I have to say, I loved the ambiance of Gavaghans. I am not entirely an Irish pub kind of girl, but…read morewhen you are in Rome you do what the Romans do, right? And in Sebring, that means you walk into the cool Irish pub on the circle and soak it all in. The interior alone makes it worth the visit. Dark wood, warm lighting, that cozy tucked-away pub feel that makes you forget you are in the middle of Florida. It feels transported. It is one of those places in Sebring that you just have to see because it is so unexpectedly cool inside. Service was great. I was there for a quick in and out, so I sat at the bar and kept it simple with a chicken Caesar salad. Nothing fancy. For the price, it was very fair, and the flavor held up. No complaints. It did exactly what it needed to do, which was give me a solid meal in a comfortable setting without overcomplicating things. Now let's talk about Sebring itself. Sebring is one of those towns in the middle of nowhere Florida where you find yourself thinking, "I wonder what it would be like to live here?" while also scratching your head a little. It reminds me of The Villages before The Villages became The Villages. There is a concept there. It is adorable. It is charming. And most of the time, it is very, very quiet. Personally, I would go stir crazy living there full time. But I can absolutely see the appeal. And to be fair, Sebring is not always sleepy. It comes alive during major events like the legendary 12 Hours of Sebring at Sebring International Raceway, which draws racing fans from all over the world. There is also the Sebring Soda Festival, the Highlands County Fair, and various car shows and seasonal events that suddenly flood the town with energy. During those times, I imagine the entire vibe shifts. If I were to come back, it would be for one of those big events or for some serious antique shopping, because that is where this area quietly shines. Gavaghans fits perfectly into that Sebring personality. Cozy. A little unexpected. Solid. Worth stepping into. Even if you are not an Irish pub person, it is one of those spots that makes you think, okay... I get it.

We sat ourselves at a table nearest a window. The place is dimly lit. We placed our order at the bar. We did not wait long for our meal. We each had the Cesar Salad with Bacon bits and a glass of red wine. The salad was a generous portion, fresh and crisp with just the right amount of housemade dressing. We each ate half of the salad and took the remaining home. The place was quiet with only one other table seated. We were able to converse with each other in a relaxed and unhurried atmosphere. It was a most pleasant evening. I recommend Gavaghans and plan to return on a weekend when the place might have a more livelier vibe.

I'm a non-smoker but I tolerated it because I enjoyed the people and the other aspects of the atmosphere. After 15 years, as of January 1st, the Tap Room is now NON-SMOKING! My lungs are very happy! Management is taking steps to remove as much of the odor as they can. Other than this big news, this is your typical dive bar- * Cheap drinks * TouchTunes Jukebox * Pool tables and dart boards * Occasional live entertainment * No food other than packaged snacks Pro Tip- They have a back entrance with easy parking. It's not fancy but it's used more than the front door! Note that the parking lot is a disaster and needs to be repaved. Drive in slowly! Atmosphere- Like many dive bars, the crowd varies from day to night. The crowd is older and more sedate during the day and younger and a bit rowdier at night. The TouchTunes jukebox is extremely popular here with many folks using the app on their phones. Genres played are mostly Classic Rock and Country with a little Pop occasionally thrown in. The bar is very large and is a bit unusual as there are both low and high chairs in different sections. Note that many of the low chairs desperately need to be replaced so choose carefully where you sit your thirsty ass down! Adult Libations- The big joke is the Tap Room has no taps! That's right, no drafts here but plenty of mostly domestic bottles and a full liquor bar. Bartenders- This place has 5 bartenders plus an excellent manager that often tends bar. The bartender's range in age from 30s to 70s. They are generally decent with some more conversational than others. Now that's NON-SMOKING, I'd love to give it 5 stars but the parking lot and the collection of crappy chairs hold me at 4!

It's a little off the beaten path for me and I'm a lazy ass so it took me until this weekend to get there! Arriving- It's in the clubhouse of the North Golf Course in the Highland's Ridge Community. Follow the signs for that clubhouse or let your GPS do the work. If you are familiar with the area, it was formally The Tavern. Ambience- So this is what a lot of folks would call a Country Club restaurant. As I had patronized the old tenants, I was curious how they were going to transform it into an Irish Pub. The answer is they didn't! It looks nothing like and Irish Pub. It's a large space with lots of natural light and traditional furniture. It has lots of outside seating that's covered with ceiling fans and many seats have a nice view! There is a very small bar that seats about six. In short, it looks like a Country Club restaurant. So much for pub ambience! Customer Service- Awesome, maybe seven stars! I had substantial interactions with the manager, bartender, and a server. All were exceptional. Adult Libations- Definitely not a pub style bar. It's a full bar with just a few taps but nothing special. Food- Like the ambience, it's an American menu with a couple of Irish dishes. There's Bangers & Mash and Shepard's Pie. Other than that, they throw in a couple of Irish terms to deceive you but it's really an American menu. There're enough choices to satisfy most folks. See their website. I ordered Irish Brisket Flatbread- Brisket, bacon, caramelized onions, diced tomatoes, BBQ sauce, mozzarella cheese @ $13. It was out in good time and plated very nicely. Plenty of food for the price so good value. The flatbread was nicely crisp. I love caramelized onions and that's the base here. Everything was very fresh. Plenty of brisket. Unfortunately, the onions overpowered the other ingredients, so the flavors were not balanced. It was tasty but needed a little work to be a winner. Conclusion- If you're looking for an Irish Pub, you're in the wrong place. If you're looking for an American menu that has some potential with a great staff and beautiful outside seating, give it a try. As they are new and the staff is awesome combined with the outside seating, I'm going to be a little charitable and say four stars!

We were met with tables, arranged to seat 12 of us, covered in white tablecloths, with small candle lamps on the table. My mother remarked on the beautiful place settings. Our server, Lauren, immediately took our beverage orders, and promptly returned with our requests. Once everyone arrived, we received plates of sliced bread with seasoned dipping oil. Our brunch orders were filled quickly, and our family from large cities were very impressed with the presentation and variety of the menu offerings. We could not have asked for a nicer afternoon. They stopped serving brunch at 2 PM, but did not rush us out of the restaurant, and helped present Mom's birthday cake. We hope to celebrate her 100th birthday there next year!

We visited for my birthday a couple weeks ago and had a very pleasant experience. First, service from Liz was outstanding. Very attentive without being bothersome, you can tell she really enjoys her job and is very good at it! We started with the fried calamari app and it was fantastic, probably the best we've ever had. Tender, crispy, perfectly fried to a golden brown and lightly mixed with Thai sweet chili sauce. 10/10. My wife got their version of Shrimp Scampi, which was good, but very "wet", like the pasta wasn't fully drained or possibly pasta water was added to the pan and not reduced enough. It was also lacking in garlic flavor. Still good, but could've been better. I treated myself to the Frutti Di Mare, which was very good but suffered from the same problem as the Scampi, too wet. Unfortunately, in both dishes, that extra water diluted what could have been a very tasty sauce. It's too bad, but we see this watered down sauce dilution problem a lot in Italian restaurants. Overall, still a great experience and we'll be back at some point to give them another shot. We were told that they'll be rolling out some menu changes when they reopen after vacation.
