10/10 Service! Courteous! Experienced! You will not find a more experienced or kinder person than Jim, owner of American Locksmith. He must have close to half a million keys...it's crazy! Was helping my dad get duplicated keys made on a busy Saturday morning - Jim was juggling answering the phone & folks who got there ahead of us in his shop. Took care of us right quick when he found out we didn't need replacement car keys, just a few keys to but cut from one we had. Super quick, they worked (!), he's the best!! If we EVER need to get new locks, new keys, etc, Jim's our guy. He should be yours too!! When you find good, local businesses & people like this nowadays, you want others to know them...this is one of them. read more

Great guys and good prices. Very helpful. Explained everything and they truly are the car key kings.

I have used this business several times. I "think" maybe even the current owners dad may have been running the business as I remember an older gentleman years ago. Anyway - they BOTH are so helpful and willing to help you save a buck if they can. Recently my lock/unlock/panic/truck fob would work occasionally so I bought 2 new batteries. Put them in and now the fob didn't work at all. I went to have him make me a new fob (as I have done for other vehicles at a VERY REASONABLE PRICE). He said hmmm, let me just try different batteries first, sure enough the batteries I bought at Piggly Wiggly (Union Grove) were no good. He saved me $119 on a new fob by trying that even though I told him I just put new batteries in! Lost himself a sale for the fob but this is the reason I will continue to do business with him. He is honest. Highly recommend! read more

I was able to get a rare key cut that they recommended to be used gentle in the lock because the lock was old and could. E worn. The key was cut perfect and worked like a new lock read more

Today I stopped in there, thinking I needed a battery for my key fob, or a new key fob. I was in the process of diagnosing a sometimes starting Dodge van. I forgot to catch his name, but what the guy did next, was absolutely awesome! Having dealing with these issues a bunch, he called a Dodge dealership for me, gave them my VIN number, and confirmed his thought of there being a recall. There was one, and thanks to him, I got an immediate appointment there, and they are fixing a $4000 computer issue, completely free. He went above and beyond, and was just as excited as I was, to have solved my problem. I have had great service there in the past ,as well. The place is fantastic, and I highly recommend it. read more

Amazing customer service. I lost my keys for my van and helped me out quick! Great prices!

I recently went into American Locksmiths today and found Jim busy at work. Having three people in the shop and acknowledging you when you come in, hardly happens anymore in other small shops. He was able to get me a new fab for my 21 Honda Accord, change the battery in my older fab with no problem. The best part was that the new fab he got me, came with a remote start, That I didn't even know it had!!! He gave me this fab at same price of a regular fab!! Just in time for the Winter! Great, Great Service Jim! read more

I went to the Car Store in Sturtevant for the first time Feb 25 2023. my husband and I were floored by the knowledge and experience Jim has as a locksmith. He was friendly and kind and helped us out immensely with making our keys and even retrieved our door lock code that we never got from the dealer. Saved us money and that was sooo much appreciated! We will be customers for life! He went above and beyond in his service to accommodate! Thank you! Mike and Laura G. read more

Was referred here by another local business. Getting a spare key for my car was way cheaper here than going to the dealer. He has tons of different ones available. Mine wasnt in stock but he was able to order it for me and restock quickly. Saturdays hours are convenient. He also does house calls, which I know from a conversation with him, but I didn't need myself. read more

have had to use jim many times, always on time and great prices . would recommend to everyone .

Always great service and fair pricing. Automotive or home American Locksmiths is the way to go

I hate to give them even 1 star. My son was robbed at knife point. The thieves did not get his car but did get his only set of keys. The locksmith that met us at the police impound lot made a faulty key that did not work in the ignition or doors. He tried to tell us that the tumblers were out of alignment on the ignition and the door lock was corroded. His solution was to replace the ignition for an additional $250 on top of the $185 for the key. It was only after I started making phone calls that he found a way to get the key to work. It didn't help the situation that when he first met us that he was more interested in petting my service dog (and putting my life at risk as a result) than introducing himself. After he got paid, he wouldn't even acknowledge me or thank me for my business (I guess he was upset still that he could not pet my service dog). Use American Locksmiths in Sturtevant only if you want to get ripped off or treated rudely. read more

I have to give them one star cause zero is not an option. A man came and replaced my ignition in my jeep after one month the accessory position stopped working now the key turns forward with no resistance and has no effect the car does not try to crank or start at all and the chime when you have the the key in doesn't stop when you remove the key. When I called to have him fix the faulty ignition he installed he said it was everything from needing a jump to the starter was broken and refused to come even look at it. He was rude on the phone and worse in person when he sat and blasted music while my kids were try thing to sleep and would not lower the volume when I asked him to also he told me the ignition had a guarentee on it which he won't honor he simply refuses to admit his work or the product he installed were faulty. Avoid at all cost use the service at your own peril. read more

American Locksmiths sent a man to my home to make a car key for me. Please don't listen to my review alone. Read the other reviews as well. The man that came out was the rudest that I have ever encountered. When I first laid eyes on him, I knew I was in trouble. He said he could not make a key without causing damage to the car. I told him that I can't have a key made if it would cause damage to the car. I told him that my son would have to get a key made when he got back, because it was his car. I thought the man from American was leaving as I was going into the house. But a few minutes later I checked the garage and there he was trying to take the steering apart. He was screaming. Said he didn't ruin anything that the steering column was already broken. He was a very mean person. This man should never be in customer service. He is a frightening person. This company should have a negative star rating. Thank you for reading. read more
