At first, we arranged companion care, which included medication reminders, transportation to appointments, and, just as importantly, having someone there to keep him company. As he improved and became more independent, the agency was able to adjust the level of care accordingly. We eventually moved to On Demand Care, primarily for transportation to appointments. I really appreciated that the care evolved with his needs rather than keeping him at a level of service he no longer required. The flexibility to adjust the care as his needs changed was incredibly valuable to us. Most of the caregivers were people he genuinely liked. They were consistently on time, respectful, helpful, and patient with him. Some personalities were a better fit than others, which is natural, but overall he was comfortable with them. I know he would be happy to see many of them if he ran into them out in public. What gave me the most peace of mind was knowing that the caregivers had been vetted through the agency and that I had someone to turn to if an issue ever came up. I communicated with the agency by text, phone, and email, and they were consistently responsive, respectful, and timely. If I had a concern or needed something addressed, they communicated with the caregiver directly. I never felt like I was left to figure things out on my own. I will admit that I was a little unsure in the beginning because of how professional they were. I have been disappointed and, frankly, burned by service providers in the past, so I was cautious. But this agency turned out to be the most prompt, punctual, and professional agency I have ever worked with. My grandmother is fairly independent and didn't like the idea of having a caregiver, but Pulse One assured me that they would find the right fit. Sure enough, the first person that they sent me was a match for my picky grandmother. She has been super helpful with everyday tasks, without making my nana feel dependent. I helped a psychotherapy client of mine move from another place in Hollywood where he was doing terribly. Within a few weeks of living at the Plaza, he came to life, making friends, looking much healthier, taking care of personal hygiene, all of which hadn't been happening for at least a year in the other place.
