This is the Nastiest movie theater I have ever seen. Theater 12 smelled of garbage and urine, it actually started smelling in the hallway leading down to theater 12. I asked to go into another movie theater, to see a movie I didn't even want to see, because we were already here. Chairs are broken, old, some torn, and dirty. Someone I was with brought food, Im diabetic and wouldn't even eat it stale popcorn. If the theater as a whole looks dirty, I know you're not cleaning the soda machines or the popcorn area. The two best things about the AMC theater at Assembly Row is the parking garage connected to it and it's right off of Rt 93. Having it located in the Assembly Row shopping area is a nice plus too. The layout has the actual movie theater and a small concession area on the second floor. They changed the concessions to more self service, I'm assuming due to the labor shortage. I've been to many movies here given it's convenient location in relation to East Boston (when the Sumner Tunnel is open). The theaters are generally clean. No sticky floors or leftover popcorn. I've found this AMC to be less busy than the AMC Boston Common and will tend to go here on an opening weekend. read more

My friends that I have come to this theater a handful of times. Before, there used to be a lot more activity, which meant fresh popcorn. The last couple times I have gone, the popcorn is relatively stale. Snack options were also more limited. Chairs are incredibly comfortable and staff has been typically friendly. Street parking can be tough but there's always the big parking lot nearby. Will end up coming back when the time is right. read more

BATHROOMS ARE SO NASTY- sinks and soap dispensers were broken, toilets didn't flush, pee stains everywhere, dirty stalls in general... clearly had not been cleaned for a while. It was very noticeable when exiting the women's bathrooms that they had not been cleaned for a while and a lot of women were disgusted by this as well lol especially during the end of the movie. Out of Focus!!! Their Premium Dolby theater is extremely out of focus and distracting. Its crazy they can charge $22+ for a screen that is literally worse then any screen I've ever seen. The center of screen is bad and the edges are terrible. There is this ghosting affect where everything shows up twice as if its supposed to be a 3D movie but its not. Loved that the parking garage was right beside (probably connected) to the theater and only cost me $3. Out of all the AMC locations I have been to, this was the most clean and well presented. I liked the bright red lights indicating the theater room. Have yet to try their bar, but will some day. Instead of popcorn, opted for nachos and a large soda. Plenty of tostitos, but the cheese was on the heater for so long, I could've drank the cheese, too liquidy. The seats didn't recline either, so that was weirdly nostalgic. read more

I love this location solely because of the free parking & shopping/restaurants in the area. The theatre itself has been clean & comfy every time we've gone. I took off one star because it has been extremely loud/disruptive the past few times we've gone (kids running in & out of theatres, people talking the entire time, adults on their phones, etc.). We've seen employees try to handle the disruptions with not much luck. I recommend avoiding evenings (especially on weekends). read more

This AMC could be described as middle of the road. It did not seem like the concession stands were very active or large, unsure if they had a bar. The movie and experience in the theater itself was fantastic, however seats with the reclining buttons would be an improvement versus the weight driven recliner to get in the right position for 1-3 hour movies. The seats were vert spacious and it seems like everyone got 2 cup holders which is great for snacks and your drinks. read more

I always enjoy being able to pick my own seats for the movies and avoiding being stuck in seats too far back or too close up. The seats are the nice leather ones but they aren't as comfortable as I like. They also don't recline like many AMC ones do. It is nice to have the middle cup holder console rise to give more space but many are wobbly and just rugged looking. I'll only come back to this place on a Tuesday when tickets are way cheaper. It's not worth full price because the ambiance is so-so and it was so cold in the theater. read more

Came here to watch Avatar 2 in Dolby 3D. Assembly Row has tons of parking options available, so it makes it pretty convenient to get to. This is an ideal location and the staff is friendly. However, the location itself doesn't offer many good food options. Yes, there is a huge candy selection. But, they didn't even have jalapeños for nacho lovers. The theater itself was ok - seats were in decent condition, but I didn't like how there was only one functioning exit...it made it awkward to have tons of people crawling over us during the movie. Overall, the theater is ok, but major work should be done to revamp their menu options. read more

I've only been in one of the theaters at this location, so I'm not sure if this is an issue in any other one. I went to a movie in theater 4 and was disappointed. I understand the bright red exit signs are mandatory, however the placement and brightness with no consideration to block the light from the screen really spoils the picture. The bottom third to half of the screen has a red or pink cast to it which is incredibly distracting and detracting from the film. I imagine this has been a problem ever since this theater was opened years ago, yet nothing has been done about it. The only reason I didn't get a refund is because I am subscribed to the monthly membership, but if I wasn't I'd definitely ask for a refund. In addition, the image was fuzzy/out of focus. It sort of looked like there was a slight doubling of the image as you looked away from the middle of the screen. This wouldn't be a print issue, but a projection problem. Why aren't professional projectionists working here? One would think with such a massive company like AMC they could afford them. In 2022 alone their profits exceeded $46,000,000. This place is gross. I remember when it first opened, what it is now isn't even a fraction of that experience. The facility is humid, hot, without any air conditioning at all. The lines continue to be long and suffocating. But the worse part? The seats are ripped, the floors are stained permanently, the bathrooms are repulsive. Nothing is updated or maintained. This is our go-to movie theater and all of our experiences there have been awesome. I must say though, their regular seats, although roomy, are wildly uncomfortable. Usually my boyfriend and I pay extra for the reclining seats on the side, but last night we went to see Joker with two other friends, and my back was hurting in those regular seats. Also, the bathrooms are HEINOUS. I don't think i've ever seen them clean. There's always toilet paper everywhere and lots of the stalls don't have toilet paper period. That being said, everything else is really nice. There's free parking in the Assembly Row lot for up to 3 hours, and they have a bar too. read more

I truly cannot believe how terrible this place is. I must be a masochist because I keep going there but now I'm absolutely done. Pre-COVID they had some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced but somehow it's worse now. Details: 1. It's a confusing layout with confusing rules about how to buy food and how to enter. One of the only things that made it more convenient is the walkway from the 3rd floor of the parking lot, which they've closed... I guess for covid? Which doesn't make sense since that action in no way would make them safer. 2. I get that they're out of all kinds of product (I know many businesses are facing this), but have some level of kindness or empathy for the situation. Rude, rude, rude. 3. It. Is. FILTHY. The bathrooms are as filthy as porta potties and the theater itself looks like it hasn't been cleaned in ages. Definitely the grossest experience I've had since COVID. My first time back since the pandemic and being on A List. The theater I was in was so dilapidated it made me sad. The chair divider in front of me was broken and hitting my legs. Guest services was going to move me to the side reclining chairs but they had already moved people there for other broken seats. Had to be moved to the handicap seats. read more

Location is nice. Lovely area seemed like it was in its own little town. Parking lots available but I'm not sure on pricing of that. I parked on the street with meters, but since it was a weekend (Saturday) meter was free. Theatre is located next door to lego land. You will see a large lego giraffe out front. Inside is about three floors with escalators. The pricing is a bit more expensive to what I'm use to paying (I'm from Philadelphia). Also seats were a major disappointment! They rocked a tad but didn't recline which I'm also use to in a AMC theatre. The side seats did I seen but it was too late my seats were already picked. If I do return major if they will need to do a bit of remodeling. read more

I'm giving you 4 stars AMC Assembly Row for many reasons, but for the non reclining seats in all but the first 3 rows of at least theater 8, where we had a stellar screen experience but could not decline, I would give you a 3. What the heck ?? And who In the world is going to be able to see in the first and second if not also the 3rd row with a screen that large and high up ?? You know what they should do ?? Make the designer of this configuration sit in row one and have their eye lids retracted like in " A Clockwork Orange" and be forced to watch a 3 hour movie plus the 25 minutes of coming attractions. This movie theater is pretty different from a lot of other movie theaters you will have probably have encountered in the past. For the concession stand, it's more of a market area(think cafeteria like, with all the different stations). Once you have picked your items, you go to a register to pay. There was a bar on the side where it looked like you could also take your drink in with you. The plush seating is really what sold it to me. For once you'll feel like you have ample space between people. When you first buy the tickets, you can reserve where you can sit. The side seating reclines while the middle rows do not. Still, these seats are mega comfortable. It was literally like sitting on a big comfy lazy boy. I envy those recliner seats though . . . . Note to self - reserve side seats. read more

Just opened with that still-new smell! Power, reclining, leather seats! Free parking garage! You'd think I'd be so impressed that I'd be whining to Yelp to add a sixth star to a place like this. I wish that were the case.... Why did they follow the same exact format of the Boston Commons theatre? Get your tickets downstairs and proceed up not one but two escalators to get to your flick. There is likely some rhyme or reason to the design but I just don't like it. It's understandable in an urban setting that can only build up, not a brand new building where there was ample space to purchase prior to it opening. Once your'e upstairs, you are processed like cattle in a fairly long line. It was nice to see a bar waiting for me at the top of the escalator and $8+ for a 32 oz. beer isn't all that bad. Oh, what? You ran out of my favorite, go-to beer, Yuengling? Blah. I raced from work to make a 7:00 show and was looking forward to eating at the movies, even if it is crappy fried food. Oh, what? The fryers aren't working AND you don't have nachos available? Well then, let me just make popcorn my dinner tonight, sigh. And then on top of all of that, is it possible to make the food ordering process any more complicated? You can apparently grab your own popcorn and then try to figure out on your own where it is paid for. I'm surprised they don't have a ton of theft here as you can pretty much just walk out of the area with food in your hands without paying. You can't blame me for being grumpy by this point but thankfully the theatre setup does make up for the food debacle. We were early enough to grab the coveted seats on the sides that fully recline and are made of red leather. They do exist down front but I have never liked craning my neck up that much to watch a movie, at least it is a reason to want to sit down in front now. It's nice that you feel like you have the entire place to yourself in these seats, they are very private and have plenty of room for anyone's needs. So they clearly still have some work to do and kinks that need to be fixed. It also needs to be mentioned that 3-D movies here are now going for the inflated price of $16.50 pp. Caveat emptor if you can put up with few food options and beers out of stock for that price just for admission. read more

Trying to decide between here and another theater? Do yourself a favor and see a movie elsewhere because this place is foul. The women's bathrooms here are horrendous and the service doesn't make up for it. Before movie: the first toilets in the bathrooms were either clogged and bloody, brown with stale piss, or flooded with paper. Ok fine, things happen. But I reported this before my movie and thought things would be better an hour and a half after. After movie, I'm in a stall and there's a GAPING HOLE between my stall and the stall next to me, where the toilet paper lives. I'm talking a 5" x 9" hole between two stalls. My neighbor audibly gasps about the state of her stall and says something about there not being TP, I pass her TP through the hole. What. The. Fuck. $20 to see a movie and use the most disgusting bathrooms I've seen in ages. I reported the bathrooms before the movie to an employee, they said they'd address its Afterwards, I talked to a manager. I told them about what happened before and after the movie, and they said "we're working on it." ... that's it. I said I'm dissatisfied with paying $20 for a bathroom nightmare, I paid $36 for two double vodkas, we bought a popcorn and a soda, and the manager offered me nothing for my repeated extreme inconvenience. As I've said already, if you can avoid it, don't come here. The bathrooms are a nightmare and the management is worse, and all for a pretty penny. My boyfriend is a Stubs member but moving forward I'll be avoiding the expensive cesspit that is AMC Assembly as best I can. read more

Finally made my way out here for the first time the other day! At $13/ticket, i think the experience was pretty great. I loved the plush comfy chairs and then fact that you could pick your seat in advance and then show up during the previews while inflicting minimal annoyance on the people around you. I also appreciate that this theater doesn't do service during the movie, so there are no distracting iPad screens or chitchat. Docking a star due to bathroom conditions. It's only been a few months and already some of the stalls are destroyed. (yeah, that's someone's leg in the stall next to mine where some delinquant decided to take their aggression out on the TP dispenser). read more

Staff were friendly but the quality of the seats were apocryphal. My arm rest was broken and my wife's chair had the bottom cover missing. If you're seeing a big blockbuster movie and it's not playing at a smaller theater elsewhere, then I suppose this is an option that must be suffered. But the parking and shopping environment that exists around this theater is really rather atrocious. I mean, it's surrounded by outlet stores, and that's a very specific breed of consumerism that I can't stomach. As for the theater itself, it's about what I'd expect from an AMC in terms of crowds, quality, and amenities. I do really enjoy the reserved seating (unfortunately many theaters in the area don't do this), but not enough that I'd go out of my way to visit this theater. read more

This theater has really fallen on dark times. When it first opened, it was top of its class, but its gone downhill significantly. It all starts with the clusterf*ck that is the garage, with its one access point. Then, in general, its simply overrun with people and not a pleasant experience. The popcorn is always cold, and somehow the soda machines are consistently out of half their offerings. You have to either walk the stairs down or wait for an elevator, just to have to take 3 escalators back up when you walk in from main entrance on ground level. (This may be from the local Somerville City so not 100% blame on AMC) 2. There appeared to be only 5 people working. No one asking to assist or moving like they cared about their job. 3. Could not pre-order refreshments on the app, the other locations in the area you could. 4. Only about 7 under filled bags of popcorn available when getting refreshments. 5. Soda machines were filthy clearly not cleaned in a while and had almost either no syrup or carbonation in them. 6. Theater 5 was NOT cleaned prior to this showing, or maybe even prior to the previous. Crumbs and papers in seats. 7. When trailers started they were loud, when movie started it could barely be heard. One of my 4 party members went all the way up front just to hear dialogue, the music and effects were barely audible. To sum up, the experience was horrible. It changed my view of ever going to an AMC again if not to a movie theater again ever! read more

The toilets are disgusting. Downgrading to 3 stars. I've been here several times and the toilet situation is BAD. Why does this matter? You usually go to the bathroom before or after a long movie, so lots of people go! And the toilets are disgusting. There is always toilet paper all over the floor, all over the toilet bowl. I came here with my wife this past weekend and we watched Howls Moving Castle by Fathom events; we were watching re-runs of commercials for the first 30 minutes. What a waste of time. Seems like they're desperate and are milking their commercial time to make money because AMC franchises are struggling. Commercials aside, the theatre has really gone downhill. We got to our seats and there was a booger farm on the wall next to us. Moved to open seats and there was trash dried and stuck inside the cup holder.
