We purchased brand new windows from this company with a "lifetime warranty". Not one of the windows will latch properly and the seal broke on 2 of the windows. They sent me over to Wanda and all she could say is read your contract, claims the manufacturer went out of business so they are not responsible. Terrible company overall- bad products, horrendous service, make a mess of your yard and interior of your home, they don't arrive when they are scheduled to and the project was 4-months late compared to the written contract. It was so bad near the end they offered a discount to not finish since they didn't have any skilled labor (they fired a few who had already been in our home and doing drugs). They don't have skilled labor and quality of craftsmanship was so poor, we had to hire other contractors to fix their shoddy work. We spent $36k for all new windows, doors and a wall removal. It will be a major mistake to hire this company or do any form of business with them. If you see this review do yourself a favor and find another. I'm still waiting for them to be fixed. I wish I had been smarter and not given them the final payment. They were contracted by my mother to do a bathroom remodel. Many details were left out of the contract. It only has a few lines that they can actually put in work details, so it will be vague. The rest of the front/back contract is full of legalities to protect them...including that you have to notify them in writing within 3 days to cancel, and that any cancellation after that you will be required to pay 50% of the cost. My mom was pushed into signing the contract on a day when she was alone with the salesman (Matt). This was in about March of 2022, and $10,000 was paid up front. Here we are in May of 2023 and this $27000 bath remodel isn''t done yet, although they claimed it was. Within 24hrs of claiming it was done, Matt was threatening a lien on the house if the remaining amount wasn't paid in full. There were many verbal promises made, and when it comes to the end, they want to fall back on the contract and remind us that they don't have to do anything that wasn't in writing. Folks, get it ALL in writing. Add some lines to protect yourself, such as a firm deadline, discounts for delays, standup days, etc. I'd suggest something like $200 each day that they are beyond the contractual completion date, and $200 for each day that they say they are coming and don't work a full day. If they aren't willing to do this, then consider that they aren't confident in their ability to do the job in the time stated, and to show up as they say they will. During this process, my mother was stood up over 40 times. My mother tried to call the owner several times and couldn't get any response until the time they claimed completion and she said she was waiting to talk to the owner before making any payment. The shower did look nice, but there were issues. It was supposed to have a seat that would be 18" deep. They built it 15", even after her telling the guy several times that she wanted 18", even on the day he built it. The material used was like a faux tile look, and appears to be quality material. However, they turned it sideways on the short wall, so it didn't match the rest of the shower. When she said something, they told her that they didn't buy enough material to do it the other way and that it would be weeks to get more if they ordered it. We also have found that the wall is more than a foot shorter than it should have been. These idiots didn't even order enough material to do the job as the contract states. One door was changed from left to right. They completely butchered the new hinge recesses and didn't even attempt to fill the old ones. It looked like a blind beaver chewed it. I hope yelp lets me post pictures. She also wanted to go from carpet to a laminate. Everybody knows that laminate is thinner than carpet+pad. For this reason, baseboards need to be lowered or the subfloor raised. Otherwise, it leaves big gaps below the baseboard. They simply pulled the quarter round and put new material lower. This left the line on the baseboard where the old quarter round had been caulked. At the doors, they were going to leave gaps of over 3/4" to the floor. The proper thing to do is remove the door frame, lower it to the floor, and repair/patch a little at the top of the door trim. Instead, they decided to cut small pieces of trim and put them into the space. I'm hoping this lets me add pictures so you can see this. They now claim they can put filler on this and make it look right. I know better. It's much more time effective to do this the right way with the right materials than spend much more time patching and getting poor quality workmanship. My advice is to go elsewhere. They spend a lot of money on advertising and talk a good game up front...but once they got my mom's money, they were in no rush at all. Over 1yr later and they were still in no rush to do a bath remodel, but a day after they claim completion, they are in a such a rush to get paid the balance that they begin making threats. It's a good thing for them that my mother hasn't followed all my advice, or she'd have already told them to go kick rocks without any more money at all. read more

We signed our contract on 2-17-22 but the job didn't start until Nov 22. We kept calling only to be finally told that they missed ordering the all seasons room material. We also, told them that we wanted the room to be included in the house square footage. With that said we had to hire beneath the floor to be sealed by another contractor. After the enclosure was completed a screen fell out about a week after completion. I called and no one came out to fix that. Then the toggles that hold the screens in started breaking. Either they're broke or they're so loose they want hold screens in. I've called a total of 5 times and still no one has come to fix the issues. We will never recommend nor use this company again. If I could give zero stars I would most definitely. This is a scam!!! BEWARE!!! The sales person came and took measurements and had me pick from a variety of flooring samples. Had me sign finance request and "contract" (beware of this, on the back side it states you only have 3 days to change your mind) even though the sales person says it will most likely be approx 6-8 weeks due to Covid and product availability. After a month I hadn't even heard whether or not I had been approved, so I called. They then send me the finance paperwork for 12 YEARS at 9.9% equaling over $9,000 in finance charges. The flooring I picked was no longer available and I was bullied into picking a new one right then and there via Internet pictures and confirmed via text message. When I got the finance contract I immediately contact them to cancel. The next morning they called and said I'm under contract and cannot cancel. I'm the fine print on the back side it does state liability for 50%; 50% of what? They hadn't even ordered the product yet, after a MONTH!!! Total scam. BUYER BEWARE! read more

Where should I begin? I contracted with AHI to remove an old deck and replace it with a larger and slightly different design. The contract I signed called for typical length x width deck. Additionally it called for "special " lattice, railings, multiple angles for stairs and last but not least "provide drawIng". I knew I was in trouble when the project supervisor showed up with nothing but length and width. After a 2 hr delay they got to work. The crew did work long and hard. Then the rest of the material showed up. Wrong lattice showed up. 1/4 in instead of 1/2 ( not special). Wrong balusters. I asked for "spindles" received a decorative curved design. When I complained. I was told 1/4 in lattice was the only made and it would take a week to get "spindles". Then when it got to stairs they could not would not understand "multiple angles " This is when I gave up complaining. ALL this could of been avoided if they cared to supply a drawing, sketch, graph paper sketch . I never should of let them start without that drawing. But you have to understand that we signed the contract in Feb and they didn't start until June , so we were anxious to get started before the entire summer was gone. So now I have a new deck that is larger than the old one but with the same old unimaginative design. I will never again use AHI for anything in the future. Beware of sketchy marketing scams! This company had a booth at an event I attended. Since we were considering some bathroom updates, I took a brochure and the very nice lady working the booth offered to register me for a door prize. A few weeks later, the same lady called and said we'd won a 50% discount on our project. Before agreeing to schedule an estimate, I emphasized that we were only interested in having our floors tiled and weren't planning a major remodel. I had her confirm multiple times that it was 50% off whatever work we wanted done, no catches. The representative came to our house and spent over two hours looking at our bathrooms and making project suggestion; we were open to discussing ideas since we had been told we were getting a discount. When we sat down to talk numbers and I mentioned the contest, he rolled his eyes and said "oh are you talking about that home show thing? Whoever told you that must be confused because the discount only applies to fiberglass tubs." Umm what? My husband and I felt totally violated and disgusted. Two hours on a weeknight is precious time when you work full time and have a toddler. If a company feels the need to lie their way into my home, I certainly don't trust them with thousands of dollars. The sad part is, based on our interaction at the booth, we probably would've eventually called them when we were ready to have our floors done. Oh and the "confused" person who promised my discount also mentioned her son-in-law owns the company, so not like it was a misinformed entry level employee. Total weasels! read more

I hired American Home to enclose my deck. The siding they put one the outside of the room does not match the original siding on the house. The profile was ok but they did not use the correct grain or texture. It was supposed to be an Oak grain and it has some cheap looking texture on it. They knew what siding was on the house before they started. It was on the back of the siding they had taken down. The siding should have been Alside 01-5452-V1. I even called Alside and they did confirm that this siding was still available. They put a cheaper siding that was also from Alside. It wasn't as thick. I didn't think I had to monitor what siding they used as the contractor I had hired previously to put the roof on the deck, Dave Kramer from Construction Innovations had used the exact siding in the eaves. American Home had taken down this siding and should have used the exact matching siding. The problem with American Home is there is no Project Manager that oversees what is being done on site. You buy from a salesman that you never see again. In short, they put siding that doesn't match my house and when I asked them to replace it. The woman that came to my house said she would get with the management and get back with me. That was over a month ago and I have still not heard back from her. I thought it was a trust worthy company but it seems like with so many others once the money is in their hands and job is done they forget you. I know that it's been almost eight years since the roof was put on but there is a 25 year warranty on the shingles and flashing around the chimney. RUN!! Don't walk away from this company but run! Some of their workers are thieves and are not insured or bonded as the ad says. contracted for siding in October and finally got part of it installed in March. The wrong siding was installed and they tried to tell me that was what I paid for. The salesman said that I had picked the most expensive cedar shakes they had and they brought out and installed the cheapest they had. They said I would have to pay an additional $4500 for the more expensive shakes. After threats and a few tears from me they did change the shakes to the correct ones at no additional charge. I was told there was rot on my soffit in 4 places and charged for repairing those. They only repaired two in the front and one will have to be redone because it is leaking badly. One of their installers said he could do some soffit work through the company for me and I agreed to let him do it. I wrote him a check for $918 to cover the cost of the materials. Guess what, didn't get the work done or my money back. I was threatened by some lady at the company to go legal if I did not pay the balance of the $918 which I withheld from their last payment that Bobby Phillips coned me out of. I finally paid the negotiated price of half to these people just to be rid of them. I am waiting to see if they send me a copy of the original contract with drawings of the areas of rot on my dwelling. read more

We contracted with this company in July 2019 to build a screened in porch with the understanding that it would be completed by October 20 because we had family and friends coming in for the Tennessee ball game. We were told that we would be 6 to 8 weeks out which is plenty of time to finish the project. We never heard a word from them during that time as to where we were on the schedule all calls to their company were made by us. Not once did they call us to let us know where we stood as far as the project was concerned. The project was finally completed December 30.If I could give a rating of less than one star I would do not contract with this company unless you want to be lied to about Where are you stand on getting the project completed, the type of work that would be done and The lack of communication from their staff. They breached the contract that we had written back in July and ended up having to give an addendum to the contract in order to be able to complete it. And even after we inform them of all the shortcomings of their company their lack of communication continued only when the project was halfway finished did they want to communicate with us in order to be able to get their money. I'm still waiting for a crappy job on a window replacement to be finished. This has been going on since I ordered it in Sept of 2015. Was suppose to take 6 to 9 weeks. Start to finish. Well as of May 2016 job still not finished. It looks like crap. It's a foyer arched window. Now water is coming in and running down the interior wall when it rains. Caulking is coming out. J chanel is curling on the outside should be metal not vinyl. Window needs to be reset opinion of a window expert which by the way this company is not. I called before Christmas about water. I'M still waiting as of the 5th of January as soon as the technician finishes his current he will be here. Have heard that so many times. Think its about time to speak with My attorney. I have kept my end of the deal paying for window. Another thing they removed the sticker and threw it away. So now EPB will not reimburse me for Energy Star and I can't claim it on my 2016 taxes. If you don't mind waiting for the workers everyday just to realize they're not coming or calling to let you know, then this is the company for you. The only thing I can say good about AH is they sell great products. Our salesman was really nice but they have the worst customer service. All they do is make excuses for the workers. We hired them to enclose our screened in porch with windows. Our job was suppose to take 3-4 days at the most. It took 3 months from the time they started. They would come a couple of days a week and not every week, around mid afternoon and stay 2-3 hrs. They would tell us they'd be back the next day but never show up or call. Then because many days it would be dark at 4:30 and they couldn't see what they were doing which resulted in crappy work. They eventually corrected it. Horrible experience. I have had to repeatedly call to get work done or corrected. I have pictures of what I was told will be a serviceable shower after they get a coat of paint on the exposed wallboard. There are gaps in the frame that will allow water to leak out on other wallboard. We had a shower installed by Re-Bath that is wonderful but unfortunately they are not in the bathroom construction business. The remainder of the work has been good but the shower bath by Bath Planet is crap. read more

We contracted with them for a front porch. The work is good and the porch looks great. The process that got us there was a nightmare. From date of sign to completion took over 4 months. The work itself took 3 days. They do not communicate with you. The contractor will just show up with a less than 24hr notice and will destroy whatever is in their path; the could have care less about our personal property or that of my neighbors. STAY AWAY! I was interested in having a sun room built after seeing them at a Nashville home show. I scheduled an appointment and their salesman came on time - minus his samples (He left them at another clients house). Salesman talked a good game and I specifically asked for a Mr. Slim a/c unit for the sun room. I was quoted a price and signed the contract - My fault - the contact did not specify the Mr. Slim unit but a much cheaper unit. I also was using their financing. About a week later I received credit cards from a bank in Florida with a 26 % interest rate that I never applied for. After doing some research and some phone calls, I found out that American Home had opened up an account without my permission. Also, part of my contract was to have 3 windows replaced for free. When the contractors showed up to do final measurements , they knew nothing about the windows and said that is not my job - I do sun rooms and decks - someone else does windows. Remember , I live 3.5 HOURS away from Knoxville and they did not want to do the measurements. The contractors were supposed to provide me with a cad drawing so that I could give it to the HOA. They never did - even after being promised several times. The salesman also made promises that he did not keep. I feel that the salesman underbid the cost of the sunroom and he was trying to get out of it. He called me and left me a voice mail calling me a 'problem customer' and he does not need me. They did return my deposit, but again I think it was because the salesman under bit the job. Read the contract carefully - especially the back side where they can charge you 50% of the contract if you cancel. There is much more that went on but I would strongly recommend that you carefully reconsider doing business with american Home Improvements. I hired these dolts in 2013 to do a bathroom renovation, because the company had a guy who did a great job replacing our windows the year before. HOWEVER, they displayed shocking levels of incompetency at MULTIPLE stages during the project, and the final blow was when they decided to cut completely through the floor joist supporting this second floor bathroom because they had placed the new bathtub with the drain directly over the joist. We complained loudly but for some reason let them finish the job and actually paid them. I wish we had taken them to court. For the past 3 years they have repeatedly called me to ask if there is work they can do for me-- they have called at least 20 times, and every time I tell them to take me off their list. I finally blocked their number. NOW they are emailing me asking me to review them online. Well, here is the review. Don't go anywhere near these incompetent buffoons.
