When I first discussed having my TV cabinet and coffee table with Dave redone, I told him I wanted…read moreit stained to match my new floors. He asked lighter or darker and I said lighter if possible. I didn't ask for color samples and that was a huge mistake. I take responsibility in that. Both of my pieces had nice woodgrain but too much red in the stain and I wanted Gray/brown. He seemed very nice and polite at the time. When the TV cabinet and table were delivered I was shocked to see them "stained" to look like a solid paint color. I ended up asking him to come back and redo the coffee table so I could see the woodgrain. It was an expensive table with beautiful wood. When he came he grumbled about how good it looked and told me he would rework it at cost and do a rub on my TV cabinet to give it more texture. A few weeks later he left me a VM asking me to come to the shop to approve the table, but because of being out of town I texted him asking for pictures instead. I got an abrupt text back saying DO NOT TEXT. Call or email if you want a reply. I thought this was really rude but complied and sent an email. Didn't get a response so I sent a follow up a few days later. He sent pictures in an email and scheduled a time to bring the table back. I replied to remind him to bring the glaze he said he would do on my TV cabinet. Today he came and dropped off the table. I am not thrilled with it but said it's better. His reply "It's not what you originally asked for"... Really??? What a chump. Then I asked him about the glaze he said he would do on the TV cabinet and he said he wouldn't do it and have me some clear coat to do it myself. If you use this company DO NOT leave it up to him to decide what stain to use. Be very clear of what you want and select the color yourself. I had no idea that he would use a solid stain. I was expecting a clear tinted stain where the woodgrain showed, but in a less red color. I spent $1400 and my nice furniture looks like I painted it myself. He was rude on top of all of this even though I was very polite in my requests.

I went back and fourth for a few weeks on what I would do with the floors. I had bamboo in the house and red oak in the rooms. I knew I'd want to refinish the red oak, but didn't know what I wanted to do with the bamboo. I considered ripping it out, but after hearing you could refinish bamboo, I weighed out my options (and budget) and went with refinishing. I called Neil up and he gave me a ball park after sending him some pics, then came in for an official quote. Neil is super professional. He had an iPad and showed me photos of a recent job he did on bamboo. It looked like it was brand spankin' new. We agreed on a date. He was scheduled to come in Thursday, but I called him Tuesday to let him know that I'd have the other work done by WED, if he'd want to move up the date. He was super accommodating and came in a day earlier to get the job done. The floors came out incredible. All the beat up scratches the floor had were GONE. The clear gloss made the floors pop and look brand new. He even fixed a couple damaged areas for me and added new landings where the doors are. Amazing work. A few days later I got my cabinets installed. And well, these guys weren't as professional....and dragged the fridge on the new floor. Neil came BACK out and took a look at it and unfortunatly there was nothing he could do for this one. He was honest and said if he touched it up it would look HORRIBLE....we'd have to redo the whole floor. He did touch up a spot I needed by the stove. He laid down another quote of gloss to make sure it matched the rest of the floor. Overall his professionalism, and quick, quality work were above my expectations. 100% worth the money as it was maybe 1/2 of what I would have paid for new floors.
