I absolutely am in love with this gym and the staff. I had an amazing first experience coming here! I was taken care of right away and everyone is very friendly. My personal trainer, Jay Gonzalez, is Thee man and i highly recommend him. He makes working out very enjoyable and personally to me, it's much easier to laugh and smile through the pain. He pushes me past my limits and challenges me which is exactly what i need! I am very thankful to have him as my trainer. If i were you, I'd start getting to work with him right away!! read more

For an awesome personal trainer, contact Carl at Self Made Training Facility. I followed him from his previous gym because he's the best. As a senior, I need someone who will work with me to stay healthy and strong. He listens and designs programs and goals that you can attain. The gym has a variety of equipment that is well-maintained and clean. It is only open to the trainers and their clients. I highly recommend it. read more

The owners and trainers of this facility need to work on better business practices. There are not enough parking spaces at their facility so they tell their clients and trainers to park across the street WHERE THEY WILL GET TOWED if they park there. Do not join this gym if you want convenient and legal access to parking before your session. Also don't park across the street... you WILL GET TOWED. read more

Self Made is state of the art and serious fitness facility. After one week, I can already say that I'm looking forward to training here more often. Alfredo Castro (FREDOS FITNESS) is a Great Trainer, he keep's pushing all the way through your session and at the end still want's more, I like this kind of training. The facility is amazing from the equipment to wait time for equipment use, not like the other gym's around. I can't wait to see my results. I recommend Self Made and Alfredo Castro. read more

I recently started working out at Self Made and can't say enough about my trainer Tabe! I've never met a trainer that cares so much about his clients and wants to help you reach your goals! His workouts are the best; challenging and hard but results driven. I really like how he checks to make sure your form is always correct as well. I go to his group classes 2-3 times a week conveniently in the later evening hours and he provides me with workouts I can do at home on the days I don't see him. I love how helps me stay motivated through my fitness journey and he even includes a stretching sesh at the end of the workout! I have seen a HUGE change already in my body and how toned I am in only a few weeks. Thank you for keeping me accountable. So happy I met Tabe!!! Anyone ready to get serious find him at Self Made :) read more

Pari is amazing!!! I took Pari's class here a couple weeks ago and it was honestly the most fun I've had at a bootcamp! The workout was definitely challenging but she assisted along the way, and really helped everyone learn the exercises. I loved that the moves were creative, not just typical squats and lunges. I was sore for a few days after, which I loved because I knew the workout was effective. On top of that, Pari has a great energy and you never feel judged in her class! I 100% recommend Pari if you're looking for a fun and effective way to get in shape! read more

I'd never boxed before until I started training with Jonny Brown. Been 5 months and I've been having a blast! He works you like crazy and is really supportive of your time and schedule. Johnny is an awesome boxing coach. He motivates you to be your best you! He pushes you to do things you didn't think you can do, while teaching you boxing skills. Love his workouts...wouldn't want to train with anyone else! Check him out! read more

I first signed up with Jonny because I saw he was offering two free sessions so I figured why not. I immediately got hooked! This isn't your typical overpriced gym where you just hit a punching bag and call it a day. You get a full body workout, hit the bags, you get one on ones with the mits, and the combos get more challenging and even more fun as you progress. Prices are affordable and Jonny has a variety of class/private sessions to accommodate your budget. For the first time I can say that I look forward to my workouts thanks to JB. I highly recommend trying out a session! read more

I was recommended by a friend to try this new gym as a well as a personal trainer she was familiar with. I was extremely hesitant since I worked with a personal trainer in the past who I found lackadaisical and didn't get the results I anticipated. After viewing the website and the personal trainer, Quinton "Q," I decided to give it a try. I haven't been doing the program for a while but I well pleased so far. The gym itself looks very nice, clean, and plays good music to work out to. My personal trainer Q has been nothing short of amazing!! He is a trainer that cares enough to have his clients reach their goals. He encourages me in and out the gym making sure I do the required exercises and adhere to the recommended meal plans. Five stars hands down read more

Self Made is hands down the best facility I've ever been to. They have tons of great equipment, a great layout and the trainers are committed and passionate. Erica is an amazing trainer! 6/10/19 So it's been 3 months and I never received a refund from JB. The last time I reached out to him was 4/25 and all he did was like the message I had sent with my Venmo account. After posting my review JB reached out saying how I had gone too far... Nope! You scamming people is what's really too much and not okay! JB texted "I need you to take that off after I refund you." I could have updated this review saying how he had at least done the right thing by refunding me $180 but instead he was trying to bribe me. Nah, I'm not selling my honest review to makeup for your lack of professionalism. read more

I HIGHLY recommend Chris Monje! He's a great trainer who will listen to your fitness goals and know exactly how to motivate you and push you to get there. During moments when I felt that I couldn't push through the last set of my workout, he was there to support me and encourage me to pull through. It is truly important to find a trainer who not only knows about the equipment but the science of your body. He is also very educated and knowledgeable about diet and supplements, which is great! It's so good to know that I have an awesome trainer at an amazing, clean gym facility! read more

Not only is the gym always clean, it is a upbeat and positive environment. All the trainers are so nice and there is always great music playing. Niki is an awesome trainer! I was nervous at first but Niki made me immediately feel comfortable. I have been training with Niki for a little over a month and I have already notices some fat loss and muscle gain . The vibe in the facility was very chill everyone was there to get their work out in which I liked compared to other gyms. Equipment was very high quality and clean! Unfortunately, my training here has ended on a bad note with one of the trainers and I'm actually pretty pissed about it... he ended my group boxing classes one month before my 3 months was up because he said he didn't have enough people for the class. I was understanding about it and told him okay that's fine as long as he sends my refund for the last month and he informed me he couldn't get it to me until the end of the month... in my opinion if you're running a business correctly I would have forwarded the cash back immediately after informing the client that there were going to be no more classes... but he seems to think it's okay to just keep my money and for me to not get what I paid for... it's now been a month and I've yet to receive my money back. Makes me feel like this isn't a very professional environment and you might get screwed over by these trainers here. Will NOT be coming back to this gym! I run a business of my own and would never treat my clients the way the trainers here treat their clients.. Also tried contacting the owner multiple times and got no response, so clearly they don't care about their clients here... read more

I was introduced to Liz at Self Made Fitness through a friend. I was simply looking to stay fit and continue to tone up a bit. I was shocked to find after only 3 weeks I lost 4lbs and 4% body fat. My results have far outweighed my expectations. Liz gave me a meal plan with lots of variety and I'm certainly not starving myself at 1,600 calories per day. She pushes me at each session and also has boot camp on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. There is also an app through the gym where she gives me routines to do at home and tracks my diet. This girl must never sleep with all of the effort she puts in with her clients! Check out her IG @liz_sinphit and get her training you! read more

I am one of the personal trainers here at Self Made Training Facility. I have been in the fitness industry for just under 5 years working with training individuals to get ready for sporting events, military preparation ( I am a United States Marine Corps Veteran), body building coach primarily men's physique/classic, woman's bikini/figure, I have had success with massive weight loss 115+ pounds for 9 clients, I work with the first responder teams, agility training, get cosplayers ready to become like their hero/anti-hero, or villain and of course your beach-body-feel-good-better-than-ever clients and I've worked for quite a few gyms but never found a home for me or my clients/athletes until I found Self Made. The vibe from the door to the back of the gym is motivating and just makes you want to start working out on the spot. I can say with all honesty that I have found my home for me and my athletes here at Self Made. I could not be happier to be where I'm at today; with the help of some of my fellow trainers and thanks to the people who run it: Miguel, Dean, and Charlene not only am I happy to be working here but they give the tools I need to really help my clients and make a real impact in their life. I am now able to reach out and help so much more people than I could have ever thought. Thank you, Miguel, for the opportunity to work with you and be a part of the Self Made Family. Whether you're looking for a trainer or looking for a new home for you and your clients I recommend coming to Self Made Training Costa Mesa. Come by and see why champions are made at Self Made. read more

To be honest before I came to the Self Made Training Facility I was pretty skeptical about actually getting my body into better shape, I really didn't think anyone could help push me into being better and stronger like I wanted! One of the trainers named Martin W. really changed that! He gave me some great advice and told me what to do to get into better shape and lead a healthier life style! I'm very grateful for him for helping me like that, and I highly recommend coming to this place! It really can change your life! read more

I absolutely love being a part of this gym. I am not a newbie to working out, but I have been training with Paul Navarette for a couple months now and he has helped me to continue achieving my goals as well as continue learning different workouts and techniques to keep crushing those annoying plateaus. I am so happy with my progress and with my results and I am excited and motivated to continue on my fitness journey with Paul and the Self Made Training facility. If you are looking for a trainer or even just a gym, I highly recommend joining here. They are a one stop shop for everything you need: meal plans, online training, in person one on one and or group training, and any questions and/or advice. They even have the tools to give you accurate reads to check and track your progress, which I LOVE! Its super flexible and there's no pressure, but I guarantee once you join, you will not want to leave. read more

This training facility is the absolute best. Everyone here is super friendly and welcoming. I train with Evan Nelson and I love that he tailors workouts and meal plans to my specific goals and needs. I broke my left patella 2 years ago and tore a few tendons. I've never been the same since, even after physical therapy. Before beginning my training I explained to him the history of my knee injury. I was terrified of doing a simple lunge because my leg was so shaky. After just a month of training with him I was shocked as to what workouts I could do with my "stanky" leg because I've lacked strength and confidence for so long. His training methods will push you beyond what you thought you were capable of. Don't limit yourself, training with Evan will forever change your workout routine. read more

Just started my 3rd week training here with Liz (@liz_sinphit) and already feel 100% better (mentally and physically) than when I started! I had lost my drive to work out and Liz has really helped me get back into the groove. Her weekly classes are a great workout and her one-on-one training helps focus on key areas. Going to a specialized gym can be a bit intimidating but everyone here is friendly and there is no feeling of being "judged" that other gyms might have. Looking forward to many more workouts and watching my body transform thanks to Liz!! read more

Ok so I've never stepped foot in a gym in my life so I was obviously terrified to actually go and check it out, a very good friend of mine recommended taking a tour with Alfredo Castro to see if it would be something I'd be interested in, Im so happy I decided to take that step and acutally go in and sign up. Everyone that I have encountered there has been very down to earth & I feel absolutely no judgement when I walk in the door or while I'm gettin my workout on...this place is very clean, and I loved the fact that the owner came up and introduced himself & just made it seem like I was in the right place for what I'm looking to accomplish. For many years I struggled with motivation and lacked the knowledge to start my fitness journey. I always felt that the goal was too far away, so why bother starting. Even if I did decided to be motivaded, I lacked the knowledge to really make an impact. I would try different gyms across orange county, but would lose a couple pounds after lots of hard work only to gain them back with a week of not going. It was difficult to stay motivated when results were difficult to come by. Fast forward to 2 months ago, after looking at different personal trainers in my area, I found Erica on Instagram "airwrecka_fit" and loved the energy and passion she provided to her clients. I was intimated to start since Ive never lifted weights, and was nervous about looking buff instead of feminine. The first few weeks were difficult, as your body reacts to being pushed, but Erica helps keep you both motivated and safe. Erica provided me with the nutritional knowledge I always lacked, and with a combination of fun energetic workouts, I am happy to say, I can now see results. Although I am far from the goals I have set for myself. I'm more motivated than ever knowing I have the best Trainer/Friend that doesn't just train me and moves on. She continues to check on my progress even on days we aren't training. Erica is very professional and never on her cell phone texting while we are in session. If you are intimidated or unsure if personal training is for you, give Erica a try and you'll be surprised at her coaching techniques. Thank you Erica! read more

I finally found a gym that I look forward to go to, especially after long days at work. Training with Jay has been such a pleasure. I'm really happy with the progress that I'm making with him as my trainer! One thing I really admire about him is that he takes time out of his day to check up on me on how my body is feeling and gives advice even when I'm not working out with him. Another great thing about him is that he understands that I'm a normal human being and I like food lol so he definitely works with me. Overall, the gym is great (the music - they play all the jams! Haha), and Jay is awesome! read more

Glad to say I've found a trainer that meets all my expectations. The gym is very clean and easy to find. I'm very excited to start my fitness journey. read more
