We passed by American Hero many times but never tried it. We saw the sign out front promoting the Philly Steak & Cheese Sub yesterday. So we stopped to give it a try but didn't know what to expect. Long story short, we are soooo happy we stopped at American Hero! The sub was DELICIOUS! The fries were, too. The wings were good, but that sub.... uhm, uhm, uhm, I've never had a sub that tasted like that! The bread for the sub was so fresh! I 10/10 recommend the sub, loaded! Also, the fruit punch was very good, too! We dined in. The staff were very kind! We will definitely be going back for more subs but to also try their pizza! read more

We stopped here entirely on a whim this afternoon. The service was amazing and the food was delicious. We got an Italian and a gyro platter, plus baklava for dessert. The bread was so light and fresh that it made for a great sandwich. The gyro platter was packed with food and exactly what I was craving. They have ample seating, and while the decor is nothing special, everything was clean! Glad to know there's a good place for sandwiches nearby! read more

The food was INCREDIBLE! We got everything we ordered and it exceeded my expectations! My group (of 60 at 2 Falls Lake Pavilions) devoured everything and I had pasta left for myself, which was a nice treat. We had plenty of food and the salads were above and beyond what I expected. My bride & I were supposed to be taking my dad out for dinner tonight in North Raleigh, but he had some problems traveling and remains 5 and a half hours to the south of us. So, we had nothing out of the freezer for dinner. My bride says: "Why don't we try American Hero" and I think to myself - we've been here for 4 years and still haven't tried the place. I answered in the affirmative. After rounding up my little girl (who wasn't where she was supposed to be) we headed across town to rte 15 and there it was. I noticed the parking lot was nearly empty and stated "Bad sign" before we even got close to the place. That being said, the place wasn't busy at all, and overall, it wasn't too bad either. I dare say it's maybe the 3rd best restaurant in the Butner-Creedmoor area (okay, maybe that's not saying a lot about the food choices around here). I had the Italian sausage over spaghetti and my bride had the chicken cacciatore while my little girl had the kids hot dog meal. I also ordered their soup du jour (Broccoli & Cheese). The service is extremely friendly. The meals are served on trays with plastic forks/knives and on plastic dishes. The drink cups were styrofoam and there's a sign on the fountain drink dispenser asking customers to limit themselves to one free refill on the drinks. The dining area is small, seemed dusty and had a large screen TV with FOX news being broadcast on it. The food: I cannot speak for the chicken cacciatore, I didn't try it. I did try my daughter's hot dogs (they gave her 2) and it was standard fare. My Italian sausage over spaghetti wasn't too bad, maybe a little greasy (expected from Italian sausage) but could've used a little more seasoning or crushed red pepper. The soup, however, was more like broccoli and flour as opposed to broccoli and cheese. We'll have to re-visit for the subs, gyros and maybe a slice of NY style pie. read more

I have to say, I was amazed by this place. It looked good based on the pictures, which say a lot about a restaurant. Very salt of the earth people running this place. They're working hard and putting out great food, even if it did take almost 20 minutes longer than the estimated 30 minute pick up time. I admit, it's a bit expensive for what it is, but only when compared to standard fare. The portions are a little on the large side and the quality and taste makes up for the rest and then some. Maybe i was there on an off today i had a philly stea sub it was awful taste i had to look for the cheese the steak was these little tasteless pieces of meat with a gob of mayo it was one of the worst subs i have ever eaten maybe it's the cost of beef and they are using a cheaper brand but i say if it has to taste that bad just stop serving it read more

I'm updating my review, and bumping up the star count, because the pizza is pretty darn good. I think they put a good amount sugar in the pizza dough, and hey, it just tastes really good. This is a family owned spot, and I'm glad to have this in little ol' Creedmoor. There's a selection of sandwiches and subs, mediterranean food, and pizza. There's several tables inside, with a large screen TV, so enough room to lay out and munch. read more

My family and I have been here multiple times and this is probably one of the best Restaurants in all of the Creedmoor / Butner area. It's your traditional American Hero, but with fast and notably friendly service. It is a fun place to sit down and have lunch or dinner and the food is all great. We love trying new things as we know whatever we try will be fantastic. Their pizza is a big family favorite. We always grab one or two for parties or a quick dinner. I've been eating here for 15 years or so. Its a really simple restaurant concept. Some dishes (lasagna and pizza by the slice) are ready when you walk in. Others, like philly cheese steaks and fries are made to order. Everything's great-I usually have trouble deciding. Food is piping hot and really fast! Definitely give this place a try!! read more

Restaurant was clean, tables are of decent size. THis place has subs, (hot & cold) pizza, salads, calzones & strombolis & gyros. The guy behind the counter said they sell tons of pizza. They stay open til 9 pm and we were so glad. Our flight arrived and we took Uber to Franklinton to pickup our car. It was late and we found this place open. We ordered the Italian sub and another sandwich both were good not great. Friendly helpful staff. Dessert was good but not made there. I would visit again next time I'm in the area. read more
