I stopped off here for lunch yesterday. It was a cold and windy day in the Dales and sitting by the log fire in the bar couldn't have been more perfect. The internal decor of the place might be considered a little tired, but it felt warm and welcoming. I really couldn't decide what to choose from the menu, it's your standard pub fayre, but I like standard pub fayre - when it's done well. In the end I ordered Sirloin steak and I'm glad I did! It was one of the best steaks I've had in quite a while; cooked perfectly (I ordered rare) and accompanied by really great home cooked chips, mushroom and deliciously crispy onion rings. The meat is supplied from a farm only a couple of miles away, it seems most of the ingredients are locally sourced where possible. The portion size was generous to say the least. Next time I'm in the area I'll definitely be calling in again for a pint and something else off the menu. read more
