They appeared to lack understanding of modern building practices and code regulations. When we offered to provide information on the energy efficient upgrades we made to the home, they were not interested, then listed these value-added items as problems. The remedy request stated recommendations as requirements, stated only certified plumbers, electricians, or carpenters could make repairs, which is untrue, and made several suggestions that were both unnecessary and would make the home dramatically less practical to live in. Nearly every item in the remedy report was stated in a misleading way. Their focus on radon mitigation system upgrades appears to be an attempt to generate additional business for their sister company, which installs radon mitigation equipment. The radon levels in our home have repeatedly tested well below the EPA's recommended level for mitigation and there is a fully functioning mitigation system in place, yet changes were recommended. This company's report appears to lack useful information on the important attributes of the home that other inspectors will often provide. The "vigilance" Vigilant Home Inspectors provide appears to be misguided, worrying potential buyers by focusing on items that will likely never be problematic.

We contacted them twice afterward to request they come back out, and were told, in essence, that we just needed to deal with it. To make matters worse, we were incorrectly charged twice and had to go through the hassle of addressing the billing error. For the price we paid, we expected professionalism, quality service, and accountability. Instead, we received none of the above. They were doing the inspection for someone purchasing our…read morehouse.It was in December ,cold and I was out of town so we shut the water off. 2 employees come in to do the inspection,they turn on the water 2 hours later they noticed the toilet had popped off a tube in the tank and was running down the back of the toilet.The floor was flooded the basement ceiling had a large water spot.It was a 2 second fix!!!to put the hose back on the tube. Then they put in the report the toilet leaks and pictures of the water and ceiling. I don't understand why they wouldn't have taken a quick walk around the house when the water was turned back on like most people would have done and they did not note in the report it happened when they were there! After sending my initial inquiry by e-mail, I received a phone call back from Mike within the hour. He was friendly and professional, and was able to schedule our inspection for a date that was only 4 days away from the date that I contacted him. Setting up the inspection was incredibly simple, and I really liked that all the pricing was clearly laid out on the website, so there were no surprises when he sent me the invoice. The inspection itself was extremely thorough, and the report was well-organized with all issues categorized by level of severity and accompanied by digital photos that clearly demonstrate exactly what was going on.
