Bottom-line up front - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I hired them to install a flagpole I brought with me from out of state. Because I had familiarity with how the pole had previously been installed, I should have known that this was going to be a less than satisfactory install. From my observation, there were three problems with the first attempt to install the pole: 1) The hole was not dug wide enough, 2) The concrete was (attempted to be) mixed in the hole, and 3) The pole was immediately slid into the sleeve before the concrete had a chance to set. Consequently, the sleeve and pole had a SIGNIFICANT amount of play and wobbled a lot in the wind. When I contacted the company about this, they agreed to come back and fix it. Great! When the same installer came back and jackhammered out the concrete, he admitted a lot of it was still powdery - meaning he hadn't gotten a good mix. He then made the hole a bit wider but still mixed the concrete in the hole. There is no way to get a good, thorough mix like this, especially in the lower part of the hole. He should've learned that lesson from finding the concrete still powdery from his previous install. I also expressed concern to him about putting the pole back in the sleeve while the concrete was still wet. After setting the sleeve in the concrete, he left without putting the pole in the sleeve. However, he came back about 4-5 hours later and without telling me he was there or what he was going to do, he put the pole in the sleeve. By good luck, I happened to see him out the window as he was leaving. I ran out and caught him just before he drove off and expressed my concern again about putting the pole in the sleeve too soon. He insisted it would be fine and just don't put the flags on for a day or two. He also made the comment that the concrete was already setting up and that he had a "hard time adjusting the pole." There's another problem - once the concrete started setting a bit and he deliberately moved the pole to "adjust" it, the concrete was moved away from the sleeve and wasn't going to move back next to the sleeve. Further, it shouldn't need "adjusting". The sleeve should have been perfectly straight if he had used a level on it when he first set it in the concrete. Also, on that day, we had winds gusting to 35 MPH so it didn't matter if he had moved the pole - the wind was going to move it anyhow. A 20-foot pole with average diameter of 2.5 inches is just over four square feet of surface area - a large "sail" for the wind to catch and move around in still-wet concrete. I cannot fathom how anyone could think it was okay to put the pole in that soon. Because of these unacceptable mistakes, the sleeve moved in the concrete, again! Not as much movement as the first time but it still moved. Therefore, I contacted the company again, with a video to show them the movement. They did not respond to my email so I called them. They told me they had to discuss it with management and that, "It costs us money to keep going down there." (The company is in Phoenix; I live in Tucson) If they would do the job right the first time, there would be no need to come back. And, I told them there was no rush and that they could wait until they were already coming to Tucson for another job. They said they would get back to me but they never did and, subsequently have refused to respond to phone messages, emails, or web contact submissions. If they don't want to come back to fix their work, they at least owe me a refund. That has not happened either. I have since found someone who knows what they are doing to fix my flagpole. They found the concrete to still be powdery and not mixed well; the hole was still not big enough in diameter; and, the pole was put in too soon. After the sleeve was set for the third time, properly, I waited a week to put the pole up. The installation is now solid. This company clearly has no idea how to properly install a pole and their customer service is horrendous. It appears they want the profit but no accountability for quality. read more
