We've had annual family photo sessions with Hilary for the past five years (and even two sessions…read morein one year!), and she has been phenomenal every single time. She's wonderful with our kids--whether it was a newborn, a fussy toddler, or now more cooperative school-aged kids, she's been able to capture beautiful moments through every stage. One year my younger daughter was especially shy and grumpy about photos, but you'd never know it from the gorgeous images Hilary delivered. She's also great with pets and even got our dog to "smile" at the camera for a few shots this year! We included my parents in a session one year, and Hilary handled the larger family group seamlessly. She also has a great eye for locations, whether it's a tried-and-true spot or somewhere new, and she always makes the most of the setting. On top of that, her pricing is very reasonable, especially since you get to keep all the images from your session, and she's always prompt with delivery. Hilary makes family photos stress-free and fun, and the results are consistently stunning--we look forward to working with her every year.

I reached out to John for some help updating my default professional headshot, and really enjoyed…read morethe comprehensive experience he provided me. We went to 4 different outdoor spots around his studio with distinct backdrops, and for each one we iterated on poses and expressions, and he even picked up on some of my facial idiosyncracies in the process. We then went back into his studio and essentially conducted a realtime review session - viewing all the recently captured shots, flagging ones we liked, and ultimately discussing them until we settled on 2 winners. He then applied some minor edits within Lightroom and within 40 minutes from my initial arrival, I had 2 really sharp headshots which will serve me well for the next 5-7 years. John is incredibly personable and also immediately put me at ease. It is easy to feel stiff or self-concious during something like this, and he made it feel like a real partnership. Highly recommend him and his services. Plus the guy is just fun to chat with.

He's very professional, friendly, quick to respond, and just amazing to work with overall. I had just started wedding planning when I ran into a friend who told me Augie was their photographer and shared his info. We had looked through a number of photographers, but Augie's work stood out to us through all of it--his photos truly captured the feeling of each moment, and we loved everything in his portfolio. When we reached out, he responded so quickly and answered all our questions right away. For our engagement shoot, it was my husband's first time doing a formal photoshoot. Augie came very prepared, offered great tips, and made us feel completely at ease. He was so easy to talk to and work with, and we genuinely had such a fun time with him! He was also flexible with timing and weather to make sure we could get the best lighting. We were blown away by his ability to notice something special in just a few seconds and turn it into a beautifully captured moment. For our wedding day, Augie was even more impressive. I had shared our (very full) itinerary with him ahead of time, and I was surprised to notice that he knew it by heart. When we started running behind, he gently but efficiently helped move things along. Even though it was his first time at our venue, he had an incredible eye for finding perfect spots, turning a simple fence into a magical backdrop. He worked seamlessly around the golfers at our venue, guiding us at the right times and capturing the sweetest in-between moments. He also accommodated all our specific requests, including photos with our sports car and dress details. We absolutely love our wedding photos and all the special moments he preserved. We were also so impressed with how fast he sent us our sneak peek photos--it was such a fun surprise to get highlights so quickly. Overall, I can't stress enough how grateful we are for Augie and everything he captured during our engagement shoot and wedding day. We're so happy with all the memories he helped capture that we will cherish forever, and I truly can't recommend him enough.

Augie is a kind, calming, and professional presence for kids and adults alike, putting everyone at ease. It may seem like photography sessions that feel candid would result in mediocre results, but somehow he always gets amazing shots. My wife and I got married this past December, and we couldn't be happier with our wedding…read morephotographer, Jennifer Michelson / A Girl and a Camera. I actually found Jennifer after searching online for photographers in San Francisco and her work immediately stood out. Her style felt fresh and unconventional -- more documentary and journalistic than traditional -- and I especially loved her use of black and white photography, which was a big reason we chose her. The day started at our hotel, where she jumped between our separate rooms to capture my wife and me getting ready. Before she had even gotten to our rooms, she had already scouted the perfect location for our first look. The moment was absolutely incredible, and she handled everything; we didn't have to do a thing but follow her lead. That professional confidence continued at City Hall. She has a masterful familiarity with the building. She took full control of the shoot, guiding us as she told us exactly where to stand, how to pose, and where to move next so we could just relax and enjoy the moment. As a photographer myself, I really appreciated her confidence and professionalism. All we had to do was follow instructions and be present. She knows San Francisco City Hall inside and out -- the lighting, the angles, the timing, and the key locations that truly matter -- every shot felt deliberate and it showed. The technical skill here is top-notch-- the compositions were beautiful, the balance of each frame was spot-on, and her gorgeous color grading. We received around 300 images, and the quality is so consistent that I plan to print every last one of them in large format to ensure we have a permanent physical archive. When we received the final package, we were so touched -- she sent our photos on a beautiful USB drive along with printed images, some sweets, and other thoughtful details. It was the perfect finishing touch to a genuinely wonderful experience. If you're getting married at City Hall -- or anywhere in San Francisco -- Jennifer Michelson / A Girl and a Camera is exceptional. Thank you Jennifer! Laura and Junior.
