Smith for taking the the to talk me through the process, being patient with me as my first bp was slightly over the qualifying pressure and supplying me with all the free goodies that I received for doing such a simple act of kindness. The Big Red Bus was not only cool, cozy, and clean but a great source of service to be able to get out to areas that many people can walk or take public transportation to, adding a free fandango ticket and free appetizer is a great added bonus. But how can you be so close to the beach and not get on it. Well, when you can't walk - it's hard! My husband borrowed the hotel's wheelchair and walked me to the beach, but we came upon the American Red Cross Life Saving Corps Beach Chairs! A gentleman explained to us that they were there for people to use. So, I moved from the hotel wheelchair to their Beach-Wheel-chair and had the time of my life!!! Oh, my husband pushed me up and down the beach in & out of the water and even pushed me real slow at times so I could survey for shells... Then sometimes he would run and push me through a flock of birds! Oh the Joy we had during our stay was marvelous!! Thank you All for being there & having those chairs available!! Trust me, If you have someone with you that can't walk the beach, but would like to enjoy it, Borrow one of these Comfy Chairs! They will Love You!!!

According to the American Red Cross Jacksonville Beach is the world's safest beach. This place is deep with tradition since it started back in 1912. The corps really take keeping everyone who comes to the beach safe and out of harms way. I can even still recite the names of all the towers from north to south. That was a most in my recruit class of 77. So maybe I'll come back on opening day of the beaches where everyone can tour the building. Oh the memories this building has for me and may others. Friday we were going to go to the beach, but he opted to spin, then hit his head. After a call and picture sent to a teladoc, we were instructed to call our pediatrician to see if they do stitches (newsflash, they don't). So we had two options, either take him to an oncall place or we could go to the ER. We wound up going to the Wolfson's ER near the Town Center. I checked on the website on the way down there that there was only a six minute wait. Surely, that wasn't the case, because when arrived, the entire parking lot was jam packed. We put on our masks, walked in, where a woman greeted us in a mask and took our temperatures. She asked what we were here for and we told her most likely stitches. I went to the front desk and checked in. Everything was done electronically on an ipad, but the woman at the desk was nice and disinfected the tablet prior to me using it. She said they were only allowing one parent per child, we could wait in the waiting room, but once they called us back, one of us would have to go out to the car or stand outside. We waited no more than two minutes to be called back. It was game time. My sweet baby boy had a boo boo and I wanted to be the one to comfort him. Guess what? When we asked who he wanted to go back with him, he said daddy. Insert broken heart here. I wound up tearing up, telling him to be brave, and to call me if he needed anything. Forty-five minutes later he was patched up, with four stitches, a toy the nurse gave him, and a promise from daddy that he'd get a dinosaur toy. I saw a new podiatrist--someone closer to home after 15 years with my previous one. Change can be…read morehard, but this visit felt like a gift. From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly kind. One woman in particular went above and beyond to make sure my husband was supported, even though I was the patient. Alecia greeted him warmly, described where we were going, made sure he was seated before heading to x-rays, and even announced us when we returned. She extended her hand to shake his and told him she was doing so--a small gesture that means everything when you're blind. That's the thing. Blindness exists on a spectrum. And at a doctor's office, all we really ask is for clear, verbal instructions. The fact that Alecia did that without needing to be asked shows true experience and compassion. And yes--when kindness starts at the front, the doctor is usually just as good. This one was. Dr Bala spoke plainly, showed me my X-rays, describing everything of note, and was incredibly thorough. I left feeling heard, hopeful, and supported. So glad we made the switch.

Volunteered here with my work back in the summer and was so amazed by the campus and all of the…read morethings they have to offer their students. They make and sell dog treats, have an ever growing garden, green house, raise tilapia and so much more. The school serves special needs children and young adults of varying disabilities from the ages of 5 to 21--and even after 21 students have an opportunity to continue in the "post-graduate program." NFSSE does so much for the special needs community of all ages in our city, providing life skills, traditional education, and socialization.
