceiling panels are nice, just don't buy the molding. And be aware that you'll not be able to get a refund or file a chargeback due to their 7 day return policy. I don't know any construction project that's complete within 7 days. Buyer beware! read more

Called today and had the pleasure of speaking with Ken. NIGHT AND DAY DIFFERENCE when it came to answering questions and helping to suggest what to do with a change order that we received for a client. Explained to him what was going on, and we came up with a great resolution. As an update: Clients received their ceiling tiles 3 weeks before we anticipated receiving and they were thrilled. So were we because of the scheduling of subs to perform work the scheduled work? More to come in the coming weeks with pics as we complete this formal dining room to a formal bar. read more

American Tin gets an A+. I ordered 4, 24x24 of their classic molded tin tiles and folded tin trim piece. The order was shipped immediately after purchase and packaged extremely diligently to avoid scratching or bending. I did not use their free instillation help-line but it's nice they provide that. Our new stove backsplash is beautiful and goes great with our 1959 ranch-style home. Its seamless and we couldn't be happier with the results. read more

I was very impressed with the products American ceilings had to offer. I took the time to order samples and decide what would work best for my kitchen. I placed the order and they took the money from my account. I just received a call from a gal that I think was trying to help me, but she came off as very rude. told me my order was not what I wanted and made me feel like I was an idiot. Needless to say, I canceled the order and will be ordering from somewhere else that wants my business. read more

These tiles are very pretty. We bought the snap lock For our ceiling. You still have to use screws. Fairly easy to install. the paint flakes off easily if the tile gets bent a little. The corners don't exactly flush together and it leaves a little hole at all the spots that the tiles meet together. That's disappointing. My husband says it's just poor design. If the lip had been just slightly longer that hole wouldn't show so much since there would be white behind it. It's not looking quite as nice as I had hoped. It's still looks better than my old ceiling. read more

Love to buy American because of quality. This is not the case for this company. I ordered samples of colors, fell in love with one and called to order my backsplash. Gave them my specs and they assisted in placing the order. They recommended ordering all pieces at the same time to ensure colors to match perfectly since these are made to order. 5 weeks later I finally received my order, the backsplash was blue vs green and the switch plates were a different color blue. So much for matching perfectly. (See attached pictures). After seeing pictures they stated it was because of the pattern I picked making the color "slightly off". They agreed to send me a new order matching the sample. 7 weeks later I receive second order, top row of each panel was different color from bottom row on same panel. Fortunately the bottoms rows matched the sample closer to what I could live with and my rise would not include the top row. Lastly, when I received my first order it contained 5 panels (what the customer service rep insisted I needed for space). I needed three at most. When speaking to them about replacement, I inquired why they sold me so much, sale rep stated they always added more to all orders in case of error. "So unused materials can be returned" I said, oh no these are custom order and cannot be returned. So I paid for supplies I did not need, buyer beware. read more

Good product, terrible terrible service! Mailed the product to the wrong location. I had to pay to have it shipped to correct Location. Then I've been calling for 4 weeks to get a refund on shipping. Just wanted to drop in and review because it's always a pain to get info on online businesses. There are a lot of online ceiling tile manufacturers and it's hard to tell which are legit... I ordered 180 square feet of (unfinished) faux tin ceiling tile from these guys, and I was pleased with the results. They shipped almost immediately (to NYC) and I had the tiles in less than a week. They arrived in good condition and look good. Also, it was an order of magnitude cheaper than Lowe's, which is the way to make me happy. read more

Update: I did finally receive my refund for both orders. I have dreamed of a tin backsplash for years. I found this company online, ordered samples so that i could be sure I picked the right color, and finally ordered about $700 worth of backsplash supplies. The tiles were very pretty. At a later date I again ordered more supplies, including outlet covers, because I did not order enough the first time ( on-going kitchen project, didn't order the right outlet covers the first time and didn't order enough J-channel). I received the outlet covers and the color was completely different than what I ordered. I called and emailed photos the next day, and never received a response. I called again and spoke with a very nice woman who told me that all orders are custom-made, and that if I wanted to match what I originally ordered I was supposed to have sent them photos.... I agreed that they were custom-made. However, nowhere on the website did I read that I would need to send in photos to match a previous order. This is why I ordered samples first; so I would know what color I wanted. I explained this to the woman, and asked her if she thought the color of the outlets in the photo matched or looked similar to the color of my already-mostly-installed backsplash, and got not response. I can't be the only person in the history of this company who needed to order additional supplies? If a color is called "artisan silver washed white", shouldn't it have silver in it? Shouldn't there be a standard "artisan silver washed white" the company uses to match all newly made tiles? So, I was promised my recent order would be cancelled and I would receive my money back, and I would also receive a refund for the outlets that didn't match that I had already received. Little did I know that trying to get my money back would take an act of Congress. I have called at least twice this week and emailed, and...nothing. Now I have a half-completed backsplash, and nothing to show for about $250 of product that I will not get because that order was cancelled, and apparently I am not getting my money back either. read more

I ordered 4 backsplash panels and 3 J channels from American Tin Ceilings on 4/17/23. I called them on 4/27/23 because I had not yet received my panels. I was told they wouldn't be shipped until 5/18/23 so I won't actually get them until the end of May which is way too late for my rehab time frame. That's 5 weeks to get 4 panels with one of their "standard" color choices. It's a pretty small order so I wanted to find another vendor that could get me panels sooner but was told I couldn't cancel the order because they were in process. They have nothing in stock. So, I can't cancel the order or get my money back due to how slow their process is. None of this was explained when I placed my order. I have both a tin backsplash for my bar at home and a tin ceiling for my office. I am extremely happy with both. I used a Artisan Finished panels (Copper Brushed Bronze) for the backsplash. The antique finish is terrific and I appreciate that the trim and outlet covers that I ordered match the tile. I used Pattern 18 (they recommend using patterns with 6" repeats be used for backsplashes). I chose the Old Bronze finish for my office ceiling on Pattern 13 and also used Filler to transition between the tiles and the tin crown molding (C1) that I selected. The staff was very helpful in providing layout options and I appreciated that they provided corner miter cuts for the crown molding free of charge. I thought my experience was great. The website has a ton of pictures of installations and the color/pattern tool is really helpful as you are exploring options. My orders shipped very quickly. read more

We thought this company would be reliable and honest. We were WRONG! We researched several companies before choosing them. Their sales person claimed the order would arrive in 2 to 3 weeks. We waited three weeks and no product or word from them. We called the company and asked where the order was. They had not begun to process the order and we were told it would be another 2 to 3 weeks supposedly. They said the items were going to be painted the following week. That's odd, because the sales person told us 3 weeks ago that our products were going to be painted 2 days after our order was placed... Apparently, this company is disorganized, deceitful and dishonest. They don't adhere to schedules. If you have a time frame that requires prompt and accurate work, don't buy from them! read more

I'm still waiting for my order that was supposed to ship the week of 7/5/21. At first I would get a response to my request for a status update although I was given the same excuse every time; "2 machines are down and we have people working 12 hour shifts to catch up on orders". When I followed up on 8/5/21, I was told my order would be stamped the following week and then forwarded for the paint process. I understand the Artisan finishes are custom orders, but no longer responding to my requests for a status update is not acceptable. We are now approaching 2 months past the expected ship date and I have no idea when or if I will receive my $425 order. Being upfront about the length of time it will ACTUALLY take would save a lot of frustration and stress for all concerned. read more

These tiles do not install as instructed. The nails have no heads so do not anchor the tiles to the wall. The nail holes are too sparse and do not properly overlap each other. If you nail a hole through the tin tile it shatters the paint. The ONLY WAY to install these is to use Liquid Nails Fuse It to adhere them to the wall, but buy the time you figure this out you have ruined the tiles by trying to follow their install instructions. With just a few simple changed this COULD be a great product. read more

I ordered a sample pack of colors that I like. This was a great idea, the time between placing the order and shipping the order was reasonable. I was emailed the tracking numbe, to track my order which was great as I was super excited to get the samples and pick a color for the tiles. My package made its way to North Salt Lake, UT, however this is were everything went out the door and my poor rating. My package sat in UT for 2 days, then it was shipped to PA, mind you that I live in Nevada. Then it was shipped back to North Salt Lake UT, where it sat for 5 days, then shipped back to PA. When I called both FedEx and American Tin, I got no help and just a bunch of bs from them. My package is now sitting in NJ and has been for three days. Both American Tin and FedEx have very poor customer service. American Tin made no effort to offer to resend the samples using a different shipping company, no offer of refunding the cost of the samples, no offer of a discount once (if) I was to receive my samples and place a order, no offer of nothing. A little more info on this order. I placed the order on 3-21-2021, it was shipped on 3-25-2021. The email with shipping information states that it takes up to 7 business days to receive. I was given a delivery date of 4-1-2021, as this was a Thursday I waited for the next Monday to call FedEx first, then the next day I called the company. We'll, several phone calls to both companies and still no package. The tracking information now says the delivery date is 4-16-2021. This is well over American Tin's up to 7 business days delivery time. I'm now looking at other companies to do business with, which is a shame are there were some patterns that I really liked and a few colors that I was liking. There site only shows positive feed back, but I did find a few places that have negative feed back all saying the same things that I have posted. Thanks for nothing! read more

I have tons of complaints about this company. Do noT expect the "pre-coped crown to be cut well, it is cut by hand and when you call them they say you are expected to cut it yourself, clearly not what is stated on theIR website and installation videos. Also they don't package their material well. they do not place corner protectors, then blame fedex for the damage. I have experienced this on multiple attempts, now 6 months after my original order I still don't have what I need and they will not refund me, ridiculous, they do not care about customer satisfaction, very surprised Homedepot partners with this company. Do yourself a favor and stay FAR away from American Tin Ceilings. read more

I bought the snap lock ceiling tiles. Be aware that they have a 7 day return policy and they have to authorize the return. The tiles arrived damaged on the corners and bent edges, but I did not find this out until it was time to install the tiles several weeks later. The tongue and groove system will not fit flush, the corners had to be flattened back as well as possible, and the tiles require you to make gaps to get the tiles to line up straighter. Six of the eight tiles left cannot be used to finish the project. After the fact, they call their own products inherently imperfect, so do not expect a quality product that lines up to make a beautiful ceiling. Do not expect them to stand behind their products. The Snap Lock system costs significantly more and you end up with the look of an acoustic drop in ceiling. All they offered to me as a solution was the tip to go back and space out the tiles. I would stay far away from this company. I had to work way too hard to get a quote and ended up with having to scrap the tiles and get the drywall repaired. read more

I'm typically not a review writer, however.......after I read through some of the reviews on this site I felt I must. It definitely appears as though the bad reviews are purely out of ignorance. (Of product or process) We have an old 1901 home and have used American Tin tiles in three of our room remodels so far. The staff was very helpful every time. The product was excellent top quality as advertised. Any company in any industry is going to have busy times that is going to affect production times but American Tin has always had our product ready when they said it would be. If you don't know what your doing or don't want to learn then don't write a bad review. Especially for a good American made company. read more

It is embarrassing that the business advertises "Made in USA" and sends out such substandard products. I wanted tin ceilings in one room. I ordered samples, and then separately ordered a few full sized tiles, just to make sure. When I received the final order, it was a mess. The tile were not square and the pattern was not stamped out correctly. The finished edges are wavy. Seriously wavy. And not just one or two, ALL of the ceiling tiles were cut or rolled irregular. This made installation difficult and unsightly. See photos. They have you by the short hairs. Too much time has passed between ordering, shipping and installation. Postage is expensive and it's cumbersome to send them back. By the time they were delivered, we were so desperate to get the ceiling finished...any ceiling, that we installed them. Fortunately, our 10 foot ceilings put some distance between the floor making a close inspection of the installed ceiling tiles difficult. If you can get far enough away, the manufacturing flaws are not as noticeable. I won't be doing this again. I have other tin ceiling dreams, but I'll be ordering elsewhere. Anything's got to be better than this. read more

BEWARE!!! You may wait for months to get your product even if it is their standard product!!! This product looks amazing online and we were so excited to add it to our remodel plans. Sadly, I just cancelled our order after 22 days of waiting for our panels to be shipped. This company has awful customer service. When we ordered, we received an email that our order would ship in 6-10 days. After 2 weeks we called and were told it would ship by the end of the month. Called on the last day of the month and was told that due to manufacturing lines, the order hadn't even been completed yet so it should ship by the end of the week. When asked what would happen if it didn't ship, we were told then it would ship Monday or Tuesday. I understand that things happen, but at no point did American Tin Ceiling Reah out to us to explain the delay or offer any communication. Additionally, when speaking to customer service, they offered no remorse or even understanding for the issues that their lack of communication and delayed shipping was causing to us, their customer. This is an expensive product that is paid for up front. I would not recommend using this company to anyone. They sell on Amazon and Wayfair. Maybe it's better through them, but from the reviews there, it doesn't appear to be so. read more

Have ordered from them three times and all three times we had excellent product, very timely shipping and great customer service . Two drop in ceilings which look great. For places where we couldn't reach in for clips to hold them flat (ducts in the way), we cut Masonite to drop in on top and it worked even better than the clips. The third was a nail up ceiling and the washed copper finish looks great. The channels that fit the tiles together fit very nicely as well. I can't speak to the cost comparisons because I don't know of anyone with a comparable product; these are very well made. The customer service number is very helpful re both ordering and installation. Their website is very clear about no returns, as they make the tiles to order, but will send sample tiles (worth the slight cost if you are unsure of the pattern). They also are clear (but it bears repeating) that the tiles are 2' x 2', so if it is a 6" pattern the tile repeats the pattern 16 times, rather than being 16 smaller tiles. We have been very pleased with these folks and will stop using them only when we run out of ceilings. read more

Amazing customer service! I ordered last night and then found a better price online this morning. I used their "live chat" option on their website and asked to cancel the order. The customer service person said they could but wanted to know what they needed to do to keep my business. Can't wait to receive the tiles! I'll edit this if there are any issues! read more

Beautiful options, but we only found the pattern and color that we liked in their ceiling tile section. Nothing on the site seemed to indicate differences in their types of tiles except for the way that they are mounted. Ceiling was with nails, so we figured it should work for backsplash. It took weeks for it to come in which delayed our project, and then it turns out each tile is a 2'x2' single pattern. I've never seen anything like it. It would look beautiful on a ceiling in a mansion. Unfortunately, not for our backsplash. I spoke to a manager and since the color we loved is a special order color, we were stuck spending several hundred dollars on something we can never use. No return policy. I purchased item # 11 on Sunday 1/5/19 and received them on Friday 1/11/19. After I had made my online purchase I checked out some of the reviews. I do believe shipping is excessive but my experience from purchase to delivery was one of my best online purchase experiences. I ordered enough tile for one room to not knowing what the quality of the product would be. I was pleasantly surprised with the tiles quality and look. The packaging was extremely good. Now that I got my first order from them I just need to pick out what patterns I will put in the other rooms. I ordered several samples from the company and then chose a specific sample and ordered from the sample. When the tiles finally came in after 3 weeks they were not the same as the sample which were a much brighter green color. I called the company and sent pictures of the sample and the actual tiles that i ordered, they said yes they could see the difference and would pick them up and redo them. They picked them up and after another 3 weeks sent the new tile again, well they looked like the same tiles that we sent back. I sent pictures again of the difference in the sample and the ones that we received, this time with no response. We went ahead and used them because we couldn't wait any longer after 6 weeks. Terrible quality tin. Very flimsy and light. The snap/lock feature makes it look cheap as you will notice the edges that make it look like drop ceiling tiles! Also, got very bad advice, was told to buy 41 pieces but only needed 36, which means I spent $50 plus tax too much. The so-called crown moldings were a total waste of time and money. I spent $75 plus a ridiculous amount for shipping on moldings that don't sit right in the corners. In the end I had to switch to wood crown moldings which looked ten times better than the flimsy tin. Design services were questionable as I was told a certain design was 12-unch but in reality it only repeated in every 24 sq. Inches, making the scale of it much too large for my small ceiling. They refused to own up to this faulty description on their website, or lack of direction from their design "experts." The allowed me to d change, but would not remove the shipping costs both ways...Shipping costs were a major rip-off as the company definitely overcharged, but did not say that they make a profit on shipping costs until I needed to return the first shipment they sent me. In the end I ended up spending about $250 more than was necessary, not to mention the cost of the wood crown moldings and the aggravation. Do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere. Very poor quality products and service. read more
