I'm not a real fan of AMC theaters and this theather is one of the reasons why. The theater itself Is quite large, but the seating is horrible no reclining seats, stains on the seats and the theater just had a old moldy smell they're definitely in dire need of an upgrade or they should have demolished this theater like they did the mall that was attached to it. I'm not retuning we only popped in because we were in the area looking to catch the Flight Risk which was awful and just made matters worse. I'm not recommending period. read more

No frills casual movie theatre, this is the best place to go during weekends or after a work day to entertain yourself with the latest movies. They have a huge selection of movies across Hollywood, Bollywood and Telugu. They don't have dine in but they do sell some of the premium amc options. They also have amc collectible cups and popcorn baskets. There are 10 plus auditoriums hence multiple shows and films playing. Most auditoriums are wheelchair accessible and so are the restrooms. The facility could be a little more clean. Overall a good experience. The price is moderate. read more

This is the most disgusting theater I've ever been to. I was really looking forward to seeing a movie tonight but I had to bow out when I saw the condition. I can't imagine sitting through 2.5 hours in these damp seats with green stains, not knowing what you're breathing in. I've never jumped out of a seat so fast in my life. I once came here about 3 years ago and thought it was a little run down but still passable then. It genuinely looks like they haven't bothered to clean it in 3 years. Your tickets may be cheaper than at other AMCs but there is a reason for that. Avoid like the plague (which may actually be growing in the seats!). read more

The mall is gone, but AMC is open and thriving! We went on a Thursday night. Parking is great and buying tickets is easy. The team members were very friendly! The theater and restrooms were clean and inviting. I've been watching movies here since my childhood and I'll certainly continue. read more

What a bad experience yesterday. Self-professed comic nerd here. Was excited to see the fantastic four at 2PM showing in theater 4. We got there early and the theater was stifling hot so I went and asked the woman at the ticket counter if there's a problem with the AC. She flatly said the construction knocked out the AC. Of course my response was and you didn't cancel the show? There are dozens of people coming. You can talk to the manager if you want so I did. I asked the manager if he was really intentionally selling tickets to a theater on a 95° day with no air conditioning. He then backpedaled and said this was the first he heard of it and he'd look into the problem. The air started but just barely and it was halfway through the movie and it never did get cool in there. I saw lots of people complaining and the manager offered nothing. No refund, no free tickets, not even a friggin soda. I come there because it's cheap but not worth getting heat stroke because they don't care about their customers welfare read more

As far as movie theaters go this is your basic theater. Popcorn and trash on the floor, unstocked lids and straw. Seats are spacious, projectors work fine. Definitely not my first pick as other Yelpers have mentioned, but not the worst either. read more

This is a decent place to see a movie and the prices seem to be cheaper. But it's attached to a defunct mall(which will soon be demolished to make way for a new project), so I wonder what will happen to this location. The theatre seating, staff, etc was fine. Decided to come to an afternoon showing of Guardians of the Galaxy before it leaves theaters. The first thing I noticed when I entered the theater (#7) was that the seats were filthy... stained and gross. I didn't want to sit down for the show. It was hard to tell if all the stains were dry or not. Thoughts of what could have caused those stains was sending me. It's time for an upgrade to vinyl seating or some other material that is easily wiped clean and sanitized. One star for the actual screen viewing of the movie. Come at your own risk. You might want to bring a plastic bag or something to sit on. read more

I will never patron this theater again. I come from out of town to take my nieces to the movies only to find someone was in our seats and the manager did not make them move and honor our seats that were previously purchased. What point is paying for seats if other patrons are allowed to sit wherever they want because someone was in their seat. Extremely disappointed and will never return to this location. read more

Came to watch an indian movie here. The ticket prices were cheaper than other movie theaters. The lady at the front who scanned my tickets was very nice. The theater we were in was large but the floors were sticky and seats didn't look very clean. You reserve your seats online which is nice and the seats and rows are labeled clearly for you to find seats. The seats don't recline. read more

I have seen mostly everyone's comments about this theater. For that primary reason, I wasn't going to visit this location at all. I was given another opinion by a good friend of mine. Recently, Groupon has been running a promotional deal for a discount on tickets. I personally feel this helped and it was a good price. I went to the evening showing of "Queen and Slim". The film was fantastic but I will get to the actual theater. As I looking at the previous comments, I saw many folks complained about the stickiness of the floors. The floors were sticky and the seats weren't comfortable. If you are thinking this place has the recliner seats, you're in for a ride awakening. I ended getting a snack which wasn't a lot of money. The staff was very friendly and respectful. My only gripe is the entrance to the actual theater. You have to go on the side of the building to enter into it. I noticed that this location is in the mall. There is free parking which is always a good thing. So my overall experience wasn't bad, I didn't have high expectations going in. My experience was actually pretty good! If I'm ever in the area again, I may revisit this location. read more

This theater has some major issues when it comes to renovations and overall accessibility. I drive around the mall 3 times before I was able to find the entrance. The entrance Yelpers is a red service door located near Marshalls. Once you enter the red doors you walk down a service hallway until you make it to the front. The self check in machines were broken so you had to wait in line. Once you entry into the theater *we were in 5* the seating is old and torn. I paid for premium seats on Fandango and got outdated non-reclining chairs from the earlier 2000's. This week we had a very strange experience. We were looking for a movie theater nearby that showed the movie Glass at a specific time and this AMC had the timing just right for us. We drove about 20 min over to this shopping center and finally found the place. It took a while to find the entrance because strangely it's not really well labeled. You can walk through several furniture shops or the Marshalls to get into the mall and deep within this mall you'll see the AMC tucked in the back. Once you're inside, it's clear where it is. AMC's have a cool feature now that if you are standing behind a long line of people who don't know how to decide on a movie time, you can go over to the self service computer and print your tickets. Well that is what we did and walked in. They stopped us at the ticketing area and said, "Oh wow you were able to buy these tickets?" Strange question to ask but only to find out that they just decided to not show that movie. Never had that happen before! Then a few people started to call around and then finally we were told that, yes, indeed they were going to show the movie but it may be in another theater. We should hang around until they clarify. We stood around for about 30 min when we finally went back to them to figure out whether they were still showing the movie and they said yes the theater was now open. Thanks for telling us! I did give them one more star than I would have because of their self service drink area which was pretty cool. The theaters unfortunately were poorly maintained. Their wash trash in the aisles and sticky candy over a few of the seats. The movie itself was fine but the service and the upkeep of the space was poor. I have found very few 1 or 2 star businesses. Most businesses that continue to exist get usually at least 3 stars but there are rare circumstances where a business manages to stay afloat despite delivering a poor product. I would say that the only thing worse than this theater was the mall itself that it was sitting in... I'll get to that review next. I will definitely not be coming back to this theater even if it were to provide a convenient timing for a showing. Poor upkeep and poor service here. I would stay away. read more

For a family of four, movies can get super expensive and this place is definitely the best deal in town if you want to see a new release. At least that's what we thought until we all got lice after watching Guardians of the Galaxy. After spending money delousing our family and house, I think we broke even. But hey, different strokes for different folks. Some people may enjoy the bonding experience of picking through each other's hair for bugs. For us, we would rather spend full price and not go through that experience again. read more

This theater either needs to be completely gutted and done over or burned down. Came here last night which was a Saturday to see M3gan. Customer service wasn't the worse. The tickets and snacks were inexpensive. I got excited when we walked up to get popcorn because it was popping fresh. Why was it still stale? How is that possible? Then I go to make my drink and I was met with sticky puddles. Go to put butter on the popcorn and couldn't even sit my drink down while I did so because the counter was cluttered with napkins and what looked like drink stains and old popcorn from every customer that came before us. We walk into the theater to find the smell of unwashed hair. It was so musty and stale smelling in there. There was trash and popcorn everywhere. My experience was horrible. Price: Average pricing. I paid full price but the person collecting the tickets let everyone in free and had the nerve ask for my stub. Cleanliness: The theater was neat but the rest rooms were awful. I asked one of the crew members to clean them. She replied, "I am busy." So I asked her to bring me the supplies. She did and I cleaned one of the toilets myself. Theater Decor: Outdated. Unlike most of the other AMC Theaters, this place has no reclining seats. Enforcement Officer Power Trip: TLDR: The enforcement officer (who I assume was in his late 40s and clearly unhappy with his career working with highschool era) thinks he caught us sneaking in when in reality he can't critically think. So I came here to watch an 8$ bollywood movie with my family, they arrived early so they got my ticket and was awaiting my return. They went ahead and went in and the ticket lady ripped all tickets at once. As i came my friends were behind the rope just talking while I took a phone call. I then went to get my ticket checked which there was no one, so I went in. The enforcement officer (who I assume was in his late 40s and clearly unhappy with his career working with highschool era) then yelled and asked for my ticket, and said why do you think you can get in with a already ripped ticket.... I said I didn't know cause I don't work there... and he laughed and said I need to buy a ticket. Then snickered and remarked that "they really tried it". I responded i wasn't trying anything and he said "you know I dont have to let you in tonight." I laughed. After a lot of yelling we were right and went and watched the movie There is a reason these movie tickets are cheap. Avoid this place at all costs read more

I won't come back to this location again or recommend it. I went with a group for a private screening. They had difficulties with screening the movie in our original theater and had to switch us which lead to an hour delay. They told us we could not enter the new theater until a certain time but when we entered the movie had already started. I will admit that the staff was informative about the difficulties and tried to remedy the inconvience. However my main issues were the location and condition of the theater. The theater is in a dilapidated mall. Unlike several AMC theaters in the Atlanta area this location has not been updated or renovated. The seats were dated and dirty. The floor was peeling and sticky. The bathrooms needed to be cleaned. The concession stand was not tidy and I found the popcorn to be old both during my original purchase and refill. I was not comfortable during my 3 hour movie that turned to an over 4 hour experience due to technical issues. There are so many other movie theaters for the same price or cheaper where you can get a better experience. read more

In my experience the best time to visit this theater is on Sunday morning during the matinee show time. The price is $3.77 for adults, kids, and seniors. There are no crowds and the service is good. Fore sure AMC North DeKalb 16 has the best ticket prices compared to the other AMC Theaters. On Friday & Saturday night the theater gets really busy, lines are long because no one utilizes the 2 self checkout kiosk. The food lines have about a 20 min wait time if you're not an AMC rewards card holder. Although this seems to be the norm at most theaters on the weekends. However, I think management can do a better job with implementing routine schedules to ensure the trash is disgarded more often and that the drink/condiments section is orderly and clean. read more

One of my girlfriends and I was in the area one Saturday and I was searching for tickets to see " Girl's Trip". This particular day was the second day of the movie coming out and every theater I looked up was sold out of tickets for every showing. My girlfriend suggested that we try AMC Classic North Dekalb 16 because not only did they show available tickets but the tickets were extremely cheap compared to other theaters which on average cost $15 per ticket. The tickets at this theater for adults are only $4.67 for a matinee and $6.67 any other time, who can beat that. Although, the AMC is attached to the mall it is not easy to find parking close to the movie theater which the entrance is inside the mall right next to the Marshall's. We ended up parking behind the mall and walked all the way around. The staff was very friendly and the lines move fast whether you are buying tickets or in the concession line. The concessions are standard they offer all the basics. I was impressed with the cleanliness of their crowded lobby and bathroom. We were early for the movie that we went to see so the lights were up and the theater was practically empty so I had a good chance to see why the tickets were so cheap. For starters I could not find a seat that was not severely stained with some unknown substance, if you are a germaphobe like me make sure you cover up before sitting down. The arm rest where I sat no longer set up on its own so there was no resting of the arm for me, I was glad that my cup didn't fall out of it. I rarely ever go to the movies due to being anemic and not being able to stand a cold theater but this theater's temperature was very comfortable. The theater was clean as far as not seeing trash on the floor or anything. The sound quality was great and the movie we saw was awesome, the showing we attended was sold out and no one had a issue finding a seat which was good. No complaints from me I like inexpensive. The reason why they can offer such cheap rates is because this place has not been renovated possibly ever and so I guess they pass on the savings to the customer. read more

What a terrible experience. The screen was changed due to a terrible leak in the celling. The next screen was about the size of a large basement theatre. The seats are terrible, the fabric feels like something used to wrap mummies but smells worse. A lawn chair in a parking lot would be more comfortable. Hell...a wooden bleacher would be better. I am 5'10. Should the seat provide some sort of neck support? This is all before the movie has even started. Don't be fooled.. not worth it at any price. read more

If you're looking for a low-cost, low-frill straight to the point, basic theatre then this one is it. Adult prices are $6.50 however they offer $4.50 adult tickets for matinees (before 4pm). I've been to this theatre a few times before. AMC 16 is awkwardly placed inside of North Dekalb mall across from the Marshall's. There's no direct entrance to the theatre from outside so be prepared to do some walking if you choose to park near a mall entrance. On my latest particular visit a major movie had just come out. They did really well at managing the somewhat crowds. **Side note: Usually a great theatre to hit up if you're trying to see a big movie. I think people tend to forget about this location or it's like a last resort." I had purchased tickets online so checked in was smooth sailing. Of course, the theater was still packed but, THANK GOD we managed to get good seats. As the trailers began to play, I noticed that the volume was low. I hoped that this would change once the movie began to play but it did not. Not that I wanted ridiculously loud sound however, the volume could have been up a couple of notches. Especially since the theatre was so crowed. Another issue, it was a bit hot. Again, with large crowds the AC needs to be up some. Did I still enjoy the movie? Yes! I even enjoyed the crowd that was in the theatre that night. However, I'll leave this theatre to movie's that I'm somewhat interested (not major movies/movies I'm excited about watching) in but don't want to drop a lot of money on to see. My first time at this theater was last night with my husband to see John Wick 3. It was late at night. Not being too familiar with the mall area, we drove around for a few minutes to find the main entry to AMC. So damn perplexing. Finally we saw some folks walking out of a door which leads to the main mall. After buying the tickets at the kiosk, we waited quite a while for the clean up crew. Walking in, I was a surprised about not having stadium seating setup. The letters in the aisle are not visible once previews are being played (break out that phone flashlight). Aisles are very narrow too. Folks walking by causing you to stand up or curl your legs in as close as possible. Very uncomfortable. I will say that the prices are great ($7.55 including tax) compared to other AMC locations in the area (side eye to Buckhead for charging $17 plus). read more

Well this was an experience. First of all I would say to you you need to be in shape and your legs strong because your legs are going to stick to the floor and you won't be able to move unless you're in shape. These are the stickiest floors I have ever seen. There was an elderly woman stuck near the concession stand. A larger woman came over to help her and she got stuck too. Secondly, do not, I repeat do not look at your seat as they are stained. The more you look the more you start seeing things. Kind of like looking at clouds except in a gross way. Thirdly either bring a breathing mask or do not breathe deeply. If you also do not like the smell of urine or feces this might not be the place for you read more

So this place gets 5 stars from me because I now know where I can watch a bollywood movie plus they either burn incense or some type of magical stuff but the Indian section (idk how to say it) always smells like roses makes you feel back in the motherland. It also doesn't hurt that it's 3.99 before 4 pm and 5.99 after, like dafuq?! Why would you not go here. The only downside to this is if you're trying to watch an American movie next to an Indian movie you're bound to hear annoying azz bass during each song which is probably going to occur about 5 times during your movie. The power went out and apparently the employees decided that they don't know what to do. There was a young lady screaming at the top of your lungs telling everyone that they needed to get out and get in the guest services line for guest passes. She was screaming at the top of her lungs. Absolutely uncalled for. There's an announcement type yell and a screaming and that was ridiculous. The security guard started off as nice and then caught a serious attitude and told my partner she needed to get in line for her guest pass after she literally waited in the line. She was next up and he tried to tell her she had to go back when I was literally waiting right there the entire time for her to get her pass. Please coach your employees better on how to handle urgent situations because this was definitely not it. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because at least we did get our passes. read more

Today, for Father's Day, my family and I decided to go see Inside Out 2 at AMC Dekalb Plaza near Atlanta, Ga. My family consists of my partner, our 2.5 year old son and myself (who also happens to be 25 weeks pregnant). While there, the entire air conditioning system went down..We chose to go to the movies for Father's Day bc it was in the high 90s outside and we were looking forward to a fun movie in a refreshing environment. The theater was so hot, stuffy and uncomfortable that it was hard to actually focus/watch the movie we had paid for and we regretted our decision to go to this AMC. In addition, the previews started over 20min late and a guest even had to ask staff to fast forward through the previews bc of late start and uncomfortable environment. Unfortunately Fandango was unable to provide us with any sort of refund for the miserable experience. Is there anything AMC can do to compensate? This place is cool! I didn't realize how cheap 1st run movies are here, but for a regular showing (not matinee) the tickets are about $6! Where else in the metro can you find that? I don't know of anywhere else! I will be stopping by with my love from now on! Their snack prices are kind of high though. A large popcorn is $10 while a liter water bottle is $5! :( That's crazy. We got here and walked through a super secret entrance that my husband said must lead to the fight club. Once we made it to our theater, the moment we walked in we were met with STANK (not stink-STANK), Musty, and stuffy. When we left, my husband said that his arm felt greasy from setting it on the arm rest. My daughter said it smelled like a bathroom in the theater. I felt like I needed a shower and in fact before we ate lunch, I went to the restaurant's bathroom (NOT AMC's lol) to THOROUGHLY wash my hands and arms. And yes, I took a shower as soon as I got home. During the movie there were just too many disturbances too. There was one couple who arrived late and made noise and flashed their flash light, another couple who sounded like they jumped into their backpacks and tossed out all the empty, crinkly, plastic water bottles, and plastic bags in search of whatever was in the depths of that backpack, and there also was a lot of chatter. I really couldn't get into the movie like I wanted to. That's what we got for our $18 for 3 of us. Great price but I'd rather just pay more for a better (fresher) experience. read more

I LOVE this theater! Such cheap movies, never too crowded, and little portion cups of jalapenos you can help yourself to go along with the snacks. Honestly I think it being in an abandoned mall is kind of a plus--it's feels like a "best kept secret" of Atlanta and I get endless amusement of all the things in this mall that in no way belong in a mall (Wendy's? Republican headquarters? It's wild). Minus one star because the theater can initially be tough to find, and because once I drove all the way out there for a movie that they weren't showing anymore and had forgotten to take off their website.
