We have had the good fortune of receiving EXCELLENT Customer Service from two of the American Homepatient staff members. The first employee was Darrell Smotek (who I wrote a Google Review about over a year ago due to his TERRIFIC ASSISTANCE) and in the past few weeks, Hannah Wiley again assisted us in an UNBELIEVABLY positive way. We needed a reading from our CPAP machine and no one was able to retrieve it. This was CRITICAL for us. Hannah spent an unbelievable amount of time, NOT giving up, until she had the report for us. She tried the card from the machine in several of their machines and finally determined a software upgrade was required! The entire time she was courteous and reassuring. Because of her relentless work, we left the office with the report we needed. Most employees would've just said "sorry, your card cannot be read" but she didn't. She cared about her customer and researched how to meet our needs. We feel VERY fortunate knowing she is there to assist us in our healthcare needs!! read more

As a delivery driver/service tech job was great for one who enjoys taking care of patients. Patient's were mostly fabulous. Vehicles were in horrible shape and not taken care of(dangerous to drive). Manager was borderline psychotic and impossibly irrational to deal with. In short the job was great and rewarding, the pay is ok, horrible management. read more

Daryl was great with explaining the CPAP and how it works but that's all he does. After him it's all down hill. Good luck getting the supplies you need. It'll take them at least 2 tries and the process takes a week or more. Make sure you call WELL in advance. I've learned to call about a month before I actually need anything because they are going to send the wrong thing no matter how many times they repeat what you actually need. It takes about 7-10 days to get the wrong items, then you have to call them back and go through the whole ordeal again. You might get the right items the second time if you're lucky. Usually it takes 3. You can do an auto ship but you have to purchase ALL of the supplies (which is unnecessary and could be costly) but Good luck! read more

Scam, Scott & White Sleep institute told me my part of the CPAP process was $900 and change. Scott & White sent me to American Homepatient for the equipment, American Homepatient told me that my insurance company Cigna would take care of their bill, we never discussed a 30 day return nor the cost of any of this. I get billed from a CareCentrix ( a billing center for American Homepatient )for $806 for equipment and rental for 3 months of use ??? whoa, what happened to the $900 ? all of this same brand equipment can be "bought" online for a fraction of the price of just their rental. Scott and White never mentioned this. I hope people read this before they venture into this with them. read more

Okay... we are all supposed to be taking Covid precautions... I am wholly disturbed by what I just witnessed. A delivery van that said, American Homepatient delivering respiratory supplies CPAP oxygen pulled up to my neighbor's home. I watched the guy then carry a box with ungloved hands and an unmasked face to their front door. He proceeds to knock/ ring with ungloved hands and the door opens... And he walks in. I called the manager of this business to tell her what I just witnessed and what I got was a prepackaged answer. I was told they are in the medical field and come into contact with all sorts of people , that they are following universal precautions and the guidelines set out by the CDC and her own company. Ugh, I call BS. Complete BS. We are supposed to be treating everyone that is not in our own homes as if they have Covid 19. She played like I was dumb and started she was a respiratory therapist. Okay, Ms. Respiratory Therapist, answer this question: would you walk into a hospital infected with tuberculosis or Covid without protection? I don't want to hear that these are delicate times and we have never been through this before. You are risking our public by being okay with drivers walking into customers's homes without protection. It is completely disrespectful to assume that risk for other people, especially since you know your patients are a very vulnerable population, and if you have to enter a home to inform anyone on equipment use you should at LEAST be wearing a mask and have a bottle of hand sanitizer with you. American Homepatient is not testing their employees for Covid 19 nor do they know where their employees have been or whom they contact after work hours are over! You ALL should know better. This coming from a vent nurse, y'all. On a scale of A to F, y'all get an F minus sans a star for both the naked delivery and for the manager's absurd response. Pfffft. You need to fix that and not be a vectoral issue for our community. And don't expect people to be dumb and blindly believe BS. If you get a patient ill you may be facing lawsuits. Fix it. read more

Terrible customer service and even worse hours of operation. In today's world 9-5 is no longer an acceptable range to be open. On March 15h I left work at 3:50 to get to the Killeen location by 4:10 and when we got there they were CLOSED no notice or anything. When we called the number on the door it went to a phone bank in God knows where, they tried calling the office herself and no response. The lady on the phone says well you can go to Temple, well at this point after being on hold and holding while she called the super secret store phone number it was a bit after 4:30 so we would probably not make it to Temple, by 5 before they closed. We called the doctor to request that the orders be faxed to the Temple facility. The doctor's office confirmed that the request was faxed to the Temple facility. After multiple phone calls we still don't have what we need. But they got us over a barrel, because of networks and contracts people are limited in choices for DME. NOT ACCEPTABLE!!! read more

DO NOT USE. Terrible company, no oxygen tanks in stock and billing Medicare for equipment that American Homepatient has not seen or maintained in 3 yrs. I've called 11 times in 30 days for new tanks for my mother and still no tanks or return call. Company is billing Medicare $350 a month for equipment that is empty and useless. My PCP wrote me a script for a rollator on 03/08/2022. I contacted my health insurance to ask for a network contactor. AHP was one for my area. Next day, I took script with insurance card to AHP in Killeen, TX. Was told it needed to be sent to the Temple office. I don't know when the Killeen office sent it to Temple. Several weeks go by I don't hear anything. I call Temple. They take my info and I don't hear anything for another week. Finally, I call back again and I'm told who is handling my case and she will call me back before end of day. Next day, Victoria calls me and puts it on the doctor's office saying she needs "chart notes ". I contact my doctor telling what they need. Next day, I receive msg. chart notes have been faxed. I wait a few days then call Victoria back. By now I've learned if you push the button like you are a doctor's office, they pick-up in the office, not the answering service. She states she just got the chart notes and I can pick up rollator today or have it delivered Thursday. We'll, I went to Temple to pick it up today. The lady at the front desk was so rude and did nothing to explain the rollator to me. I had to ask questions. It cannot be adjusted any higher and the left handle is loose and wobbly. I brought this to her attention and she said it can't be tightened anymore. I asked for user guide and she said there's not one. But, on rollator it says to refer to user guide. You become totally invaluable after they have made the sell. They totally depend on billing insurance companies. ( In particularly Over Billing your insurance). The satellite offices are worthless. The receptionist hands you a phone # to call the corporate office and all I can say is "Good Luck". Avoid them at all possible. You will have a less stressful life! read more

The very worst medical supplier I have ever used. Every single time I need something done or ordered they either screw it up badly or don't do anything. Then when you ask them how is my letter of medical necessity coming along, did you contact my doctor? They do not know what I am talking about. After repeated phone calls, office visits and "We are taking care of it, don't worry, rest assured." Then a week later when it check and see if they actually did follow through with important submissions, they haven't a clue and avt as if I was never there. If you can avoid this outfit at all costs. Every once in awhile you will happen to get an employee who provides acceptable customer service. Sadly, most of the time the employees are unable or unwilling to get the supplies you need. You kind of have to bug them over and over to get anything done. There is NO internal communication system within this company. When i moved from one city to another it caused major problems for them. I kept asking them to pick up the concentrator at the old address, which had not been serviced in 3 years. They would not pick it up until I threatened to make them pay fire department fines because it was blocking an exit. They wanted ME to go back to the old town, 170 miles one-way, pick it up, move it down 2 flights of stairs then drive 25 miles one-way, offload it from my car and bring it to them. It would not even fit in the car. Ive been trying since April to get a shoulder carrier for the portable B tanks. It's late July. Without those i can only leave my house for around 45 minutes at a time. It is very difficult being a patient of American Home Patient. Maybe that's the reason for the name--you cannot ever leave home. read more

A large "Appointment Only" sign was on the front door. What a way to greet customers. I understand we are taking precautions against Covid19 and mask and social distancing should be observed but this is the first retail business that I've seen that requires appointments. My physician faxed them a prescription for a walker. My Medicare Advantage plan had listed them as a preferred provider. My plan pays 80% with a 20% copay. We were masked and able to get an employee to answer the door. She told me that they had the prescription,but needed more information from the physician. I wait 1 week without hearing from them. I called them and was told that they were still waiting. I asked her if I should call the doctor and she no that she would. She then asked me the name of the doctor.The name of the doctor is on the prescription that she had received a week earlier. I then told her that I would get my walker from another provider. read more

The Killeen Office is absolutely the worst representative of this business I have ever come across. The representatives are disinterested and condescending, then upon the presentation of any dissatisfaction on behalf of the customer, they immediately state that the customer misunderstood. I had another person witness my initial transaction where I was told I could return the product I had paid for and receive a refund within 30 days. Upon my return, I was told I "misunderstood" and that I was only eligible to receive a replacement of my initial product. Horrendously abysmal. I would sooner drive to Temple or Austin than deal with these people again! read more

Dealing with American Homepatient and Killeen office in particular turned out to be a real bad experience. In Dec 2017 I was looking for an alternate solution for my home oxygen provider. I called the Temple office were Melissa answered my questions and assured me that they do provide portable and stationary concentrators. Melissa advised me to use the Killeen office, so I tried to call the Killeen office but could never get thru to them and kept getting the home office. Finally I took a ride to the Killeen office and spoke with Ren Mante, I provided her with everything she needed to get me the equipment with Insurance paying the bill. Two - three weeks later I called to question what was the hold up, Ren informed me that they requested a new Medicare form from my doctor, I was taken aback since I had already provided them with everything they needed. I was upset they went behind my back, But I still needed the service, so finally on Tue Jan 16 Ren called to inform me that everything was processed and would be delivered on Wed. I reminded her that I wanted a portable concentrator, she said that initially I would have to use tanks, I said I would not accept their service if I did not get a portable concentrator. On Fri 19 Jan, they tried to deliver a stationary concentrator and oxygen tanks. I refused to accept them, sending the driver on his way. Wow, what nerve trying to cram tanks down my throat. I tried to call Rem, but wouldn't you know it I got the Home office again, were Elizabeth tried to school me and convince me that tanks were better and cheaper than a portable. I told her I would not argue with her, but that she was wrong, over the lifetime of a 5 year medicare contract, a portable was $2500 and deliver of tanks were over $12000 on average. Anyway I got so annoyed at Elizabeth that I told her to have a good evening and hung up the phone. They tried to convince me that I had to be an active patient before they could get me a portable, like really I look so stupid to trust you to provide me a portable later.... I don't think so. I immediately called another provider located in Belton and will have new equipment delivered next week... Don't appreciate the lies, the time it took to get the paperwork thru their system, and them going behind my back to my doctor. I Would not trust these people after what they tried to do to me and would not recommend them for oxygen service. read more
