Overall, a good theater. Lots of parking, clear entrance. Barely any wait for tickets, but a _long_ wait for concessions. If you have the AMC app, it's much faster to order your food on the app and then go pick it up on the shelf. Leave lots of time for waiting for concessions. As with most theaters, everything is wicked expensive. I went to a matinee, got a large drink and a Coke, and paid $47 and some change. Ouch. Seating is very comfortable, with lots of leg room. Image and sound were both very sharp. Very pleased. Workers were okay. Not terribly friendly, but not sulky either. So so. Mostly just kids doing a job, not thrilled about it, not bummed about it. All in all a good experience, just expensive and a long wait time for concessions. read more

I was lucky enough to get invited for an advanced screening of Toy Story 5. Tons of parking and staff is friendly. The theater could use a little face lift as its age shows. A few of the stalls were out of order, but it was clearly marked on the door. The seats were comfortable, but not the most comfortable theater seat I've been in. It is nice that they recline though! Of course, pop corn is a must when you're watching a movie. They have a freestyle machine too. My friend I went with ordered mozzarella sticks, and was quite surprised how tasty they were. read more

I was in the IMAX theater last night and an easily preventable problem was it was hot. I remember when theaters used to be freezing, but I was in light weight clothing and a short sleeved t shirt and it was hot. Secondly, while their seats look modern with a seemingly cushy leather partially reclining seat, I was EXTREMELY uncomfortable, to the point I will never come back to this theater. The framework under the padded leather-like covering left my tail bone sore and my lower back was sore. I couldn't recline enough to take the pressure off the lower back and tail bone and upright was no better. and the back support behind my lower back was too firm with no lumbar support. I had to constantly switch from reclining to upright and shift from my left side to right side. Yes, there's plenty of leg room to get around me, and I sure didn't want the heated seats. I get comfier seats and more bang for my buck at the dinner and a movie place near the big chicken, but they don't have the fancy IMAX theaters. Nonetheless, I won't be back. Just great! Comfy seats with heaters , enough separation from the row ahead of us that the people ahead of us weren't distracting at all. Our seats weren't reclining......... Decided to take my youngest girls to a 9:15am showing of Trolls Band Together on January 3rd. They had been sleeping in a lot over the school break and this had them wanting to get out of bed by 8am - which is a great prep for going back to school January 4th! I was easily able to make our seat selections and buy our tickets on the app. Bonus was the 25% discount for the early showing! I showed the QR code and was told which theater. We picked up an Icee from concessions, made a quick bathroom stop (it was clean and fully stocked!) before heading into the theater. The theater was clean. Our seats were super comfy, they reclined and had a heating feature too! The movie was great and we'll be back again this year. read more

This was my second visit at this AMC location and honestly, I've had a great experience! All of the employees were friendly, the theater is very clean and spacious, and the reclining seats are awesome! We sat in theater six and it has heated reclining seats. That was a first for me! So fancy! The movie and sound quality were excellent. The snacks and food were great and the soda (Coca cola freestyle machine) was great. No complaints from me. They're undergoing some renovations in the restrooms and looks like they're almost done building a new bar area (so fun!) so we are excited to see it completed when we return. There's a huge parking lot with tons of parking and the theaters don't ever seem to busy (not complaining!) so we enjoy going to this location and will be back! read more

Not my local AMC but I'll drive the 40 minutes for roomy theater spaces and comfy heated seats. There is a push to keep it clean during busy times. The crew is pretty young but behave professionally. For the grownups there are plenty of libations at the bar. read more

My experience at AMC at Barrett was excellent. First of all the non movie amenities are great. Tasty popcorn, easy ticketing, and a redone bar area which looks great. I'm personally a big lover of IMAX so I love that they just redid their theater with a new and super nice IMAX theater. In my opinion I think we sat as close as comfortably possible in row E, you could probably go to row D as well but you definitely start teetering on the edge of being too close to enjoy the movie. The audio was also great and made it such an immersive experience. I'm so happy that this is the IMAX location closest to me and I will continue going here for all the newest releases that are must see in IMAX. Definitely check out a movie here as it really adds to the viewing experience. read more

This was my first visit at this AMC location. I typically visit Phipps or Cobb parkway location. AMC Barrett is fairly large. Located in a nice plaza with plenty of parking. Overall clean appearance. Easy ticketing process and I very helpful, welcoming very pleasant staff. My only gripe is regarding the bar. There was only one bartender present on day one showing of the Beyonce Renaissance movie. Not sure if they were just short staffed or if that was simply a bad staffing strategy- if so, it was definitely not the ideal move! It took about 15 minutes per guest to get cocktails and longer if they go multiples. Guests were starting to get frustrated. We were in the bar line at 6:40pm and did not get our orders in until 7:22pm. The bartender on duty moved as though he was new, he was very slow in pace. He could have used some help. However I will give the fella props for doing the best he could with what he had. However, had there been more bartenders staffed, it would have ran a lot smoother. My recommendation to the management team would be to ensure they are fully staffed on movie premium weeks. Despite, I'd rate my overall experience as a good one. Just as the other locations the seats recline nicely are very comfortable. Spacious theatres with plenty of seating. Small hiccup, but I would return to this location. read more

AMC Barret Commons is located off Cobb Parkway down from the Target. It's kind of tucked away. There are a few restaurants nearby like Ted's Montana Grill, Chili's, and TGIFridays. With Covid, it is nice to be able to rent an auditorium at the theater to have a small movie night. Many theaters are now offering this to moviegoers. The process is fairly simple and the price varies on the theater. The limit is 20 people per rental. This allows social distancing within the theater. I used the AMC movie app to book my rental for my son's birthday. The app allows you to select the theater, movie, and then provides the times that you can select. Your then prompted to pay and given a QR code when you get to theater. You can check various theaters to see the variation in rental prices. Masks are required in the theater. The young lady at the ticket counter did a great job with this. She provided masks to everyone that left it in the car or just forgot. In the app, it says your party cannot go in until everyone has arrived. This was not the case. They scanned my QR code and let them in. There was another party there as well. They simply provided the name of the party and were told the auditorium number to join. This helps as some ran late. This theater could definitely use some upgrades. It is a bit older. I did sanitize my seat before sitting just to be safe. It has the normal theater food options such as popcorn, candy, Ice, drinks, and etc. The staff at concessions stand were friendly. The negative to this experience was a couple came into our theater. I let them know it was a private rental. They said they had bought tickets. My son's party attendees were up top so I just let it go since the couple was down front. I was irrated that they said they were sold tickets as I thought it was private. They left about 30 minutes into the movie. I guess the guys were too noisy for them. read more

My partner and I went for opening night of Deadpool and Wolverine for a dolby screening. Although we had great seats, snacks were yummy, and the film was great-- it was SO hot! They 100% didn't have on a/c. Multiple people complained, but no change was made for a 2+ hour movie. It's ridiculous to spend that much money to sweat to death. People were sticking to their seats. It made the experience a 1/10, because the entire time all I could think of was getting in some a/c. read more

The theater is clean but the seats don't fully recline so it's awkward and throws your neck forward a bit in an uncomfortable position. Ticket prices are way higher than other theaters around us and those theaters are just as nice. My fault for not noticing the price difference. I don't foresee going back to this theater. read more

I grew up coming here as a kid and returned while visiting Atlanta this past Christmas. I took my mother to see Avatar 2 on Christmas Eve since super cold weather made doing anything outdoors nearly impossible. First of all, the theater was so cold that everyone in our particular auditorium continued to wear their heavy winter coats during the movie. Secondly, a fire alarm came on with 15 minutes left in the movie. The screen went black and a voice came on telling us to evacuate, which we did. I saw (and recorded on video) water running down the windows of the front box office, which I assume came from sprinklers. Once outside we decided to leave since there was no telling when we would be allowed back inside and it was around 10 degrees out. The same day I asked Fandango for a refund and they told me that once a movie starts, you can't be refunded. I called their help number a fee days later and explained the situation. They told me that they would contact the theater to verify a fire alarm took place and then refund me. I got notice today that somehow I am outside of the return window to be refunded. I originally emailed Fandango on Christmas Eve about this and less than one week later is somehow outside of the return window? It was Christmas weekend! I am updating this review to two stars from one since AMC's website helped me obtain 4 ticket vouchers as compensation for my bad experience. I am pleased with AMC's handling of this overall, but still believe you can do better than Barrett Commons. read more

I've lived in the area and have been going to this theater for almost 20 years. It's gone from a great theater to an absolute dump. The restrooms have an overpowering urine smell, and never have ANY toilet paper (so good luck with that). Disgusting. read more

I asked to use my military discount as a veteran. The window clearly says that they offer a veteran discount. They even have a standing sign announcing that. The cashier says it's not available till after 4pm. No where is this indicated. Absolutely no stipulation whatsoever how or when the veteran discount applies. I saw Avengers Endgame on opening day with some friends in the IMAX theater. Tickets were just under $11 each after tax for a matinee showing. The pace was packed with great fans who were really ready to see the latest installment of this great movie franchise. We walked in and went straight to our assigned seats. I love being able to pick my seats before hand and know exactly where we will be sitting. We sat on row G in the center and loved our view of the screen. I really love the leather recliners in my hometown movie theater back in Vestavia, AL but the seats at this theater were still nice and of course there were a lot more seats than are at the theaters with declining seats and having the big crowd for this movie made it a lot of fun. Great experience. I would love to do it again. read more

I remember coming here in middle school... it was a lot nicer then. I brought my 4 and 12 year old here to see Frozen 2 and I held my breath the entire movie because auditorium 11 smelled horrible. They need to reupholster or replace the seating and clean the floor because it reeked of trash and stale food. So while visiting Kennesaw for the holidays, I decided to finally see Wakanda Forever on Christmas. I checked the website which said it's temporarily closed, so I called the theater to verify whether they were open or not. I spoke to one of the most helpful young men named Darion, and he explained the current situation and asked me to check back in a hour for an update. He went above and beyond to find theater times for me, since the website was down and was just really pleasant and professional! As a regular movie viewer, I always hate to give theaters low ratings as I try to still support them. That said, this is the most uncomfortable theater I've been to - even compared to the historical AMC in DC built decades ago. I know, I don't get it either. The theater doesn't show on all of its screens, has somewhat odd times, is understaffed, is dirty, and has broken seats. I've never been without having a sticky floor or seat. And for some odd reason, all the seats are uncomfortable. Hopefully they will finally invest in nicer theaters. In the meantime, I canceled my monthly A-List Stubs membership because this theater is just that uncomfortable to visit. It is too bad, the few staff they have are pleasant. read more

When you do come up to the front, you have to pick your seat as well. Shouldn't take this long at all. Finally in the theater and you can tell it was not cleaned out. We've been going to this AMC for 10 years and it just gets worse and worse. We're A-List members so we see a lot of movies each month and we didn't realize just how bad it was until we went to a movie with friends at the Cherokee 16 Regal theater in Woodstock. We took into account that the pandemic really took a toll on movie theaters but last Saturday we went to see Elvis and a cockroach crawled on me during the movie! That was it for me. On top of being filthy, the seats are old, worn, and extremely uncomfortable. There is never any toilet paper in 90% of the stalls. More than half the automatic sinks in the bathrooms are broken and have been broken for years. The bathrooms are a disgrace. I really hope they put some money back into this place because it's falling apart. We just canceled our A-list membership at AMC and we're joining the Regal Unlimited membership until AMC renovates. read more

The seats are old, grimy with hand grease, and absolutely uncomfortable. Broken arm rests, huge gap where there should be lumbar support. Reallly uncomfortable. Get new seats!!! Get some of those reclining ones too and maybe you would do some more business. Also, if you come in on a Saturday afternoon, there will be 7 employees (who don't give a ) standing around talking to one another, but none of them are at the entrance to check your ticket.
