The movie was great, and looked and sounded fantastic in that auditorium. No issues there. However, my seat was difficult to get to recline, and after leaving to use the restroom and return it wouldn't recline again. The controls seemed not to be working. I told one of the guys at the Customer Service counter because I figured they'd want to know so they could fix it. Without even asking for one, he offered me a pass for a free showing due to the issue and thanked me for letting them know which seat it was (I assume people are often less than gracious when they encounter issues like this. It is Boston after all, a place known for level-headed responses to inconveniences...). Major kudos to whomever that was. Why only 3 stars? The common areas are looking a bit worn these days. I assume this location is one of the busier ones in the area though. I've also had them be out of butter for popcorn on a random weekday at like 6pm when it wasn't even busy. I've never had an issue with cleanliness in the auditoriums. The bathrooms can get rough when it's busy, and they could use some updating. The IMAX here is not a full-sized one, but it is still larger than most in multiplexes (it's no Jordan's Reading, but it's much better than the Boston Common AMC) and is 1.85 or 1.90:1. However, unless something is shot for IMAX I would say you should do the Dolby Cinema instead here as it has reclining seats and it's the same aspect ratio, I believe. Overall, very solid local theater that's starting to show wear and tear because it's busy. The theaters are clean, in my experience. However, I was particularly impressed by the staff today.

I'm a member and my husband and I go several times a month to see new releases as well as repertory cinema. They also have events both in the Crystal Ballroom and on the main stage (i.e. the yearly beloved holiday Slutcracker). One thing that I think was new this season is that they've taken to decorating the waiting area for each performance, which I find to be great fun. Refreshments purchased at the concessions stand are allowed into the theater. One thing I notice that they make sure to tell the audience before every show - they love their subscribers. Blocks of seats are saved for their subscribers, and I think that they also get free parking. This theater is an easy walk from the Central Square T, and is located on the same block as Mary Chung's. *** 8/2011 *** With the new season they've changed from open seating to assigned seating. So buy your tickets early for a better selection of seats. The theater gets chilly sometimes, so consider bringing a sweater. *** 10/2012 *** Validation tickets for the University Park @ MIT Garage - 55 Franklin Street are available to all CST patrons at the Will Call Counter for parking after 5pm on weekdays and all day on weekends for a max of 5 hours. It was scheduled to accompany the performance of "Her Aching Heart" as part of their Central Conversations series of discussions and special events. *** 12/2015 *** The fifth and final run of the holiday special "Arabian Nights." See it while you can! This season CST no longer decorated the lobby area specific to each show, but you can still enjoy whiling away the time till the theater doors open, relaxing at one of a number of small tables or checking out the framed photos of past shows hanging on the wall. They sell snacks and drinks that can be taken with you into the theater - I highly recommend the oatmeal cookies. But my beloved cherry soda is no longer available here, as they've changed brands. I loved how they wove together the tales of the Little Match Girl and the Happy Prince in "Matchless & The Happy Prince." I admit it - I got a bit teary eyed at one point. *** 12/2016 *** CST has changed their restrooms to be All Gender shared restrooms as they believe that everyone should have a safe place to use the bathroom. What does that mean? It means anyone can choose to visit either of their previously labeled Men's and Ladies' restrooms. It also means that if will make you feel safe, you may ask a staff member to accompany you to the restroom. What I didn't like was how you could peek in (and out) of the stalls through the gaps around the door - well, no more! They've installed privacy covers which makes your going private from accidental eyes.

When asked why studios not opened, we're told its up to the artists to decide... so fine... get feedback say a week before to know how many will participate??.. if too little participants, then postpone or cancel !!.. Simple management!..Don't waste people's time !!! So, why are you all there in the first place???... MAD AS HELL !.... will NEVER come back!

On a super-wet Saturday, I braved the rain and the wind to see OperaHub's performance of DER ZWERG…read more(The Dwarf) at Plaza Black Box Theatre located at 539 Tremont Street, Boston. OperaHub (http://www.operahub.org/) is dedicated to affordable and accessible performances of opera, and their choice of a performance space at Plaza Black Box Theatre surely led towards the intimacy and up close and personal aspect of their beliefs and commitments. Since it was General Seating, I arrived just over a half hour early to wait for the doors to open and have my pick of seats. The room was wide and relatively narrow - the stage space just a touch larger than the area taken up by the seats (I think I counted 2 sections of 5 rows of 10 chairs) set in stadium fashion to allow for a decent view for all. It was an intimate setting. I could see every actor and actress' facial expressions and moves quite well, and was impressed with the creativity of the show given their self-admittedly small budget. With a ladies' room with 4 toilets and either 3 or 4 sinks, they had an impressive ratio of toilets to possible lady patrons. Tip: If you need to pick up a ticket for a show here, most likely you'll have to stop by the neighboring Calderwood Pavilion's box office. PS - Despite the short flight of stairs in this place, it is handicap accessible. Generally, show tickets for this theatre seem to be available online at http://www.bostontheatrescene.com/index.aspx *** May 2010 visit *** For another show I attended in the Black Box, Farragut North, the stage was set in the center strip of the room with stadium seats set on either side. It was the perfect setting for mingling and discussing the anticipated season.

It's easy for me to get to after getting of the T at Back Bay Station. There are two theaters inside for shows of different sizes. I find the seats quite comfortable to sit in with good legroom. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I've also been a volunteer usher here - you help audience members to their seats and get a free ticket to the show in exchange. It's a pretty sweet deal! They sell a decent selection of concessions inside. There's also a free water foundation by the gender-neutral bathrooms. There are also great restaurants nearby for a pre-show dinner and yummy ice cream next door, too. My favorite place for dinner before is Posto.
