After his COVID hospitalization, my father, in his 90's, needed full-time care. Through a referral, I contacted Mom's Home Care, and within a week they had arranged round-the-clock coverage with exceptional caregivers. The caregivers were reliable, compassionate, and attentive, providing outstanding care for my father. The case manager handled all logistics seamlessly, ensuring continuous coverage during vacations, illnesses, and unexpected situations. She was also a valuable source of practical advice throughout the process. As my father's dementia progressed, the team adapted to his changing needs and continued to provide excellent care all the way through to the end of his life including hospital stays and hospice care. Beyond the care itself, they were a calming and comforting presence for my father and gave me peace of mind when I wasn't there. Their care allowed my father to remain at home, which meant everything to our family. Thank you Mom's Home Care.

It was a stressful time as you can imagine. There are a lot of care decisions that need to be made and I had very little experience to fall back on. At the recommendation of a friend, I contacted Mom's Home Care. On that initial call they did a wonderful job explaining the process and answering our questions. Their guidance was invaluable and the care team they assembled was great. Thankfully, my dad is on his way to making a full recovery. The Mom's Home Care team was instrumental in making this possible.

She had a serious stroke, that left her with the worst prognosis. She would just stare into my eyes and clench my hand. She was so lonely and desperate for contact. Complicated by legal issues, I have watched caretakers and third parties not make her the priority. I joked that my mother didn't need a qualified companion. But a handsome young stud, never mind the credentials. Maybe I didn't really think that after a year and half, anyone could make a difference. I moved back to California for the first year to be with my mother. Before Cydney I was disappointed with too much mush. For example, "I love youing" my mother and hugging her. Feeding her like a baby. I felt mean saying please don't. She needs to learn to swallow to feed herself. What is the hurry? All she was doing was being cleaned, fed, and propped up. Yes people have been nice but that doesn't unlock my mother for her state of isolation. Real kindness and healing is something else. And I only saw a dependency that made ME feel helpless. I live out of state and had to go home. So I too am dependent on her caretakers. Cydney was hired by our great trustees because my mother needed activities, companionship and fun. But what she has gotten is so much more. And so have I. In the few months that my mother has been with Cydney. I feel like I have my mother back. Like she has made real progress and is genuinely happier, upbeat. I had given up. Medically I read where patients supposedly get to a certain stage and never improve. Some Medicare payment policy I think, and accepted that as canon. Cydeney's manner is so smart and kind without being syrupy and showy. She doesn't have to prove her connection with my mother. The proof is my mother. Taking my mother to the theatre, beach, doing craft projects. Doing brain exercises. I love that she asks mom questions. Is absolutely interested in her as a person. I can tell by the kinds of questions she asks that she really wants to know my mom. Jokes with her. Is really a friend. PLUS Mother is learning really great skills. She is using these new tools she has. I feel like I have my mom back. That we are actually communicating. I hate that feeling of talking at her. She needs to express herself. Cydney's gifts keep giving, i.e. her work lasts, even when she isn't present. Cydney also is the first caretaker to call me and put my mother and I on the phone together. Instead of cementing her relationship with my mother, she is doing what is best for my mother. I also love that she is conversant with and uses technology. If you have the opportunity to hire Cydney, you will be lucky. This woman is so special. Really over the top talented. She has the touch, the magic of healing.

Her care is not only top-notch quality, but there's a warmness to being around her that is hard to find among most care givers. Her sweet dog she uses for her unique pet therapy is a treat as well! I'd recommend Cydney to my colleagues and have already!

Our family member went through many years of depression due to a loss of a spouse resulting in sitting in front of TV on a day basis, which previously was the most active individual in their age group. We found a large assisted living place that in the beginning and saw some improvement, however within 7 months it got worse than before she left home. I hated to wake up and look at my phone because I was getting messages of falls, emergency hospital visits, and the list goes on. So, the family started having long conference calls every weekend on what to do? I decided to come to LA for about 5 days and find a place. I got a list of referrals and visited consistently some places more than once trying to make myself feel this is the right one. One day before leaving empty handed, I contacted Connections who set up an appointment with Rita the next morning before heading back home. Right off when you walk up to the property it looks like it is residential and blends nicely in the neighborhood, i.e. not big ugly signs. Next, you are greeted with Rita's smile, I am thinking please help us. She calm and warm. Her property inside and out is nicely maintained, and it was not overwhelming. I felt this was right. The sign for me was there, Rita had a spot and after the evaluation said the first thing is to get her eating. And a little over a month she is eating and smiling again, OK she does have her moments, but that has always been there. Still look at my phone first thing, but no messages except good ones. We were all prepared for the end, and Rita along with her group have put our family member what looks to be another chapter.

It feels like a home with roommates rather than a care facility and from the daily activities to the fresh home cooked meals, they work very hard to provide a homey, caring environment. Every need is taken care of in a professional and kind manner from dressing to personal hygiene to getting in and out of bed. Special requests are catered for and I have never heard the word "no" come from the staff or owner. Making a decision for senior care is a difficult one, especially in cases of memory loss and the onset of dementia. Shalom Garden is a spotlessly clean, very professionally run, small care facility that has made it possible for me to sleep much better at night knowing that my Mom is receiving such a high level of care. Thank you Rita and Shalom Garden!
