We recently purchased our forever home and the stairs to the basement were horribly steep and even…read moredangerous. We walked away from this house once because of that, but when the house came back on the market, we knew this was the home for us! We purchased it "eyes wide open" knowing we had to do something with the stairs. We spoke to a lot of knowledgeable people who all said the same thing. This would be a challenging job because the stairs would have to be demolished and rebuilt, but we still only had the space that was there to get the correct rise and tread sizes, which would impact the head space at the bottom. In other words, a tall person would have to duck...and this would never do! I had three carpenters look at my stairs. The first carpenter shook his head and said he had no clue where to start. The second carpenter was Brian from B&C, who I found through an online search and was blown away by their great reviews and the pictures of their amazing work! Brian immediately started calculating available space, and thinking outside the box. His knowledge and transparency inspired me to have great confidence in him and his price was super reasonable! The third carpenter came across as this being not a great challenge, which I knew better, and proceeded to give me a price that was nearly double of Brian's. So, our choice was clear. Brian had pre construction meetings with us to keep us apprised of his plans, as well as meetings during the construction. After calculating and brainstorming with his crew, he said he could reframe the ceiling at the bottom to give more head space. He also discussed cutting into and reframing the top landing to get additional space. Brian kept us informed each step of the way and his craftsmanship was impressive. We started the work on November 1, with our only deadline being completed before Thanksgiving. Brian completed our work in about 10 days! While I did post a couple of finished photos, B&C's websites will have good before and after pictures. I wholeheartedly recommend B&C for any carpentry job. You will get honesty, integrity, transparency, great communication, fair pricing and old fashioned craftsmanship!

Now it's been 8 weeks, several phone calls, several emails to them, 1 return phone call and 1 return email promising they'd give me the quote and those dates have passed. I still do not have a quote! I called 2 other companies for a quote, one got back to me in 2 days and the other in less than 24 hours. I needed a third for insurance purposes so I've kept contacting them but there is no way I would ever use their services after this slow of a response. Called around 2:00 p.m. to see if they do that kind of work, they offered to come by at 3:00 pm to look at it. Met the contractor and discussed the problem, they looked at the vent stack and the shingles and told me "we could do the work, but it's probably a plumbing issue, I don't want to charge you for something that's not going to fix the problem." We talked another 20 minutes about possible ways to diagnose. Super friendly, super professional.

They were eager to tear things apart and not put them back together as they said they would.. they tore down the cover over the basement and decided that they could not put that cover back again and did not refund me the amount that they charged me to put it up. I prepaid, living out of town. I came back to check it out assuming( " ") they had done the work. With all the five stars they get, I anchored on that. Being born a raised in Jackson I was not expecting that. They also tore apart the front of the house and was supposed to get an engineer to rebuild it and they waited so long that I hired a contractor to put it back.. very disappointed on a Mullins family business. Not very communicative. I would never recommend them.

We had picked…read moreout carpet for our master bedroom based on the sample shown which we liked and because it was stated that it was in stock. The carpet was installed properly and the installer was very good. Unfortunately the carpet did not match the sample we had gotten from the store. It was not as plush as the sample and we felt that the issue needed to be addressed at the store. For what we paid, we did not feel it it was a good value. We returned to the store to express our concerns and showed the salesperson the difference between the sample and the carpet that was installed. She agreed and said she would let us know what they might do to compensate us for the lesser quality. We have not heard anything from the salesperson or Christoff and Sons. Apparently they are not at all concerned with customer satisfaction. We explained that we will be remodeling the the kitchen and replacing additional carpet but we certainly will not be using Christoff and Sons as they don't seem to care.

Due to their long history with suppliers, he was sure there would be no issue with the manufacturer and in short order replacement carpet was installed. JJ's has done 3 jobs for me. The first one was 4 years ago. They crack filled and seal coated my…read moreold driveway. It looked way better! I asked JJ how much it would cost to tear out my old driveway and lay new. He said it would be a lot less if we add 2 inches of fresh asphalt over the old. He explained how some of the cracks would transfer though the new layer. But, not crumble apart like what I was currently dealing with. Crack fill and sealcoat every 1 to 2 years. I had him do it the next year. He was right. The 2" layer of asphalt makes my driveway look brand new! Some of the main cracks from the bottom layer came though into the new layer. So, I had them crack fill and sealcoat it the year after it was laid. No weeds or grass showing up in the cracks. 2 years ago I had them add all new asphalt from my driveway to my shop. I am extremely pleased with JJ's.
