Okay, so this is an update to confirm that the band is no longer there. The Legion is still a pretty cool place but it's just a DJ and karaoke on Sunday currently. So, I mean it's still a cool atmosphere but it's not the same without the band. I just wanted to clarify that...imo. read more

My family I went to this location a few times before and always had a good time this time we went to the first Friday of the summer, which was after the holiday. They charge $10 a person to get in as a cover, and we found out that the air conditioning in the building was broken and they should've customers that before hand and also should not have a fee to get in to come into a place with no air only had two or three fans going on inside the whole building building for the whole night. Very unprofessional, the air broke and two still charging people to come in at a hot establishment, not being made aware of the condition that the establishment is in. We stayed for about two hours at the max to order our food and listen to some good music and then we left to go somewhere else because it was extremely too hot in. The future, the business owner and staff workers should make it prevalent that all guests are aware when there's an issue going on in the building and or to close the establishment until the issue is resolved no restaurant or business without air conditioning in the summertime when the weather is over 110° daily. read more

Went here for a Valentine day thing and it was ok but i think we went to early but me and my guy really don't are for being around large crowds so it was a lot for us but i was looking for a place that was gonna play oldies but goodies and they was playing more of today's music so we ate and the food was decent. read more

3Sep23: We visited The American Legion Post 65 to see local live musicians Vaughn Willis and Ear Candy. Arrived a little after 7 pm, pleasantly greeted by security and the door crew, quickly stopped by the kitchen to order Soul food: fried snapper with two slices of bread, hot sauce, a side of fries, seasoned greens and Mac & cheese. The fish was dry-crispy on the outside, tendered on the inside, fries were lightly seasoned and crisp; the greens were delicious as was the Mac & cheese, crisp on top and tenderly cheesy inside! The patrons were mature, friendly and respectful! The inside music had a good selection of dance music. The outside patio area was well lite, two large mister fans, and ample seating when you arrive before band sets up. The musicians are incredibly talented with outstanding vocals, rhythm, pizazz, class and swagger! The only down side to the entire experience was the strong presence of smoke! I am not a smoker and it was extremely unfortunate to have my experience overwhelmed with the amount of smoke that I had to immediately clean my clothes and self upon getting home. I felt like I was at an establishment pre-non-smoking laws. There should be a designated area in the furthest corner of the parking that has secretion fans to eliminate the smoke scent. It's like a hole in the wall type place, as most American Legions are. This one had a chef in the kitchen, but we got there too late and were being charged the price of a full plate, for just meat. LOL You can't make this stuff up, but I was starving and just went with it, since I planned on drinking. There's ample parking, they have their own lot. Atmosphere: Seems like a place of regulars. Dark, bar surrounded with plexi glass. I wasn't sure if it was for bullets or because of Covid. LOLBVVS They have a dance floor area, room full of tables and a bar with stools. Service: The bartender was great. She was friendly, knew how to make a good drink and was a little sociable. Came here for the soul food Sunday special. It was the best soul food I've had in Phoenix. It is open to the general public and I got there right after opening (12 pm). Got a 3 piece catfish combo thats comes with 1 side & cornbread, but I added an additional side. Everything was good. The fish was fried to perfection. The Travis L. Williams Post is a great venue for community and neighborhood events. Some people know this place as a place where people can go and party and drink. Don't get me wrong, they certainly do have their party nights here! But this party spot also supports the community by allowing community organizations to host events in the location with little to absolutely no hassle. They have hosted community events such as election watch parties, private parties, sorority/fraternity fundraisers and wine tasting fundraisers. For that, I give this place 5 Stars. My favorite time to go here was on Wednesday nights for the line dancing practice. I haven't been in a couple of months, but I would substitute a workout in the gym for a trip to the Legion to learn line dances and kick up my heels. Awesome environment because I can go in my jeans or work clothes and put on a pair of heels. No worries about if I'm dressed to the nines and I can dance for 2 straight hours! Whoooweeee! that's the best time for me. The ladies on the dance floor kicking up their heels and helping each other get the steps right while the men sit around the bar sipping their cocktails and chatting it up. I know on other nights there are dance classes there as well. I've also been here a time or two on the nights when the Legion actually operates as a club. This is why I kick down the review a notch from a 5 star. The Legion as a club serves it's purpose. It is an around the way, club and you get an "around the way experience" at the Legion. If you are from around the way, you'll enjoy it. That said, you know the drinks are strong enough to leap tall buildings in a single bound by gholly! The food is that of a neighborhood club with a kitchen... I love it that, there's a kitchen in the club and a window where you order the food from. They have fried wings and fish. I'm not even sure if they serve anything else. That's because I've never ordered anything else! haha... I love good wings and the Legion's wings are that - Good. NOTE: when I've gone on non-club nights, the kitchen and bar are usually open. The Legion is one multi-faceted facility. If you are on that side of town or you cater to the folks in that area, or if you're just looking for a venue that is low-hassle, this could be a facility for you. I stopped in one Saturday afternoon, ate chicken wings ( delicious), listened to old school music, pretty chilled place.

The bar customer service is very unprofessional, specifically the lady who goes by Ms. Bea. She is rude, unprofessional, and annoying. Do not order any type of Vodka. They are placing 'other' substances in the bottles and calling it 'Top Shelf'. Our drinks were horrible. Instead of making the drinks better, Ms Bea informed the Bartender NOT to service us additional drinks because we asked for them to be re-made. I spoke to Bea and she refused to make the poorly constructed drinks correct. This is sad service with misleading Vodka drinks. POOR SERVICE. read more

Relax and Unwind in the company of friends!! A great atompshere to relax and enjoy friends. A place where everybody knows your name. The bartenders serve a great drink and the food on the nights Chef Michele is there is outstanding. You can learn all the latest line dances on Wednesday nights. Friday nights is a time to unwind and you can do that in the back with hip hop or on the inside with R& B.... I love this place for the drinks, food, and friends. No matter where I start my evening I always try and end up here ... love Post 65. Oh and did I mention all the community events. The funds raised in the evenings are used to sponsor charity events and scholarship opportunities. The Spot to be! A cool neiborhood bar where you can also get your dance on. Has a great kitchen where you can order up GOOD catfish/talipa or chicken wings.
