My wife and I each have owned/leased several EVs now for 6 years. Just recently my EV tire monitor was showing a left rear dropping pressure slowly. Discovered a very small nail. Refilled the tire pressure and called the local Mavis Tire shop and they said bring it over. Fortunately, as I was talking to the "manager" when dropping off the car I told him my tires had the quiet-foam inside. He immediately said they would not fix nor plug it and he quoted a cost of over $500 for a new tire installed. I thanked him and left. I know Discount tire fixes EV tires and for free. We don't have any Discount tire within my area but while searching Google for Discount tire I learned that in my area it's called America's Tire. So off I went to America's Tire on MacArthur Rd. in Whitehall, PA. WOW! What a pleasant surprise when I arrived. The manager, Dan met me as I parked my car. I explained my slow leak and found out they will remove the tire, dismount it, inspect it even though it has the foam inside, repair it properly with the foam, from the inside, rebalance it and reinstall it on my car---for FREE.
I can't say enough about America's Tire. New facility. CLEAN. Polite. Friendly. Service Technician went into my car's setup screen and changed programming for the car to jack it up and then set the program back when done. They load info into their computer on my car make and model and tire size and it gives them the proper lug nut torque and proper air pressure and they did a "rebuild" on the TPMS sensor, in about 28 minutes---all for FREE. I know when it's time for new tires or repair to my EV's tires, America's Tire is where I'm going. They will even rotate and rebalance my tires for FREE. And when I need to buy new tires, I will also buy their "tire protection plan." read more
