I am a current resident who's been at Bella Terra Wheeling for a little more than thirteen months. I have seen Mike, Kandi, Nikki, Yesenia, Jocelyn, Fran, and Michelle work very hard to keep this facility running. Many of the nurses and CNAs provide good support to care for the patients at this nursing/rehabilitation home. I have seen the staff as a team handle multiple situations to provide care and comfort for the patients. I also want to say that I am impressed with the Activity and Receptionist team members as they provide more layers of assistance and cohesiveness to help form a strong employee base. One of the benefits of living and recuperating at this facility is that the meals are decent. I lived at another home before transferring here and the food is actually much better. I get meals with chicken as the main course far more than I used to at the previous rehab center. And I get fresh salads more often as well. Bella Terra Wheeling also has staff members in place to help with setting up doctor appointments and transportation. For an independent person like myself, I don't utilize all of the services available but I am very glad that many residents do have access to these benefits. Unfortunately, my experience felt contrary to this principle. On multiple occasions, I was asked to accept shifts that required lengthy commutes, transforming my role into something akin to that of an "Uber driver" rather than allowing me to engage in meaningful caregiving. One particular incident stands out: I was sent to a location where no client was present, as the company had arranged a ride without confirming the appointment. After attempting to contact the "24-hour emergency line" for over half an hour without any response, I found myself needing the assistance of police officers to reach the correct site. This experience highlighted the inadequacies in communication and support within the company, and to my disappointment, I received no acknowledgment or apology for the distress it caused. When I resigned, I requested to receive my final paycheck for all hours worked, yet I only received payment for one day. HR informed me that the remaining pay would be processed in the next pay period, which seemed inconsistent and unfair. Such practices may undermine the trust and morale of employees who are dedicated to their roles. I genuinely believe that Freedom Home Care has immense potential to create a positive impact in the lives of both its clients and staff. To realize this potential, it is crucial to foster a culture of empathy, clear communication, and fair treatment throughout the organization. These changes would not only benefit employees but ultimately enhance the quality of care provided to clients. The last week of her life Red and Gloria helped me through it all. and Gisela and her staff at the Waverly as well. The social worker Stephanie, was actually there in the room when my Mom took her last breath. She looked so beautiful, Gloria would dress her, put a little blush & lipstick on and when she passed, she looked like an angel, Both of these places are so wonderful. I want to clarify that my concerns are not about the nurses or CNAs; it is the administration that is entirely corrupt. I urge everyone to request their medical records and read every detail carefully. The lies, misinformation, immaturity, and irresponsible behavior I encountered were unacceptable. I am a 58-year-old daughter who lost my mom, and instead of offering support, they made my grief and panic even worse. I do not recommend this organization because of the administration--particularly people like Timothy Dance--not because of the dedicated nurses and CNAs involved in my mom's care.
