Hands down!!!! Best Hair cuts! Best shave and beard trim! in nj great service and a beautiful team read more

Nice place, easy to schedule. Jose did a good job with a basic haircut but I have to say, I'm not a big fan of paying in advance.

Overall negative experience. Barber didn't disclose that he doesn't speak English until halfway through the haircut. I'm not sure why he pretended to understand the instructions that I gave him. The cut was bad- he did things that I told him not to do. I chalk this up to the language barrier. Something else that I particularly did not enjoy was the barber putting styling product in my hair without asking and before I could confirm that I liked the cut, not that he could understand. It's perfectly fine for the barber to be non-English-speaking, but that barrier needs to be expressed at some point before hair is shaved or cut. I won't be returning. You should avoid Jenderson like the plague. read more

I had a great haircut by Nick twice in the past few months. Both times he took great care in giving the perfect shade at the back and around the ears. He was super patient and knowledgeable about working with my spiky Asian hair. The place has good music, ample space between seats, lots of TVs and a comfy lounge feel. They also honor their appointment times, which I appreciate. Definitely going back. read more

I came in last week for a trim. It was more than a shape-up so I got the classic cut. Cool setup here with magazines and Esquire channel on the TV. I never understood who would watch the Esquire channel. But, if fits in in these type of places. Kevin was my pilot and he had excellent communication skill making sure what I wanted and he delivered. I just wanted a trim around my ears and thin out my my forest of hair. I ended up looking like I didn't get a haircut. They use the compressed air to shoo away your hair. But it's very loud. It's better than a blow dryer i guess. I'd come back here in a few months for a hot shave once I grow more face grass. Credit card accepted. Street parking might be hard to come by. I think you can parking the shared parking lot. You best be a customer or the Union rent a cop on his wannabe segway will ticket you. I didn't check out the bathroom like I always do at most places. But, I'm sure it's manly. read more

Juan , of the american shave team has been cutting my hair for years . Juan is meticulous with his haircuts and you will never leave disappointed . The Shop is super clean and the decor is very trendy . The staff makes you feel like a valuable customer. The parking is limited to on the street but in back of the mall is a township lot you may also park . read more

Love this place. Check in and making appointments is so easy. My barber, Luis, does an amazing job.

During the COVID, shop stayed very clean and up to date with all protocols. I've been to a lot of barbershops and nothing beats this place. I can bring my kids here and be relaxed. Very drama free atmosphere and family friendly. I definitely recommend this place. read more

I got married in July and decided to treat myself to a shave and a haircut 2 days before my wedding. I sat down in the chair and got my haircut (which was just OK) and then it was time for the shave. It started out nice with the hot towels and shaving cream, but the second the straight blade came out, that is when the trouble started. I got nicked really bad on the right side of my face and could feel the blood dripping. I also got nicked (although not as bad) on the left side of my face. I didn't get an apology or anything. I actually didn't know how bad it was until I got home. It was a pretty big cut, the whole wound was the size of a dime. I could have gotten a better shave with a disposable razor. We just got our wedding pictures back, and this dime sized cut is in almost EVERY picture. It looks awful. I will never come to this place again. Everytime I look at my wedding pictures I get mad. read more

Was visiting Newark on business, and needed a haircut. Being one who freaks out over a straggler hair or two, I did some quick research to find what might be a reputable barber shop. I came across this shop, American Shave. Went in around noon, didn't wait very long, and a nice lady brought me a coffee. The bottom line: Juan cut my hair and laced me up better than most barbers who've ever cut my hair. I told him what I wanted and he exceeded my expectations. I'm a complicated one when it comes to being in the barber seat - the type James Dean must have been. I'd highly recommend this barber for anyone in the Newark area. read more

I went to American Classic Shave a couple of months ago for a haircut. I was looking for a good barber place in Essex/Union county and just walked in without making an appointment. They were about to close down for the day, but Manny was kind enough to keep the place open and sat me down for a haircut. He spent a good amount of time asking questions and trying to understand exactly what I was looking for. So in summary: great cut and great service. Will be going there again. Tip: this place is very busy, so make an appointment. read more

I had been looking for a decent place around here to get my beard trimmed and what not and hadn't been able to find one. I didn't want to go to some place that would just take clippers to my goatee and charge me $20. American Shave is not only wicked cool (obviously aimed towards men) on the inside, but the guys there make you feel OK about getting your haircut by a man (as a man who has always had women). Andrew, who did my goatee and shave, was very meticulous at what he did paying a lot of attention to detail. Honestly, the shave and beard trimming took longer than a normal haircut for me would take. I didn't need a haircut this time, but plan on going back to check that out as well even though it's a bit out of my way. If you are meticulous about your beard (or hair, I assume) and don't have the time or patience to groom it all the time, this is a great place. I plan on going here once a month from now on just for this. I don't think my goatee has ever been so neat! Price was great, too... only $15 for a hot lather straight edge shave and the goatee trimming. read more

I love this place. I've been a client of the owner "Manny" for about 20yrs now and have followed him to different locations that he worked or owned. His professionalism and expertise of the industry is by far one of the best. He coaches his staff to be the same and you can see that when you when your in the shop. It's a great place for a haircut, they have a great products for hair and beards. I suggest you check this place out especially if you are looking for new barber, new to the area or just want to try something different. read more

I've tried barber shops across the country and just my luck my favorite one is 2600 miles away. Manny, Juan and all the guys at the shop make you feel like family and give consistent results. Still five stars.... Unfortunately, Ralph is no longer at American Shave. On the bright side, I got a fantastic haircut from Manny last evening. This place is fantastic is a cut above the rest (sorry for the pun). American Shave - Always a great experience.. - Barbers Near Me - Kenilworth, New Jersey

What can I say, I like this place. You get a professional cut at a decent price. The service is excellent and friendly, if anything they try too hard which isn't a bad thing exactly. Another reviewer commented that the appointment by text is really a nice feature and I must admit that it is a game changer. read more

We all need a good reason to give ourself a treat. American Shave is just that. A Treat for the mind body and face. So why not do just that. Give yourself a treat. No reason other than you deserve one. I am not saying change your barber, for most of us changing your barber is like changing our drink, we just don't do that so often. I am saying give yourself a treat. Try something new and wonderful. Try a Old Fashion Towel Shave, or A Hole New Look. Many who is the first chair, owner, operator, is the best. read more

Have been going here for about 3 years and cant say enough great things about the place. Have always gone to Manny and even brought my two young sons in who's hair was cut by Jesus. Place is clean. Everyone is courteous and, most importantly, I get a fantastic haircut every 3 weeks. read more

Hands down, this is the *best* place in Union and probably the best place in New Jersey to get your hair cut. The owner, Manny, has been cutting my hair regularly for over a year now, and I am always happy with the results. Beyond the quality of Manny's cuts, it's the level of service and respect for their clients that I value the most about American Shave. When I make an appointment for a cut I know that they will be ready to take me on time. If I have to wait, it's because I'm early, never because they're late. I absolutely recommend getting your hair cut at American Shave Classic Barber! read more

Barber messed me up. I asked to trim a half an inch and the barber cuts basically everything off. As well as the barber cutting unevenly. I wouldn't go here again. If you ever want to book an appointment don't request for Diego. read more

I got a haircut for the first time here last Saturday (29th) because a friend recommended this place and Juan took care of me and gave me a fresh haircut that I loved. 100% coming back to Juan because of how good he is. I never felt so clean and good after a haircut before this. read more

Always perfecting the craft. Yes !!! I'm definitely keeping them on speed dial. My regular barber always does his best to squeeze me in when possible read more

Went there for a hot shave today. Had a terrible experience, didn't get a hot shave at the beginning because they got it wrong, the girl was very nice but she hacked me up! I paid and left only to realize that it was the worst shave I had ever seen, left patches everywhere. I went back and should've asked for my money back, but let her try to fix it instead. What a mistake, still wasn't right and feels like I shaved with a rusty blade and no shaving cream. Hours later my face is still on fire. Never Again! read more

American Shave is an extremely nice, upscale barber shop. The decor is awesome, and really makes you feel nice when going to get your ears lowered. Great design and layout, leather couches in the waiting area, and good music playing throughout the shop. About 6 barbers on call, and it's usually by appointment only. They also have a system for making an appointment via text message, which is extremely efficient and modern. The place is staffed with great cutters, and they give you a complimentary hair wash afterward (which is always a plus). A haircut is about $20, but you get what you pay for. They also sell hair products galore, as well as throwback razors. Definitely my place of choice for a haircut, and I'd recommend it to anyone in Union needing a good experience. read more

This place has terrible customer service and the owner has no compassion whatsoever. I arrived here at 6:25p after I found out that my sons barber shop closed at 6p. I asked if they can do just a line up on my son because he was going on a cruise the next day and I got off of work late. I practically begged these people, mind you they didn't close until 7p. They told me NO, then I had her ask the owner, he didn't even turn to look and see who it was nor did he want to hear that my son had a cruise the next morning. I was desperate to have his hair lined up so he'd look good for his week long cruise. THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO TREAT CUSTOMERS! We ended up at Burnet Ave Barber Shop who actually treated us like human beings and had some compassion. I'll make sure to tell people about my experience here. Absolutely TERRIBLE! read more

I've been coming here for a few years and I can say that it is the best haircut I've ever experienced. Jesus is a master at his craft and always greets me with a handshake and a smile. They don't care about you as a client!!! If you're 10 mins late they. cancel your appointment with no follow up call and KEEP your deposit WITHOUT EVEN TRYING TO GET YOU TO FIT IN THE SCHEDULE. They don't really care about you as a person they don't try to develop relationships you're just a number and their only concern is collecting payment. The barber acts like they just met you for the first time after being a client for over a year!!! Build better relationships and you will have a better business. read more

Where to start with this place. It's awesome!!! Bar none this is the best place to get an official cut. The staff is phenomenal. They are true professionals that know every in and out of a haircut. Nothing about this place is uninviting, everything about this place makes me want to come back. As long as this place is open for business (which there is no reason to believe the doors would be closing anytime soon) I'll be getting my haircut here read more

I've been a client of Jesus for 10 years now. I've followed him to every shop he's been at and this one is by far the best. Very professional atmosphere, good for men and boys; including children. The shop looks nice. Hair cut was just ok. Now the negatives and reason for 2 stars. After I got home I realized the right and left sides around the ear are very uneven. For a $22 hair cut no wash was included which surprised me. The hair cut seemed rushed. And the biggest turn off was that they charge you a $3 surcharge if you pay by credit card. read more
