Cadillac Ranch - Early April 2025. Didn't expect for rain & snow storm in spring.

Being a native Texan who moved to Colorado in '99, I had driven by this place for years, going from home to home for holidays and other occasions. Finally, I took the turnoff. I don't guess I really knew what to expect when I arrived. There were cars parked along the road, running up and down a field with a paved path leading to an open plot. And then, they were. 10 cars buried at a steep slope, dripping in puddles of color, stand stark in the West Texas flat, dry dirt. It's weird. It's hokey. It's one of the most Texas things to ever be in Texas; I love it! If you like roadside attractions, this is totally worth the turnoff. If you're driving to or from Texas to Colorado, just do it. It's a fun solo excursion. It's a fun family excursion. There's something about adding to the paint and joining the living history of paint upon paint, upon paint. Only in Texas...

All the pics that make Cadillac Ranch look 'cool' are super zoomed in close-ups. It's 10 car-like blobs buried half way into hard-pack dirt and windy AF. Do not make a special trip here *unless* you are already in Amarillo for some other reason. Seriously.

Built in 1959 by high‑school shop teacher HarryWheeler to attract customers to his western-wear store Constructed from steel rebar, wire mesh, and concrete; originally clothed in real Levi jeans and an awning‑fabric shirt Due to high winds, traffic rerouting, a truck hitting his boot, and even his cigarette being shot off, Tex fell into disrepair through the decades. It's free and open 24/7, located just off US60 with parking, paths, historical signage, and a small park--ideal for a quick stop TexRandall is wonderfully oddball and iconic--a testament to Texas pride and roadside Americana. He's more than decoration; he's a beloved community effort, restored meticulously and honored with official landmark status. If you're passing through Canyon on US60, TexRandall is absolutely worth those 10-15minutes. A fun snapshot of Texan heritage that'll likely make you smile--and grab a great photo.

Located on the west side of Amarillo, Pondaseta's black brick building is sharp and modern for an older city like the Yellow City. Inside, there are two large spaces. One is where they brew all of their beers and it also functions as a space for music and guests. The main space is their taproom, where the back wall features a row of taps with all of their in house beers. There was a duo playing music in the other room, and there was a few other groups there. We played a very competitive game of Go Fish and really enjoyed the space there. For my first beer, I ordered the Mind The Gap, which was a bitter in an English pub style. I love a malty beer and it reminded me of some of my favorites. My girlfriend got a Pecan Porter that she really liked. It was dark and roasty. My next beer was their Tea Pilsner, which I never knew was a style of beer. This one was infused with hibiscus tea and I thought it was good. My girlfriend got their cherry lime seltzer. Not for me, but she enjoyed it. I will definitely be back the next time I am in Amarillo based on how great the drinks were. Thank you, Pondaseta.
