Think of it as a smaller, VW Bug version of Cadillac Ranch! The Bugs make for some really fun photos, and we went early in the morning when there weren't many people around. It was the perfect time to wander around and get pictures without having to wait for crowds to clear. They also have mini golf, which looked like it could be a fun way to spend a little more time here rather than just stopping for pictures. Route 66 stamp collectors, don't miss this one! They have a rubber stamp, and it's a really cute one featuring the Bug Ranch, VW Bugs and Route 66. We've been collecting stamps to mark our stops along our Route 66 road trip, so finding this one made the stop even better. A cute, quirky roadside attraction and definitely worth pulling over for on Route 66!

Though this was the first, I've spotted a dozen or so of these arrows here and there throughout the…read morePanhandle. They are the work of artist Charles A. Smith. The arrow shaft is made of 4-inch steel pipe. The feathers are made of quarter-inch rods. The arrow point itself is made of angle iron and heavy sheet metal. Charles says it takes two people two days to make one. It is 20 feet tall and makes for a pretty neat selfie. The caption at the foot of this arrow reads, "Comanches & other tribes followed Old Trails Ridge that became mail route, railroad, Route 66 & I-40. Arrow sculptor, Charles A. Smith". He's been installing them since 2004 and according to one article quoting the artist, "This project is the largest public art project in the United States. We cover 50,000 square miles in the 52 counties in the top of Texas. I'm really enjoying it. I've met so many great people. It's great to be a part of something that will be here for ages to come." The staff had found and secured it, and Nick at Six Car went above and beyond to help us get it back. He packaged it and took care of getting it shipped through FedEx after I sent him a prepaid label. When the purse arrived safely, we discovered that they had even included a Six Car T-shirt, mug, bandana, and stickers as a surprise. That's the kind of customer service and hospitality you remember.
