I honestly have nothing but good things to say about this theater. Went in to a Dolby theater for the first time and absolutely loved the reclining chairs that also heat up. What a nice perk. Super comfy and enjoyable for the movie, the beer was an added bonus!

You can only order food or drinks from the kiosks, so make sure you scan your AMC memberships from your app to get your points! Despite this AMC being located at a pretty popular outdoor mall, we were able to enjoy this theatre as if it were just us and a few others. As most AMCs, you can get tickets online in advance or just use the self-serve kiosks at the front. I like that there's multiple of them so it's easy to grab tickets without needing to wait in any lines. $9+ for a regular popcorn a la carte, with the large popcorn being $10+. I like that the food pickup counter is large enough to get supplies like boxes or soda lids on each side. The staff was very efficient and we got our popcorn very quickly. I enjoyed the recliner chairs!!! (A must) Super grateful for them and the heated feature worked very well also.

Very comfortable recliners!

Convenient location inside the UTC mall. The recliners were very comfortable and I was surprised to see that there is a button for hot/cold recliner setting! We bought our tickets online so that we can arrive later and skip all the previews. Don't forget to bring your parking ticket because there is a validation machine at the theater!

The movie I saw!

Food is made to order, decent deals. Only downside is everything is touch screen to select what you want. It's difficult to apply promotions and activating rewards without getting the help from the employees. There is only one that checks you in, and a single person making the orders, not taking them. Other than that the theatre is clean, seats are spacious and comfortable.

Dolby theater AWESOME!

WOW!!! Theater totally revamped...NEW RECLINING SEATS! Super comfortable, BEST in the area. I used to frequent Cinepolis Del Mar but they've been having years of problems with their seats from mechanical, lopsided, & ripped leather, with management saying it's been difficult to get parts, I'm taking my business here and telling everyone about it! Buy your tickets online or at the kiosk when you enter. Few employees as they're mostly self serve now, from buying tickets to ordering food on screens, but the few employees that were there were all super friendly and nice. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked, food seemed fresh, fresher than most AMC theaters, convenient to park BUT validation only adds one hour. Miss the old Arclight extra 2 hours for parking. Got charged $3 for parking since F1 movie is over 2.5 hrs long (don't forget to add about 30 minutes for previews, and the time it takes to park). Since most movies aren't this long, 3 hrs is usually enough for a single movie. Loved their DOLBY Theater!!! Excellent sound system that rumbles beautifully. Seats don't recline flat but enough to be comfortable and plushy. Enjoy!

I HAD SUCH A GREAT TIME THAT I ENDED UP CANCELING MY AMC MEMBERSHIP!!!…read more The experience here was just that good, and the customer service was truly top tier. I ordered a small popcorn and had to wait a few minutes for a fresh batch to be ready. Personally, I think that's completely reasonable because I'd much rather wait a few minutes for hot, fresh popcorn than receive something that's been sitting around. The employee still apologized for the wait, even though it was something completely outside of her control, and then went above and beyond by giving me a large popcorn for the short wait. I genuinely felt like we waited a very appropriate amount of time, so that gesture really stood out to me. It showed how much they care about making sure customers have a great experience. The theater itself was huge, the seats were incredibly comfortable, and the parking lot was super easy and convenient. Everything about the visit was smooth and enjoyable. I truly had the time of my life here and left feeling very impressed. Between the comfortable theater, fresh food, convenient parking, and especially the amazing customer service, Edwards Regal definitely earned all five stars from me. A luxury movie experience one needs every now and then, this THE LOT location in LJ with upscale,…read moreclean, and comfortable environs perfect for serving that desire. The Lot is very unique in that they not only serve as a movie theater, but have a full-service dinner and bar area as well. Adjoining ASA Bakery is also on-site, serving creative, too-pretty-to-eat pastries and matcha drinks. Honestly, the $24 price tag for a movie experience might seem steep, but other movies theaters are in and around that price anyways. At The Lot, at least you're getting comfortable, plush seats, a seemingly private viewing experience with your partner in your recline-ready love seat, food and drink wait service at your seat (if you desire it), and superb picture with okay enough sound. On that note, some cons: -We recently watched The Odyssey and some of the scenes were blaringly LOUD to the point where my ears felt like they could bleed. They do not divulge their sound system either, only that it's "high-end". The sound could definitely use better balance. -Mentioned love seats are very apparent upon booking now, making selection easy with no confusion. The theaters do cater to them so if you're in a group, you'll feel far from them. -Try as we might to pay in person, we could not avoid the service fee applied to all sales. Service fees are my biggest gripe, enough to teeter this rating. The atmosphere though is rather spectacular, so some things are to be ignored. -No true matinee prices unless you're a member. $20-22, otherwise, on Wednesday's for non-members.

I really enjoy the experience of The Lot, but between this location and the one on Liberty Station,…read morethe service always leaves something to be desired. Each visit (three separate occasions), something I've ordered was either forgotten or brought out very late. On this particular visit (Fri, July 3rd), I went to see a movie for my birthday. Unfortunately, due to public transportation, I was unable to make it to the theater as early as I wanted. My movie started @ 1:30, but I didn't make it inside until about 1:40 or so. The trailers were still playing, but the lights were off inside and the other guests seemed to already have their food/drinks. So, I attribute some of the mishap to that. However, there were less than ten people in the theater. So, keep that in mind as well. I ordered poke nachos, a popcorn, and a soda. Pretty simple order, right? My "host" brought out the popcorn + drink pretty swiftly. The popcorn tasted stale, just like another time I'd visited. Even though I'm pretty sure their 1:30 movies are their first showing. About halfway through the movie, I pressed the call button because I still hadn't received my nachos. The host said, "They might be ready now. Let me check." Translation: "I forgot them." That was pretty annoying. Especially as this is the third time something like this has occurred at The Lot. And I've only been three times in total. Luckily, the popcorn was free because it was my birthday, which I had to remind the host twice before he tried charging me. Do not order it unless you enjoy stale popcorn. The nachos and ginger ale were tasty, though. Overall, the vibe/setup is nice for viewing films. I only which the service and attention to detail was better.

I didn't see half price reflected on the screen. My movie started in two minutes, and I was here on Tuesday to take advantage of the offer. I was told I'd have to pay full price for the movie unless I was a member and the only way to become a member was to go online. I wasn't directed to scan a barcode or anything. I just searched up the place on my phone and cell service was slow, so it took me a few minutes to register with their questionnaire and confirmation. We are now five minutes past the movie starting time and the kiosk aren't working. I can't pay for the half price ticket . Out of the four people behind the counter there's only one actively serving customers . I approach one to complain and tell them that I need to buy a ticket and that I'm late to my movie and that the kiosk are not working . Instead of offering to check me out, she asked me which one of the kiosk isn't working and goes over there . She was rude at my every question . I just want to pay the Tuesday rate and see a movie. It shouldn't be this hard ! So it's 10 minutes past movie starting time and I found myself waiting in line trying to buy a ticket. There still is only one person actively serving customers . I walk up to the counter and ask one of the two others who are just chatting behind the counter if they could sell me a ticket . I let them know that I was very disappointed with the experience at the theater so far I'm getting the machine to even accept a swipe or tap at the counter took a couple minutes ... To add to the experience, one of the crew members asked me 8 mins if I wanted to just buy a full price ticket... I had no response. I got into my movie after it started. I have no idea how much of it I missed. But it was good. I recommend verity. It seems like this theater is trying to make the experience quick and convenient with the kiosks, but it was anything but. I recommend an updated system that actually works reliably along with a way to sign up for their membership in store with way less questions to answer. The pricing seems decent for food. Watching a movie in the actual movie theater was comfortable. Getting to theater and to the bathroom afterward was not. The one bathroom was extremely crowded after the movie got out. I didn't feel like standing outside the door, so I just left and went to the bathroom at sprouts. This spot is a "no-go" for me, but you might like it. I will try other options in the area before ever returning. Them requiring you to provide them with your gender ZIP Code movie preferences email phone number, etc, before offering a discount on their Tuesday movies is an inconvenient information grab. That delayed me enjoying the movie made me never want to return and it was completely unnecessary. Without that, I might've enjoyed the movie come back and join the membership for rewards all on my own regularly on Tuesdays...

My seat G4 did not recline so we asked for assistance, and an employee checked out the chair. He pulled it out from the wall & flipped it over & wow, there was so much popcorn & debris behind the chair. Yikes! Anyway, he fiddled with it & flipped it back over & it reclined. Yay! But then my friend who was supposed to sit in G3 canceled last minute. I purchased the tickets for everyone so I went to the guest services desk to explain the situation, and Robert kindly processed a refund for that ticket without an issue. Very much appreciated! The employee scanning tickets at the entrance was also very nice. The 3:15 pm movie started at 3:43pm after 7 previews and a few commercials. When the movie began, the picture quality & sound were great. We enjoyed the film and we would come back to this theater. I just won't think about what is behind the seats! There are alcoholic drinks available at MacGuffins & the usual concessions are on offer at the concessions stand. They also have several of those soda machines with the touch screens where you can choose from hundreds of different soft drinks! We didn't purchased any treats this time because we'd just eaten at Shake Shack down the street, but the prices seemed reasonable. There's plenty of parking in the underground lot & the bathrooms, while still dated, were clean and functional. In my previous review, I mentioned the renovations happening in the mall. Well, they're done & the mall looks great. There's new beautiful flooring, lots of colorful & aesthetic planters, a grassy area for kids to play & folks to rest and lots of interesting businesses. The UCSD Box Office has some pretty amazing prices for tickets (like 7 bucks for AMC silvers/Regal reds, 8.50 for AMC Gold/Regal Blue). And they also sell Ticketmaster tickets from venues/events throughout california (but they are priced the same as online except for events at UCSD in which it's much cheaper to buy from them). If you are a UCSD undergraduate student you'll get bigger discounts on events like at ArtPwr, the Loft, Rimac, etc. Take advantage of them! Pro: - They have some really good prices for amusement parks and other tickets. 26 bucks for Six flags, a whole buncha tickets for Disneyland, etc. - Usually there isn't a line unless it's a Friday in which everyone and their mothers want to buy tickets. SO DONT GO ON FRIDAYS. Cons: - There is a $1 transaction fee for your whole order of non-events (like AMC, Disneyland, Hornblower, etc). $5 if you purchase them online. You cant purchase these tickets over the phone. - They are open from 10am-4pm in which they are rarely ever flexible. - Sadly if you're coming from off-campus, it's a pain to find parking in order to get to them.

Martin (A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones) and Kim Stanley Robinson (Red Mars trilogy), renowned authors in the fantasy and science fiction genres, respectively. They were giving a workshop on the art of writing in their respective genres, having being workshop instructors in the past and wanting to pass along their knowledge to budding writers. Though the workshop itself is 5-star in itself for an opportunity to be in the presence of two respected authors, the ticket buying experience left much to be desired. Tickets for this event went on sale the month before right at 10am. You could purchase the tickets either online or personally through the box office. The base price of the ticket was $40. Here are my main gripes: - The FINAL ticket price was $49. $49!! Along with the base price were two fees: a $4 service fee as well as a processing fee for $5 for orders processed in the box office web site. You would think that the processing fee would apply to the more labor intensive task of buying it AT the box office as you need to pay staff to man the window. Unless you're a UCSD student or have a weird work schedule that allows you to go to the box office it is much easier to purchase your ticket online. Going to UCSD has its own set of hassles, most notably the pricy daily parking if you don't have a parking pass. - The line to get into the event was well organized BUT the line for will-call was anything but. The line for the event started when box office was already closed so for a good 10 minutes me and another person were very confused with what to do with claiming our tickets. Someone finally approached us and told us to wait in another line close to the line for the entrance to the event and a tent will be set up for will-call. That person (most likely a student) was rather indifferent about the situation and did nothing to alleviate our worries about not being able to claim our tickets. 30 minutes later we were able to get our tickets from the makeshift "will-call" but this was shortly before the event was to start. UCSD needs to get their act together and make the ticket purchasing system as transparent as possible and have staff set up their will call as early as possible to appease ticket holders.
