I never tried something here and didn't like it. It's so dangerous. If you're shopping and are from out of town, if you buy 6 or more jars they can ship it to your home! They have free recipes cards for things you buy too! They don't use preservatives here and a lot of the produce they use to make their jams and honey are local! I dream of this place. Such a cute little store right in downtown Traverse City. All kinds of jelly's, salsa & sauces. Prices are reasonable but it's easy spend a lot of money since everything looks and sounds so delicious. They also have recipe cards throughout the store for all kinds of delicious ideas that their products can be used in. Staff is friendly and helpful answering any questions and taking care that purchases are packed safely. If you're wondering around downtown Traverse definitely stop in. read more

This place is a haven for ice cream lovers. Their gelatos and sorbettos are amazing! Try their strawberry and mango gelato. I had their blood orange sorbetto (yes, that's right) and it is OUT of this world! If blood orange is not exotic enough, I don't know what is. It is a must try in Traverse City. p/s: A small cup is about $3 but it's a little tiny for that price. read more

Went to this location after a wonderful experience at the one in Grand Traverse Resort, and wow, what a difference. The guy working here was very condescending and snotty, and we walked out without making a purchase. This is my daughters favorite jam store but things changed because we were yelled at by the staff today because we didn't notice there was a limit due to COVID. American Spoon Foods has gotten more expensive recently -- $8.95 for a pint of jam? Yikes. This place seems so unwelcoming, too. Their products are great, but I'd rather go to Cherry Republic. It's more fun and welcoming, and while it's just as expensive, they don't glare at you while you sample their products. read more

I could have stayed in this store ALL DAY. I am from further south than my in-laws and husband and never had the "Michigan summer trips" they did to eat all of the amazing cherry products and jams that the mitten is known for, basically I am making up for lost time and love buying local products. After some hard decisions I left with red raspberry butter, apple butter (as a gift for my mom), Cherry compote and a jar of mushroom relish. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I did have a strange experience as I was checking out - my husband asked how long items would keep after opening, one employee pulled out paperwork to try and find out details for each item- going above and beyond to answer a question. The other staff member kept shooting down her efforts by saying things like "that can't be right, mine has been good for a year after opening, etc" several times. Although the store was almost empty on a weekday morning it felt like the second staff member was trying to just get us to leave while the first was trying to help and be friendly. I left feeling a bit strange, especially after spending a good chunk of change to buy the products. Aside from the mixed experience checking out I loved the store and am eagerly awaiting eating my raspberry butter! I would come back if in the area to see how a second visit is! read more

An Italian variation on the Ice Cream. They had many less common fruit topping for purchase which looked great. The ice cream has more emphasis on the fruit than on the cream that places like Cold stone have. I had the mango gelato, a bit sour and unusual in a good way. Adequate portions. Nice and clean place. Overall I liked it. read more

Just had the Sour Cherry Preserves on bread I bought. Fantastic! I was surprised at how many whole cherries there are. My family just visited the 28th of July, 2017 in Traverse City. The preserves get a 5 Star, but the Lady working kept glaring at us and everyone else sampling the products. While checking out she was not friendly what-so-ever and never spoke! A note to American Spoon Foods about your Salted Maple Caramel, your recipe has issues. I just opened the 3rd jar of the product I've had since you started making it. It has a best by date that is six months away and half the unopened jar is crystalized. This has been the case for all three jars I've purchased. They all have had different dates and batch numbers on them. And each one has had crystallization in the product, which means either your recipe has problems or the process to make it has issues. This stuff costs $12.95 for a half pint, finding it always crystalized long before the best by date is ridiculous. Never again. read more

My family and I always stop in here when we are up in Traverse City. We love scanning all of the canned items. My daughter absolutely loves the lemon curd and cannot get enough of it. Even if we don't et anything else, I can assure you that we leave the store with least one lemon curd. read more

This used to be our absolute favorite place for gelato and sorbet. Unfortunately, they just remodeled and have replaced the gelato freezer case with a kitchen for classes and demos. :( The girl working there was just as disappointed as my son and I were about it. She said they will soon have pints of a few flavors of gelato available, but that's just not the same as going out on a hot evening to get a dish of ice cream. Their jams, salsas, etc. are still pretty good (although pricey and I can make equally good stuff at home so I won't shop there), but it's sad that we've had to say good-bye to the best gelato place around. read more

Excellent gelato at American Spoon, with lots of variety. The staff was very polite and helpful, and in good cheer when we went there. My wife and I visited on a Saturday night and sampled a few of their jelly's and salsa's before getting the gelato. I had a coffee-flavored dessert and she sampled a three others. It was so good we ended up going back Sunday after breakfast while walking through downtown. They also offer a punch-card for a free gelato after 10 purchases. Highly recommended! read more
