I've had manis and pedis done by many technicians over the years, but then I found Tina! Ok guys, I was getting gel manicures, but my nails weren't all the same as far as width and curve. Tina suggested doing one thin coat of acrylic before the gel polish. She has a technique where my nails now have a slight curve so they aren't flat like most natural nails are without some help. I got the basic mani/ pedi combo for $31, though they tried hard to upsell me the additional upgrades. Two ladies worked on me at once. Both were really gentle and I was happy with the grooming service. The lady working on my feet did a great polish job, but the other one... she put an excess of polish on and without a dryer it couldn't dry properly. Even after waiting an hour the polish was smudging and I knew it wasn't going to hold up. Sure enough it was completely chipping after two days. I didn't get gel, granted, but I've never had this issue before on the first day. If I actually want painted nails, I will have skip this place in the future. read more

This review is only for waxing. Parking: Spacious, free, public parking lot. Before stopping in Daiso and Tokyo Central Market, I saw this nail salon, and was in desperate need of waxing half of my legs: $25.00. Luckily, by 4pm, the salon was semi busy, and they were able to take me in, yay! I was greeted by one of the nail techs, and she got the salon's receptionist to come over, and lead me back to their waxing room. About 5mins later, Sophia came in and got down to business. She apologized, hoping that I didn't had to wait too long, and she was a sweet gal. First, she rubbed on some sanitizer on my legs (had a cooling and slight tingling sensation). Next, she applied wax into my legs, and stripped off every hair, while gently maneuvering my legs to different angles as needed. Once she was done with the front and back sides, she then checked my legs to make sure there was no sticky wax residue was left behind, and then rubbed some baby oil, and we were done! The whole process took about 20mins, and my legs are silk and smooth again, yay! :) Ambience/Decor: Clean and spacious space. Nicely decorated for the holidays. The Vietnamese nail techs, of course, chatting with either their clients or with each other. I was even given a stamp card to come back here again. Had I not trimmed my nails and toe nails, I would have definitely made it a beauty day. Overall, I was pleased with Sophia and her waxing skills. Well at this point it's my fault. This has to be the worst manicure I've EVER received in my life at this point. The pedicure wasn't great either and my big toe nail was cut completely crooked on both sides giving it the illusion that my left big toe was growing left and my right big toe growing to the right. Lmao i don't even know how to explain it and i had to cut them myself just to make them look normal. I had to clean them up quite a bit too because there was polish all over the skin around my nails :( and some parts of my toe nails the paint had no paint. My finger nails on the other hand look SO SLOPPY. Ugh i hate that both ladies were so sweet too but I have to go back later to get almost every nail redone. I had my nails previously done here in a light blue (it's sad that my grown out blue nails look way better then these new orange nails btw -_-). You can see the blue still on a couple of the nails, the pain job on some of the nails is all the way to my cuticle (right on my cuticle on a few and even I know you're supposed to leave a 1-2mm gap to prevent premature lifting), the paint job by the cuticle is absolutely messy in general, on a couple the paint is not covering the whole nail (looks like something I'd do on myself at home because i can't see one side of my nail or something), there's weird bubbles of polish on certain parts of the nails, etc etc. On top of it all she never actually did a proper manicure. She sanded down the blue polish, did the foil/acetone to loosen up the gel, scraped it off, buffed my nail a bit, soaked them.. asked me about my nail shape and i said i wanted to keep them oval.. my nails are oval shaped from my last manicure BUT they have grown out quite a bit and this was the first time that someone didn't try to clean up the shape. She barely filed the nail in general, rubbed some cuticle oil and called it a day and then immediately went to prepping them to be painted. There was no pushing the cuticle back.. no trimming the cuticle.. like my nails even look crusty around the actual paint job because again.. couple of basic manicure steps were skipped. I got the hand massage though lol. Mind you from the angle I'm at I was like okay these don't look awful but they don't look how they normally do. And she kept swiping her hand over mine saying my nails were so pretty but i would catch her looking pretty intensely at my nails too so i don't know if she saw it and tried to play it off and kept doing that with my hands so i wouldn't see them in that moment but afterwards she went to the back room. My immediate attention went to one nail that was maybe 3 quarters of the way painted. IT WAS TOOOOO OBVIOUS so i didn't pay as much attention to the others in that moment (besides a quick glance if the other looked like this one) and she didn't come back out so i asked the girl who did my pedicure to fix it. Once i got to my car that's when i saw how badly they all actually looked. Sadly, not a single nail actually looks nice. I will be calling them to tell them I'm coming in later and they all need to be fixed so depending on how that goes will determine if i will change how many stars I'm giving the shop. I have an event on Saturday and so many things to do so the fact i have to go back is pretty upsetting and beyond inconvenient. read more

Amazing Nail Spa really is amazing. I found them on Yelp and everyone mentioned Kelly being the best at gel manicures. I called today on a Monday to make an appointment for 10:30 with Kelly. Luckily she had that time available even though I called less than an hour before. They are located in a huge plaza right on the corner of Sepulveda Blvd and Hawthorne Blvd. There is plenty of parking, and even have an extra back parking lot. I walked in and there was only one other customer besides me. The salon is HUGE and very spacious. They have tons of spa chairs and the salon was nicely set up. Kelly waved me over to come to her station, and the entire time she had a smile on her face. She was very sweet and accommodating. I showed her a simple design I found on Instagram and she said she'd be able to do it! My whole experience took around an hour 15 minutes. I truly appreciate when a nail technician takes their time and pays attention to the fine details. I am a nail technician myself, and I'm VERY picky and precise. It's hard to find nail technicians who care more about their clients than about money, and Kelly is definitely one of them. The gel manicure is normally $27 and the design was only $8. I was shocked at how cheap it was, especially for how much time she spent drawing the little ghosts and she even painted 3 layers of the gel for me because I asked. One more thing I really like about this salon is they don't talk shit about their customers. I am Vietnamese, I can understand and speak it fluently. They didn't know that I was Viet, and I did not hear any of them say a single word about me or any of the customers.
