Had all the right gear and the right anchors to support my 75" TV, which wasn't made to be the lightest. Put down drop cloth and cleaned along the way. Had a helper to split the work and get the job done fast. I did t have to lift a finger. Provided some good advice on placement and AV design. Although my needs were basic, they seem knowledgeable in setting up full blown home theatre systems. They were responsive even though they were busy going from one job to the next. I guess when you're decent at your job a lot of folks hire you. I would use them again in the future.

The quote was then way more than what we were expecting so we didn't move forward with the work. We were then told they had a $75 cancellation fee - something we were never told over the phone. I've never had this happen before. Even with our other handyman, plumbers, etc. - if you can't do the work, you don't get paid for NOT doing the work. We were told that this would cover gas expenses - why take a job that is out of your network? They knew our address well before coming out. Also, some of our intake conversations were over text, so I wish we discussed the job over photos so they knew what we wanted to do in terms of the job and give us a proper quote. Just felt very scammy and weird after them asking for money without starting the job.

The fireplace is…read morerocky, unlevel stone, so I checked a few places for quotes, but some did not offer drilling into stone. Other places did, but there were no pictures of the work, or the TVs in the results did not look centered. I'm so glad to have stumbled upon HD Custom Installations - it is very reasonably priced considering his experience and professional work. We received a relative's old 45" TV and had neglected our living room for over a year (it had become storage pretty much), so we wanted a reason to use it again. We decided it'd also be great to have a swivel mount, as the living room was an open space plan with the dining area. He chose a swivel mount for us that would support bigger TVs should we plan to upgrade. Initially the placement of the TV mount was a little high, and I anxiously asked if he could move it 2 inches lower. He took the time to unmount it, show it to me & explained how it was the optimal place to drill into -- drilling any lower would be dangerous, and our TV was too small so moving it higher on the mount's rungs would leave some parts sticking out. He quickly thought of the best alternative solution & went so far as to trim part of the mount off, to get it low like I requested. He also noticed I was worried about the centering/placement of the TV, so he made sure to measure & check that it was level several times over and reassure me. To make sure the cord wasn't just hanging loose, he used a brown extension cord and secured it between the stone. We're beyond thrilled to hang out in this space again. Thank you so much!
