After experiencing a horrible house fire and having to re-build our home we found great comfort knowing that Darla had our back. She met up with us at our home and brought along samples and ideas. Made a late 90's ranch style home into a more modern ranch style home. Darla helped us with flooring, granite tops and tile for our restrooms. She is very knowledgeable and goes out of her way even after the sell. She even stopped by our home to make sure it was being installed correctly. Who does that? These guys sold and installed my carpet back in 2000 and I was happy with the results so recently when I decided to replace said carpet with wood-look tile this was the first place I headed. They had two products that might have worked so I asked for prices and samples. It took a while for the sales lady to come up with prices and then she was very reluctant to allow me to check out the samples and was VERY adamant that I MUST leave a deposit. No problem. (Isn't that to be expected?) I returned the samples within the week but decided to look around more. I returned two months later ready to make the purchase. I was greeted by the same sales lady and I explained that I had it narrowed down to their two products and wanted to check out the samples one more time to make my final decision. Not only did she act like she'd never seen me before (seriously? I'm blonde and blue-eyed living in the RGV; it's not like I BLEND), but she said that they didn't even carry one of those products. WTH? Fortunately I had taken photos AND had written down the specifics. Nope, they didn't have the one I was leaning towards. Okaaaay, can I just check out the one sample of the other then? Nope, they didn't have any samples to check out. WTH? She said that someone must have TAKEN them. (Seriously? After she'd been such a Nazi about it last time? What happened? Didn't she have them leave a DEPOSIT?) Oh well, no problem. She made my decision easy. I decided to drop a chunk of change elsewhere. Thanks, American Carpets!!! read more

I cannot say enough great things about American Carpet and Tile. It is a wonderful family owned company to start, I was so tired of big box stores that offered little help. When I first went in years ago, one of the owners, Nora, was so nice and helpful. I was looking for a tile that they carried 10 years before for a bathroom repair project. They spent days going through old inventory and found some of the tile I needed, and several boxes of matching tile in a different color. She even gave me her son's cell phone so I could check in with him. Then she gave me some decorating advice on how to tie it all together with a glass tile decorative border! And a discounted price because the tile had been sitting around so long. Then I had a blinds project, and the son, Danny, referred me to his Uncle who does blinds. He came out to the house and hung temps when he took measurements, then came back and did the whole house for half of other estimates! But wait, there's more! The best part is Darla Richmond (ask for her by name), she is their salesperson/designer extraordinaire!! We were redoing our tween's bedroom, who we brought in to the store to pick out carpeting. She had all these great ideas, but really listened to our 12 yr old on what SHE wanted. Because we had already scheduled someone to come the next weekend to assemble all the new furniture, we needed this flooring project to happen quickly. She gave us a sample to take home, and showed up a few days later to take measurements herself! She referred the best install person in the valley, who also took scraps from the bedroom to redo some stairs that had taken a lot of wear. But her awesome customer service doesn't stop there - we were turning our garage into a playroom, and didn't want to spend a lot on carpet for a garage. A week later she called me to tell me about a remodel she was working on and where we could get some free barely worn carpet they were removing. When we showed up to pick it up, there was Darla, trying out paints on the walls with her customers - literally brush in hand, trying it out with them, and giving them honest feedback. She is a strait shooter, hard worker, and a pleasure to work with. Anyway, if you made it this far, I hope it is obvious - look no further for all of your flooring project needs!! read more

Horrible Customer Service. I was standing in line for about 20 mins. There were 2 workers and 2 clients, one of which was turning into a business transaction. Then when that person left, you would think the worker would go to the next customer, but no way, she went to help out the lady that was already being helped by the other worker. Then when they finally got to me, not only did they not have the product I needed, but they could not tell me where to get it. They said to leave a number and they would call back. Its been 3 days and have not heard anything. I dont see how this place is still in business. They seemed to want to help the pending customer with a larger order to make a sale that was worth their time. Ridiculous! Never going back to this place, and unless you have a huge order, they probably wont be interested in you business. read more
