Instead of going to stay with relatives I decided to book a country cottage through English Country Cottages and I would like to say I highly recommend them . There is a huge selection of places to choose from,at very reasonable prices and you can get a virtual tour before you book. The part that mostly appealed to me was that I had a choice of either living in a cottage for that short break or go onto a farm. All the properties are carefully vetted and are currently lived in. There are 2,500 properties to select from,including some castles in Scotland. You can be sure of the high level of comfort because they do insist on well equipped kitchens,bathrooms,cosy bedrooms and relaxed living rooms.

The village is very peaceful and the cottages are clean and modern with good facilities and pleasant gardens. There is a convenience store to buy food, a Starbucks and a Papa John's for take away pizza as well as a selection of bars and restaurants. I didn't have enough time to explore the spa hotel during my stays, but I definitely plan to in my own time.
