We were in a bind and needed floors refinished and repaired ASAP. Paul and his team responded to our request. The floor repair is undetectable and the refinishing is flawless. Paul, Paul Jr. and Jeff are detail oriented,no shortcuts were taken and took the time explaining all the steps and answering our questions. Paul even refinished the thresholds as an added surprise, much to our delight! They arrived promptly at 8:30 both days as promised. All are very polite, professional and truly take pride in their workmanship. I highly recommend American Flooring! Big thanks and ever so grateful. read more

I no longer recommend American Flooring. Paul used high pressure to start a job and did not follow hard wood best practices (nor did he give me guidance that a 5" board stability would be a problem). Look up Craig Dupra for best practices. Our floors have 2/3 coats because Paul suggested we wait for the final coat due to painting. This resulted in cupping above the basement. We had to get a dehumidifier and fix a clogged gutter to resolve our basement moisture. He wanted to re-sand and finish the floors for an extra $8,500. This could have been avoided if we used a stable engineered hardwood over the basement. He claims he did everything right by measuring floor moisture, but as a craftsman he did not do the work according to our best interests. Now he's calling me about getting paid for work he didn't do 2 years later. I don't get it, but I absolutely will not recommend him. He left his broken ladder in our garage and asked us to save a built in, which cost us in labor. He never took either, even when I asked. Do not use American Flooring. Paul had a temper and made my wife cry. I do not recommend. He yelled at my contractors that it was their fault when it was his own. And he would not fix the transition to tile that was his issue due to the flooring. Tile should have gone down first because it does not bend. There are so many issues we could have avoided with better flooring advice and the order of operations. If you bought a fixer upper you need to solve any moisture issues in the basement before replacing hardwood flooring. I used to recommend him, because I think he can do good work. He re-nailed our entire subfloor with special screw like nails. This helped to eliminate almost all squeaks. But after he called me and cursed at me, I definitely do not recommend him. read more

I can't say enough about Paul, Paul Jr. and Uncle Jeff. They work together great and did an amazing job refinishing our floors!!! They are very meticulous and communicate very well. I highly recommend listening to what Paul Sr. suggests. I'll admit, at first he came in very confident. After the job was done, I now understand why. Just amazing is all I can say. You wont be dissatisfied if you have them refinish your floors. He showed me every step along the way and explained everything very thorough. By the end of the job I was looking for more to have them do because I was so happy with them. read more

My partner & I decided to renovate the first floor of his home. Albeit the cost of the project went over; the one area that we stayed on budget for was the installation of the hardwood floor which was done by Paul, & family. His (thier) attention to detail was impeccable. They were meticulos when it came to the alignment against our new cabinets; perfectly leveled the plywood under the new appliances prior to installation. In addition, timeliness, cleanliness, and professionalism were above & beyond what was expected or anticipated. We are so pleased that we exapanded our projecty to include an overhaul on the hardwood steps laeding to the second floor. Anyone looking for fair pricing & a world class outcome on your hardwood floor projects, pls give American Flooring Co. a call.. you won't regret it! Paul & Family, much thanks!! American Flooring Company - After refinishing by American Flooring - Flooring Near Me - Macedon, New York

Our floor hasn't looked this good in years! We're very pleased with the service, always on time, cleaned up nicely.i would recommend!

My mother passed away and the floors on her second floor were in a terrible state. The carpets were over 50 years old and removing them was too difficult because of the adhesive used and the compressed over time padding. Paul, Paulie and Jeff did a fantastic job restoring our floors to the hardwood floors that were hidden under carpet, glue and paint. I was hoping for the floors to look presentable. The floors are so much better than that. Words are just not enough. The guys did an incredible job. Honestly, if you want the best job possible hire these guys. They will exceed all expectation. read more

I called American flooring company to refinish my hardwood floors, and that was the beginning of a significant waste of my time trying to engage with someone who has no idea how to conduct business or possesses the common courtesy to return calls. I must've called American flooring after our first proposal 20 times to schedule a job, and the guy didn't have the decency to call me back. I think Paul's very unprofessional and would not recommend this company. read more

I can't recommend Paul enough. He refinished our original 100 year old hardwoods, winding wood stair case, and installed brand new hardwoods in two adjacent rooms. He was able to match the new wood to the old wood almost perfectly. He also installed shoe molding to match, and solved some unique issues our old Victorian house threw at him. He gave us multiple, creative options every time. We weren't living in the house at the time, so he texted us photos along the way so we knew immediately what the stains looked like, and how things were going. He ended up completely restaining the new floor a second time because he wanted to get it even closer to the original. He really cares about his work and his clients, and it showed. He completed the job right on time and very quickly. Our floors are absolutely gorgeous. We'll be hiring him again! read more

American Flooring Company - Paul and Team, summary - "Old Time Professionals". We had 280sqFt of Somerset (2.5x3/4) installed in our home. Our family room (also around fireplace), dining room and connecting entrance hallway and closet. The Work: Quality - everything was even, tight and no gaps. More than that Paul and his team takes pride in their work and wanted the job to look perfect. They stopped along the way to explain what they were doing and said if it did not look correct they would make sure it was as we wanted. Timeliness: Paul returned all our calls when we first inquired with them in a quick fashion. He was patient and spent time explaining what he was going to do. He said he would start at 8:15am and was at our home at 8:10am. They finished the job the next day (on a Saturday) and were there promptly at 8:15am. Cost and Comments: We purchased the material ourselves as we initially were going to install it ourselves, but decided to have it professionally installed. We had 6 quotes the prices ranged by a factor of almost x2. One of the most expensive was from a weekend installer who "did this on the side" from his normal job. The least expensive was from a professional, but he was impatient and did not want to provide references - he pretty much just wanted to install the wood and we do the finishing. American pretty much insisted on doing the job until finished (molding and all) so it looked professional as their name was on it. They purchased a few threshold pieces themselves to make sure it was "finished". They were not the cheapest, BUT were the least expensive for what they did. We spend a few hundred more above the "cheapest" price, but I believe we would not have been as happy. I know if we have any issues or problems, I would have no problem with American Flooring as they are professional who take pride in their work and name. read more
