We had literally the best experience with Dr Elassar and her entire staff. She was very confident and scientific which was such a positive for us. She literally guided us through getting pregnant and the first stage of our pregnancy, and didn't take any chances - the second a number from the lab tests came off a bit off she was all over it. If an outcome was bad she was never mopy, and had a positive encouraging attitude. She also didn't push any unnecessary invasive treatments and made us feel that we're in control of the entire process. We were actually sad to stop seeing her after we switched to our OB (which she recommended and was amazing). We really feed that we owe her so much! read more

I found Dr Elassar to be very brusque and hurried in our initial consult. She told me upfront not to email her directly and address questions only to staff. She also was rather rude when I asked a simple question about fibroids, as I was not familiar with how they form. I am honestly confused by all the rave reviews about her bedside manner because the first impression she gave was horrible. Please note I'm not looking for someone to hold my hand and coddle me but there was a distinct impression I got that she wasn't actually interested in any of my concerns or questions. The office was also disorganized and could not follow a simple email thread about a possible plan for next steps After two visits that was enough for us and we did not pursue anything further. We are forever thankful for Dr. Alyaa and our little man who is now a few months old! Searching for a fertility doctor is no easy feat. I did a lot of research before deciding to reach out to NYCIVF. One of the many important aspects for me was not feeling like a number and to be able to have a more personalized experience with both the Dr. and members of the team. As soon as I called NYCIVF I felt like we would be taken care of. We were able to get an appointment within a short time frame, they looked into whether our insurance was accepted and were personable on the phone. Upon meeting Dr. Alyaa, I (for the first appt I went by myself as my husband was traveling) could tell she was a highly educated individual with confidence, faith and warmth. She wanted to get to know who we were and help us get to our end goal of having a baby. She right away put me at ease that I was not "old" (34) and that everything would work out fine. We also decided to start tests right away as there was no point in waiting. I really liked her go ahead attitude. In the end my husband and I underwent IVF and were successful on the 2 FET (no one's fault on the 1st, it just happens and is poor luck). Our pregnancy occurred about 6 months after the initial appt (very quick!!) Below are a number of reasons why I would choose NYCIVF for your fertility needs: 1) Dr. Alyaa is incredibly smart and wonderful at what she does. She keeps your spirits up during an emotional rollercoaster of a time 2) Dr. Alyaa does what is best for you and your partner and getting you to the end goal of pregnancy as quickly as possible. She will not have you go through IUI first unless she thinks there is a chance for success. 3) The team knows how to deal with insurance - this was one of our biggest complaints, our insurance company, like many can be a pain! They handled corresponding with them an insuring procedures and medicines were properly covered. 4) If you call, the team knows you on a first name basis you are by no means a number 5) The office is small and you will only see Dr. Alyaa. I never had to wait for my appt. I was always taken right away. 6) The office is really pretty and welcoming! Its location is in a nice area and the office and operating room are kept clean and sterile. 7) Dr. Alyaa responds to emails in RAPID speed, as does the rest of the team 8) Appts can be scheduled at your convenience. They are flexible to help those who are in demanding jobs and can only step away prior to work or during lunch time We will forever be thankful for Dr. Alyaa and the team. We still keep in touch and plan to as they become and amazing part of the pregnancy journey. I would recommend NYCIVF without a doubt to anyone who is struggling with fertility. I write this review with a lot of disappointment. I came to this dr based upon the reviews i found on Yelp, google, etc and I'm sad to say i didn't have nearly the same experience as the reviews below me. 1. Bedside manner A. In my scenario I had 6 blastocysts after retrieval. However, 4 out of 6 were low quality, not yet expanding blasts that were too weak to even be PGT tested. When I asked the DR initially at our first consultation about PGT she stated she doesn't believe in PGT and doesn't find it useful... fast forward, mid cycle she stated PGT is a good idea, complete 180 about PGT testing. Then, after my retrieval when it was time to decide upon PGT, she couldn't give a firm opinion one way or the other based on my history - her response was you have to decide - which, I totally understand the ultimate decision is mine but I felt I wasn't guided based on my history and was just told - "your call" --- after much deliberation with myself, I decided not to PGT test, so then the plan was ok - just freeze all embryos regardless of their grade/expansion/quality and transfer all under the notion that perhaps my uterus will be a better place for the embryos to grow instead of a petri dish.... Fast forward to my 3rd transfer (1st one was a chemical and 2nd one failed) - I had 3 poor quality embryos left. The Dr asked me if I wanted to transfer them all or thaw prior to transfer to see which grow and only transfer those that grow overnight. The embryologist stated that its better to see which grow and only transfer those... I asked her what she thought and she said verbatim "I agree with the embryologist" I asked her why and she said "embryologist knows best" .... MY QUESTION IS, then why the hell did I freeze all in the beginning bc "they grow better in your body" if on the last transfer, I'm literally thawing a day before anyway??? Had I known that, OF COURSE I would have PGT tested and saved myself a lot of time, money and agony. It just amazed me how her entire viewpoint changed bc the embryologist said so??? Was the plan discussed with the embryologist in the beginning? B. when we were discussing transfer, I said let me call my husband and the dr rudely said "why, is there something he can help you with? Why do you need him to make a decision?" I was shocked C. My second transfer, I wasn't told I'd need endometrin suppositories until literally the day before I started taking them and then I had to go to 5 different pharmacies to see if they were available... I called the staff to have them keep changing the pharmacy because it wasn't available and all I hear in the background is yelling between the staff and the DR. It was extremely unprofessional and a ridiculous scenario that could have been avoided if I was given these prescriptions ahead of time 2. Scheduling - NYCIVF does not have monitoring hours bc there is on DR who does everything. The nice thing about monitoring hours at other clinics is that you are done with bloodwork and ultrasound prior to the start of your work day... here, you can't come in until AFTER 9:30 AM. Billing - OMG WHAT A NIGHTMARE. I was told by staff (who no longer work there) that my insurance covers 4 retrievals and transfers. I even asked Haley whether this is true even though NYCIVF is a an out of network provider, and she confirmed that they would be using in network rates. A lay persons understanding of that means, ok well in service providers are 100% covered and if I am being told I will get "in person rates" - my retrieval and transfers are covered. WRONG. Out of network barely covered half of each transfer!!! Moreover, they make you pay the entire transfer amount upfront and multiple weeks after the transfer will refund you whatever insurance covered. This is a bizarre practice, most clinics will charge you only what insurance doesn't cover upfront... not make you pay the whole thing and then refund you. Moreover, trying to get the refund was always a headache, multiple phone calls, emails etc and they wouldn't even mail me the check. I had to come pick it up!! Lastly my 3rd transfer was not covered at all my insurance because i transferred 3 embryos at once- WHY WASN'T I TOLD THIS?! 4. Transfer timing - my 3rd transfer was over an hour delayed. I understand this can happen, but the annoying part was the day before the transfer I came in for routine bloodwork and scan to ensure I could transfer the next day - and I had an hour delay then too!! I was told there was an emergency. Then the next day, I come in for the transfer and again and emergency ensued causing an hour delay. 5. Overall - I think the Dr. is intelligent, but I think there was a lot of things that could have been done differently to save me time, money and agony. I was also unimpressed with her protocol if I were to do a second retrieval with NYCIVF - which was just "we'll increase menopur" without doing further testing etc. Overall, the experience was extremely underwhelming. read more

Dr, Elassar was recommended to me by my obgyn when my husband and I were having trouble getting pregnant. I found her to be a wonderful doctor to work with. After running some initial tests she was honest with me about the challenges I might face with my fertility, but confident that she would still be able to get me pregnant. The costs associated with IVF were also outlined to me by one of her staff, so there were no surprise expenses along the way. There were numerous appointments ahead of us on our fertility journey, but in the vast majority of instances I never had to wait more than a few minutes to be seen by her and her friendly, professional team. One of the nice things was that you were always seem by the Doctor herself, who greeted you with a smile. Any questions or concerns after the visits were responded to quickly, even out of regular office hours. Over the months we were seeing Dr. Elassar, I really felt she went above and beyond for us. Dr. Elassar was both detail oriented and creative, making adjustments to the IVF protocol when necessary to produce a more optimum result. At the end of it all, my husband and I welcomed a beautiful baby girl. We will be forever grateful to Dr. Elassar and her team for their amazing support during what was a pretty challenging time in our lives. read more

Dr. Alyaa Elassar and her entire team were amazing! We would recommend her without a doubt and know that she played a big part in us finally achieving our dreams of having a family! The IVF process is a tough one, usually filled with ups and downs, and a lot of anxiety and heartache. Like many others like us, when we started having difficulty in getting pregnant, we didnt know where to turn or whether to go to a large, well established place, or a smaller private practice. Everyone is different and has unique needs, but my husband and I were very turned off by the experience of the large well known places, and besides wasted time / effort / money, later on found out that the advice given to us was not actually in our best interest. After giving up hope we ultimately stumbled upon Dr. Alyaa Elassar and are we glad we did! From the start, the doctor and her team were very warm and inviting, always patient to explain to us our options, and we never felt like we were just another "number". You see Dr. Elassar every time, which I think is a big benefit. Not just whichever doctor is on the schedule who have skimmed your records. The doctor would email us personally with certain results, and shared in our disappointment when things didn't always go as we wanted. We did two cycles of egg retrieval and two transfers. After the first transfer failed, Dr. Elassar took the time to sit down with us and brainstorm how we should approach the next transfer. The rest of the team (especially Racquel) is also great, each appointment (for which there are many) was always super efficient, and her office is very warm and inviting. Everything ended up working out great, and my husband and I now have a fully healthy baby boy and we couldn't be happier! At the end of the day, the process is long and difficult, and so much of it can be mental - it is super important to be in the best headspace possible and to feel like you're being taken care of and on the right path. I'm 20wks pregnant with twins! At the end of the day, this is what matters most. I got exactly what I came for. Now for my experience... Gorgeous building, clean spacious office with a view. My first appointment was enlightening, we didn't skip a single detail. Dr Elassar was sharp, witty and fast paced. The office staff was sweet, seemed like a lot of girls learning the ropes but after so many appts we bonded. We had a million questions come up. They were super fast to respond to our emails or phone calls and didn't act like we were a nuisance. The best part was working with the same doctor and the same office staff every single time. The pricing is for this office and doesn't include the cost of meds, bloodwork and your copays or storage. So I just think it's important to note the cost all in for us was about 30k and I recently learned you can list this on your taxes so make sure you ask about that when you file! Lastly even though I graduated to an OB, they still keep in touch and helped me with questions. I feel so grateful for Dr Elassar help and would recommend this place for in-vitro! read more

I must caveat my review by saying I did not take any treatment here so I can't speak of her technical skill or other related stuff. I just went to interview her on her approach on my case. She recommended the most expensive and invasive treatment and I was surprised given wr don't have "major" issues. Probably her approach would statistically bring us close to pregnancy faster but who knows - there is no guarantees in this journey. She seems very approachable and smart. If i would choose advanced techniques i would probably choose her as she seems pretty confident. As we were finishing up the conversation she asked if i wanted to do any testing today and i was thinking if i should . Then she says "do you want to . I have other patients waiting". That did it for me. Easy decision. Im not going back. When i didn't go back to her and I didnt want to progress with her approach her office calls me back on making an appt. I flatly said I don't agree with her Approach. She then calls me saying she is following up and she didn't say the most advanced technique is the only option (mind you.. She was not willing to talk to me about more basic treatments during my initial meeting) and she would be willing to work with me. "I went by numbers but we are all human, if we need to tweak something I will do it". So where was all this in my initial appointment ? I refused again to go back as I can't trust that place with my body. read more

After a negative and disappointing experience with another doctor (difficulty egg freezing), my experience with Dr. Elassar was more than I could have ever expected. If you are having fertility issues (particularly unexplained), Dr. Elassar is your woman! She sits down and does a thorough review of you, your body, lifestyle and habits. She then works with you on a comprehensive treatment plan, and is incredibly versatile in responding to your body throughout the process. She was always responsive (almost too so - poor Doctor!) and answered all of my questions extensively. She's the only doctor you will ever meet with and she's always the one who does all of your treatments. I don't know what else to say. 7 months ago I had my second egg transfer with Dr. Elassar and I am now 7 months pregnant with my second child. I feel so incredibly lucky and fortunate all over again. Dr. Elassar and her team are just as professional and compassionate as they were during my first transfer. They walked me through every step of the transfer, working with me on my nerves about the second transfer, and just being all around good people. I saw Dr. Elassar every appointment and she is just so detail oriented and knowledgeable, that it makes the world of difference when going through this process. The office is very good about fitting in appointments, especially on short notice, which is very much appreciated for someone like me with a busy work schedule. Amazing doctor FEEL INCREDIBLY LUCKY to have met her. Do not go elsewhere and waste your time. She is the best in the city. After spending time at RMA with a failed IVF and failed IUI, I came to her based on reviews and my gyno recommendation. Below are things she offers that are incredibly hard to find 1) PERSONALIZED ATTENTION: When I say personalized I mean she is your primary contact ALL the time. Replying to e-mails at ODD hrs if needed. She also really studied by treatments at RMA and provided a personalized approach that resulted in a POSITIVE! While reviewing my RMA files she was just so fast at picking up and remembering facts that are important to my treatment. Like no information was lost by switching clinics and she actually did something different from the learning's at RMA. When I asked RMA if they will change the approach for the next IVF cycle they just said NO and it was going to be luck. 2) EXCEPTIONALLY SMART BUT HUMAN: She is whip smart but actually very human and explains things clearly. I went to docs with fancy IV league degrees and fellowships but they couldn't explain much and honestly she is just smarter. If your someone who needs to know the details she really is great. 3) GREAT BEDSIDE MANNER: Her clinic staff and doctor have great bedside manners and always respectful of your time. 4) DOESN'T SELL YOU WHAT YOU DON'T NEED: This is a huge plus in the IVF world (as its already an expensive treatment) and she really explains why you don't need to do another unnecessary procedure which another IVF clinic sold us for thousands 5) GREAT CLINIC AND STAFF: The clinic is brand new and so pleasurable to visit. They take appointments with no wait unlike bigger clinics where your waiting for hours and hours. Invoicing etc is super simple since you have two contact staff who are just adorable and reachable. 6) GREAT ATTITUDE: Fertility treatments are tough and she is so zen and calm and makes you feel like there is a LOT of hope.This is so crucial as other clinics just old me my eggs are old and its just going to be tough etc. This makes a huge impact on your journey and outlook. Dr Elassar is amazing. I went to her because of her great Yelp reviews and wasn't disappointed. She is very warm and approachable and never rushes the visits. She was very focused on getting me pregnant and we succeeded on the second try. She always answered emails and called back, even out of office hours. If you are looking for a focused fertility doctor who will take care of you the whole way, this is the doctor you need. Unlike other clinics where you see a different Doctor each time, Dr Elassar does everything herself, even draws the blood. The receptionist is also good. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who is trying to get pregnant. I would go back to her in a heartbeat. I feel very fortunate to have found Dr. Elassar. I am not surprised to see that everyone here has given her 5 stars; I would give her 7 stars if that was an option. The whole practice is great - with a caring, friendly, and helpful team. Dr. Elassar herself is simply fantastic. Not only is she amazingly competent and knowledgeable, she is very caring and puts the patient's well-being (mental, physical, financial) above everything else. She takes the time to explain things in great detail, and customizes personalized treatment to one's specific needs, rather than mass-production factory approaches (like others have mentioned here, I, too had a bad experience with RMA). Dr. Elassar knows my file inside out, and despite my complicated medical history (thyroid disease) and age (early 40s) she did not write me off and went to great lengths customizing protocols for me. I was able to get pregnant because of the protocols she designed for me. She is very hands-on and has a no-nonsense down-to-earth approach, which is very refreshing and reassuring. You immediately get the feeling that you're in very good hands. Not to mention she responds to emails very promptly even at odd hours and nights and weekends. In a word, she's perfect. My husband and I had been trying to get pregnant for two years before we met with Dr. Elassar. We were anxious, desperate and in need of a doctor who was in touch with the mental and emotional strain inflicted during this never-wracking process. We had met with a few IVF doctors prior to meeting Dr. Elassar and were turned off by their sales pitch and impersonal approach to the procedure. Everything changed when me met Dr. Elassar, a referral from a close friend. Bedside manner is key for me and in that department, among many others, Dr. Elassar excelled. I never felt rushed meeting with her, she always answered all of my questions and made me feel comfortable and was 100% encouraging and supportive of my feelings and decisions. Adilene and Tahira on her staff were equally as helpful and supportive and going to her office felt like visiting family towards the end. I cannot recommend Dr. Elassar enough.
