The Skin Bar is a little slice of heaven nestled in Brentwood, TN…read more I visited today for an oxygen facial with the very beautiful and talented, Mckensie. The customer service here was top notch! Very kind & attentive staff and the environment is super cozy. Facials are a regular indulgence for me but I have to say, this was by far the best one I've ever had! The treatment I received was very relaxing (even through extractions!) and included a peaceful shoulder and hand massage that came as a pleasant surprise! You can tell that McKensie really takes pride in what she does, it honestly felt like I had been a client of hers forever! I left feeling rejuvenated & am looking forward to returning again soon! The owner was also in the spa & was extremely sweet & knowledgeable.

I'm still new to this area, and found myself wandering in circles when my GPS died. I was getting hangry, and since it was almost lunch time, I figured I would stop in to the Perch for coffee and a crepe. Lunch was very tasty, and after I was finished I realized that the Skinbar and the Perch were connected. I started browsing the adorable little boutique filled with fancy skin creams and cute clothing, and a lovely woman named Danielle mentioned that she had an opening for a facial. Perfect timing! Danielle suggested the exact services that would benefit my skin, and customized the session to my needs. What exact services? I couldn't tell you because I was so chilled out I fell asleep halfway through. All I know is, when I woke up, my skin was gorgeous. I am a big fan of the Skinbar, and will be back to let Danielle work her magic soon!

" LOL Let me start this review off by saying that one's experience and spa, at any point... Should never feel rushed or make one on edge. It is taking me a long time to post this review, because I like to believe the best in people. I want to think that she was having a bad day... But I feel an obligation to let clients know what they're getting into. NOTE: I was going to send this in an email to the former owner, Lisa but unfortunately the spa is *SHOCKINGLY* under new ownership now. (I visited the salon on my last trip to TN last July.) Emmy started the facial at 12:48 and ended the facial at 1:22. I'm not great at time management, but I could tell she was rushing, and she cut it short. I asked Emmy if she did the micro dermabrasion near my milia's on my eyes and she said no I'm not gonna put scrub on your eyes. I understand the eye area is delicate. I have worked in several high and spas in resorts. These milia's were big enough to get to safely- I only made the appointment because I was told him I saw that the aesthetician would take care of them. Upon getting into the treatment room, after I laid down onto the bed and was greeted with a knock maybe 10 seconds after getting undressed- I felt rushed, pressured and uneasy. I just washed my hair, and when she started putting stuff in my face, I asked if she had a headband or towel to keep it out of my hair. Not only did she not have a headband in the room - when I requested one she said, "I think I have one out there.." (with the pregnant pause and subtext of "but I'm not going to go the extra mile." (When anyone who has gotten a facial or done one properly knows the hair must be out of a client's face.) My response: "Oh if it's far no worries..." She never got the headband and continued with her "facial." Emmy immediately told me she couldn't do a scalp massage and a hand massage (or she'd run out of time,) and I said "okay, great as long as you can do the extractions!" Emmy didn't explain at all what she was putting on my face while she was doing it there was no communication it was completely uncomfortable.. nor did she ask if I had any sensitivities or allergies. RED FLAG. Nor did she ask if I wanted oil in my hair for the scalp massage I asked Emmy to get rid of the milias on my cheeks initially, but upon leaving on my way out at the front on, (in the reception area because I noticed she either forgot or ignored my comment and my right cheek had redness and heavy irritation due to her poking at the milias and not finishing.) When I asked about the milias she avoided completely and the two she picked at..note: this was in the reception area she said "THAT'S TINY and I have another client.. so I have to go." Her response in the most uninterested/unprofessional and catty tone. I was shocked at the unprofessionalism I was given, not only because of my experience, working in spas and going to many ... But also because there were other clients and the reception area, as well as the (obviously nice but learning,) brand new receptionist. If I was the owner or manager at this establishment, I would be absolutely mortified. I was embarrassed on behalf of the owner because it's a really cute place. I'm leaving the review now because I'm back in Tennessee and I still have hyperpigmentation from where she picked at my milias

My scars are now orange instead of white - there is no camoflauge or blending with my skin at all. I went for a follow up and Zoe offered to remove the ink. I asked if I could get a partial refund since this service did not work and was so expensive. She said no. But offered a different treatment option to help with the scar texture that would also cost more than $1,000. Why would I invest more money into more services when the business doesn't even stand by the service already given? I said no to the ink removal process because I don't trust this business with my skin given how much worse things look now. I don't recommend the camo service. Too expensive and no guarantee of how it will look after. I didn't expect perfection, but I don't like that this place charges a premium for a service that may or may not look good. So I'm out $1,000 but lesson learned.

I had gigantic scabs and was left with two purple lines that faded to pink. After a year had passed, I went to see a microblader in Franklin who refused to cover up my brows. She said that they would first have to be lasered off, which comes with its own challenges. The plastic surgeon I saw said that there is no way to confirm the ingredients of the ink and warned that lasering my eyebrows might make them darker. He also mentioned a small risk of scarring. I decided that the risk wasn't worth it. I chose to live with pink brows ... until I found Olivia. Olivia Weir showcases her work on Instagram (oliviaweirsthings), and she is phenomenal. I've since talked to a surgeon and two facialists who have both confirmed that Olivia is one of two people in town they would recommend for microblading. She took one look at my jagged, pink brows and started working away like it was nothing. The process wasn't painful at all, which was so unlike my first experience in NYC. There is also no waiting around for numbing, she numbs as she goes. As far as healing, it was night and day from my first experience which was micropigmentation (using a tattoo gun) where microblading uses a blade. This alone made the process better (less scabbing), but Olivia also suggests a semi-wet healing process which is so much better than dry (what I did before). I was able to shower and wash my face and workout. It was heaven!!! In the end, I love my new brows so much. The first picture on the left is right after my first session, the second picture is healed, and the third is healed after my touch up. As I started with no eyebrows and we are covering up pink, I plan to go back for a third touch up as they are a little sparse in the middle, but I think most people will be able to get away with two sessions which is what is included in the initial fee. In general, the shape is great, the color is perfect, and there are hair strokes. They look so natural. I highly highly highly recommend Olivia. One final thought: When Olivia microblades, it is a very fast process. There isn't much of a consult which made me nervous. I stopped her after she had started and mentioned a couple of things that were important to me. She nodded her head and kept working. I thought for sure that she was ignoring me, but she totally took my input into consideration and did exactly what I had asked. Olivia has her own style and she sticks to that, but if there is something that is important to you, don't hesitate to mention it to her. It is your face after all!
