Had them out to inspect and clean three fireplaces for a house we recently moved into. Inspected all three, but they only said one needed cleaning so they didn't charge me to clean the two others that would have been unnecessary. Then, they gave me thoughts on what needed to be fixed on each of them that I could do on my own instead of paying the extra work for a professional to do it, telling me I could call back to walkthrough how to do it when the time comes. And, they filled sand into one of the fireplaces that was left bare by the previous owner with no charge. Very friendly, thorough, and honest service. Would definitely use them again. read more

Time for some Chimney maintenance. It's been a while since the time it was cleaned. Plus time to upgrade the gas log setup while were at it. First thing, do some home work on gas logs and burners. Go with remote control, safety pilot, or stick with match lite? Safety pilot system almost doubles the price of a new gas log set. Remote control + safety pilot almost triples the cost. Decided to stick with match lite. Bought a Peterson Real Fyre 24-inch Split Oak Designer Plus Log-Set with Vented G45 Dual- Flame Burner - Match-Light (Natural Gas). That's right, Vented G45 Dual- Flame Burner. Jealous? The Dual flame Model-G45 90,000 BTU VENTED burner produces more depth with rich full flames in front of the gas logs for more realism. It also came with a Custom Grate, Glowing Embers, Silica Sand, Damper Clamp and Flexible Gas-Line Connection Kit. Took Paul's advice and bought some lava rocks to fill in all around the log setup. Good call. There's a lot of things I can do around the house but things like high voltage and gas lines aren't one of them. Bring in the pros. I called a few but really liked American Chimney Sweep. Paul and his son Vinny came over and got it done. Nicest guys in the world. Very professional. They did a phenomenal job. If you hire them you will be in good hands. Ask Paul about Mary Poppins. By far one of the best experiences I've had with any contractor. Paul and Vinny provided a top quality experience that I wish all services would follow. We moved into our house almost 10 years ago, it's glorious Southern California so we never messed with the fireplace. Recently my wife decided she wanted to use the fireplace. We called American Chimney, they responded quickly and set up an appointment. They arrived within the allotted appointment time. They came in checked out the fireplace, inspected and cleaned the flue and vacuumed. We had a gas starter and some decorative logs but the set up wasn't correct. We were advised to either burn wood or purchase a vented log kit. We opted for the vented log style. They gave me the dimensions and asked that we texted them just to make sure the kit would work. There was no pressure to use them to install the kit but they said they could. We hated all the gas log sets so we opted for tempered fire glass and a fireplace burner kit. Today they came and installed everything. Super friendly and personable father and son team. Unfortunately I didn't get their names but the worked super clean and they we really personable and friendly. Overall a great job and the price they charged was fair and worth every penny. Had these guys out thIs past week. Like most homeowners I assume, I have no previous experience with chimney sweep cleaning services to draw from to compare these guys to. Owner came out with a younger guy who did the work. I'm sure decades of lying down on your back and staring up chimneys is hard on the body, so I get it. They asked me if I wanted to lay down and look up my chimney to see what they were talking about. Hell no! Ok, so I've been in my house for 13 years having probably 10 fires each winter. Yes, I use those easy burning fake logs. It's a gas fireplace and I burn the fake logs and put real firewood in once it's nice and hot. I get the fire nice and raging... and with it being a gas fireplace, I simultaneously hope the house doesn't blow up. At the conclusion of each fire, I silently give thanks that the house didn't blow up or burn down from a chimney fire. So, this is where I was coming from, when I called American Chimney Sweep. I wanted knowledge and reassurance. Which is what I got and why I am leaving them 5 stars. The owner is very knowledgeable and when I first called him, he guessed correctly what kind of fireplace I have based on my neighborhood. Which is to say a crappy pre-fab fireplace... but in remarkably clean condition. Phew! It's like going for a physical and learning you're going to be okay! The nice, if a little quiet and certainly very dirty, worker shoved a huge brush up my chimney and then covered the fireplace with a plastic sheet and then vacuumed up the mess. Then they patched up the cement where it needed it. They also used a special heat reinforced cement to fill in some space inside the chimney where it had fallen out, the owner surmised in the 1994 earthquake. So, my fireplace is clean. I'm reassured. Paul and his helper were great! We moved in to this house a year ago, and we barely used our chimney. Now that it's cold and wet outside, we tried using our chimney but the high winds plus dirty flue smoked us out. We couldn't get rid of the campfire smell, nor could we use our chimney. Unfortunately because it was in the beginning of the holiday season, we couldn't get Paul out here soon enough for Thanksgiving Day.
