Been a customer for many years now. This may not last much longer. Missed another Monday pickup. Sometimes I'll leave the can out on Tuesday. I call to file a complaint but no one EVER answers their phones . Always goes to voice mail. Leave an email but no one answers those either. I asked for credit for the missing pickups and when I took a credit on my quarterly billing I received a dunning notice. This company provides no customer service whatsoever. They won't last too much longer and they have no one to blame but their own mismanagement. read more

They picked up the trash in the afternoon and left my trash bin open. which results there are tons of water in the trash bin. The worst service ever. When other trash companies show up in your neighborhood and get the job completed. American Disposable Services comes in last. I refrain from calling them on a monthly basis because the hold times are 45 minutes or longer. The latest issue happens yesterday 7/721. My trash sits outside the night before. ADS picks up everyone's trash except the can at my location. This is not the first time. I'm not really sure how to express my frustration around a trash pick up. I guess to add insult into injury when I finally got through the line after several calling attempts I was told by a representative that they would be coming by today- my trash is still outside full The insult to the injury comment is that a second trash company called Smith Sanitation is always on schedule in our community. If I could give them 1/2 a star I would. They are the worst I've ever dealt with. They say they will pick up on a certain day, then not show up. Sometimes they will pick up on time, sometimes not. Other times when the can was full they would not pick up the garbage that was left on the side of it in a trash bag. One time the wheel on the can broke. Took 2 weeks to get a replacement can. Other cases where they changed my pickup date, then when they did'nt show up, I had to wait another week for them to pick up the trash. This means that the can was overflowing and that the trash sat out there for 2 weeks. To put it in other words.. THEY SUCK!!!!! We switched to Trash Taxi. I give those people 4 stars!!!!! read more

I've had American disposal for the last eight years and I can honestly say that in that time span they have been a good company for my waste removal, services and recycling. Although they have raised prices over the years and quite likely year over year, they are customer service friendly, and will help with fixing your price issue or hike. Additionally, I want to say that I had a lot of recycling items that overflowed my two bins due to the holiday and some house projects and after weeks of the boxes being put out they were finally picked up today by one woman who managed to get all of them into their truck and I just hope that she is recognized for the great job that she did because it was a lot of boxes, and I think there were other workers that opted to just leave them, but on MLK day no less they were all taken care of! THANK YOU! Also, I know for a lot of newer customers to the area who are looking for a disposal service, and I can guarantee you that I have called many of them in the area and American is still the cheapest by a large margin. Many of the competitors are charging upwards of 50% more for the same service especially Hugh's in particular. I can't recall what my starting rate was eight years ago, but I know now that it's around $70 every three months or quarterly and you'd be hard-pressed to find that price in these parts today. Though I am a long-standing customer and you may not be able to get the same kind of deal. I can be pretty confident in the fact that you will receive a more competitive offer than the rest. read more

These reviews...whew! I have had minor issues with American in the past couple years, but some of y'all really going through it with them and I hate that! We've had American for a little over two years, the initial sign up was not by choice, but by necessity as the area of Smyrna we live in is not serviced by the city and at the time we moved in 2019, there was only one trash company servicing our area regularly...queue American. We have their weekly service and for the most part we have never had issues with missed pick ups or partial pickups. They do a good job at communicating delays due to holidays, etc... Due to all the leaves that cover our yard in the fall, we always have copious amounts of yard waste and American happily picks up in addition to our default trash. They allow 5 bags of yard waste per week, so we just ration it until we get through all the bags. I will say that if folks are attempting to contact customer service, I can see why the reviews are low. The CS is super tough to get ahold of and and not really helpful. They also close at 4:00 PM each day, so make sure to call early to get help! Outside of the customer service, I will say the only other irritating thing is they aren't consistent with pick up time. However, I won't complain too much as they at least pick it up! read more

My husband has tried to reach them several days because over the phone. He has not been able to pay our bill on line. Today again he was on hold for 45 min. No response! Had a same issue last week, and we just can't stay waiting on the phone for several days. Service used to be decent -$30/ month for weekly trash & recycling pickup. In the past 3 years they've continually raised their rates (now almost $50/month) and cut back on recycling services. They have missed my pick up about half the time over the past 3 years. This past year it got really bad -- they missed 6 out of 7 last August/September and now 6 in a row in December/January. I have politely notified them each time, to no avail. They are impervious to notifications of missed pick ups -- most of the time they don't bother to respond and when they do, they usually don't pick up on the "missed pick up" day either. In short, they are perfect at taking my money by autopay each quarter, but awful at taking my trash. Terrible company. The worst I have ever dealt with for any product or service. It's now called Waste Connections. And they are horrible. Do not sign up for this company. Try Trash Taxi, BGreen, Custom, Hughes, Red Oak - or really anyone else. Awful service, completely unreliable, rude, non-responsive, and take ZERO responsibility. They will accuse you of not having out your trash/recycling out, or they will lose your cans and try to make you pay for new ones -- if you do sign up for them, make sure you have cameras to prove it wasn't you. We tried for almost 2 years with them because Indian Hills gets special pricing - we are finally moving off of their service. Trash container still not removed as of 3/1/24. It's pretty obvious from the rest of the 1 star reviews here how bad this company is from a customer service standpoint. Here is an example of how "great" their customer service is: We were supposed to have a 1 day delayed pick after memorial day. After this was missed with no notification or expectation of when there would be a pick up, I filled out a missed pickup notification on their website. This was June 3rd. I just received a response from customer service today (21 days later) stating: "Thank you for contacting American Disposal Services! I am so sorry to hear that your trash was missed. If I may ask, has your trash been serviced? If not I will open a work order on the account notifying dispatch of the missed pickup." Wasn't me filling out the form a notification of a missed pickup? Why are they just now responding three weeks later? After three weeks, it's pretty much irrelevant. The actual workers that do the pickup are great. Management and communication from the company is what needs a lot of work. It would be one thing if they would proactively let people know when there are issues. People can understand that, but when you don't pick up the trash and don't let people know why or when the service you are paying them for will get performed that sends a very strong message to your paying customers that you really don't care. read more

My residential trash pickup has rarely occurred on its weekly scheduled day of every Thursday, but they have now taken their unreliability, indifference, and incompetence to another level! My trash has not been picked up for almost 2 weeks!!!! The last pickup was on 7/3 (3 days late from the scheduled date of 6/30). Today is 7/14, and my trash is still sitting curbside, now full of maggots and who knows what else, stinking up the entire neighborhood, because it's been 11 days in pervasive heat. My neighbors and HOA are complaining as well because at this point, it's becoming a major health hazard! I sent a text message on 7/8 after it wasn't picked up on 7/7 and was told it would be picked up between 7/9 and 7/11. Of course, that didn't happen so I called on 7/11 and was told there was nothing they could do but pick it up on 7/14 (another week late) bc that was the day the drivers would be doing my route. Today is 7/14 so I sent another text msg to confirm pickup today, and was told, because of a 1 day delay, it'll be picked up tomorrow (7/15). I then called and was told there was nothing they could do, even after I told them I have been delayed since 6/30. At this point, I have ZERO confidence that pickup will occur tomorrow, as this is the 4th time in a little under 2 weeks that I've been lied to. This is the most unscrupulous company I have ever dealt with, and it should be put out of business because they are not performing their contractual agreement, and they are endangering their customers and others. I also will be demanding a full and complete refund of monies paid for service for the entire month of July, although just like with everything else, I'm sure they won't comply. This company (and I use the term loosely) is TRASH (pun intended)! I initiated service with American Disposal Services 5 weeks ago. I submitted online, twice and never received communication on the account being activated or that my request was even seen. I called the 1866 number (multiple times because there is always a 60 minute wait or the line disconnects). When i finally was able to get in contact with someone, i asked about my inquiries for service online and they stated that i was active. (Again, no communciation to advise customers that they are active). I advised the rep that i didn't have trash bins in my new home, and she told me that it would be a week before they could deliver bins. A week later, no bins. i called again and spoke to a representive, (Meka) and was told that the request was canceled because notes on the account said the residence has bins. AGAIN, no communication at all to ME THE CUSTOMER!! I let her know that it was extremely inconvenient to store trash bags in my home due to the lack of trash bins. And also i was paying for a service that couldnt be utilized. She said that they can't deliver the bins for another week. The representative was rude, and you could hear clear agitation in her voice. When i tried speaking, she would speak over me. I finally asked for a supervisor. She placed me on hold and then came back and advised me that a supervisor( Brittany) was not available and would call me back. That was 48 hours ago and i have yet to hear from anyone. I highly recommend staying away from this disposal company if you can. We used them for several years. Missed and delayed pickups were the norm. Most lately, they changed their pick-up days and weeks, leaving us with a scheduled delay of 3.5 weeks between recycling pickups instead of the 2 weeks we paid for. Then they missed the pick-up even though the can was at the curb. I immediately reported the missed recycling pick-up but did not hear back from them until 12 days after the missed pick-up - that is, more than five weeks after the last recycling pick-up. And all I got was an automated message asking me if my recycling had been picked up - which it still had not. They also do not issue a refund unless they miss two pick-ups in a row. Needless to say, we found a different trash company at a better price and with better ratings than American. read more

If zero stars was available, that is what American Disposal would get. They missed multiple pickups and I called, emailed, and used their online customer service link. Eventually I got through on the phone and they said they do not issue credits, so I deducted the missed pickup amounts from the last bill I got. They threatened to cut off service, so I paid the amount, called and cancelled the service at the end of the billing cycle, and was told they would pick up the can that week. It has been almost 4 weeks and the can is still sitting at the end of the driveway. Not giving credit for not providing service is theft, plain and simple. I have never dealt with a company that is so utterly incompetent. Switched to a new company and they pick up every single week and leave the can in the driveway instead of in the street.
