Gina came highly recommended by a friend and upon meeting her, she was lovely and we instantly got along. I hired Gina to help manage my move from Santa Clara to San Diego. We wanted a moving company to move our things and pack, load, and unload our items. She recommended You Move Me. I trusted her, so I went with her referral and booked them with her to help manage my move since my husband and I couldn't stay with the movers to watch them pack the day of our move. We had communication issues with the company's owner from the get-go with the contract he initially sent us, but Gina smoothed things over and assured me not to worry and that on the day of our move, she would manage and watch the team like a hawk. I stayed with Gina for 3 hours the morning of our move before my son and I took off to the airport. Everything seemed to be okay. The movers were to pack our belongings and arrive the following day to unload and reassemble our furniture. Gina texted me with updates all along the way. Our nightmare began when the movers arrived the next day. Our items were just thrown into boxes with no order. Even the two drivers who came that day to unload our things were appalled at how our items were packed and labeled. There was no organization to any of the boxes packed. Wardrobe boxes were used to pack heavy kitchen appliances. My clothes on hangers were thrown into garbage bags and strewn all over the truck floor. I put this on the moving company, but I also blame Gina. I hired her to manage my move and watch over the team! When I texted her the night of the unloading, all she could say was she was sorry and that this had never happened before, which only upset me. This wasn't just about items being damaged or items that went missing. We could get over that - it's just things. The worst part is we feel entirely violated. We trusted Gina. Her sole responsibility was to watch over the moving team. As I open each box, I'm gutted to see how there was no care in our things. Even a simple task of asking her to remind the team not to take two boxes we left behind for our landlord, was package and brought onto the truck. Not a big deal, but it was a hassle for my husband to carry the items with him when he flew back a few days later. It's just not ok, especially when we paid her a lot of money to save us the hassle and stress. I wanted to like Gina and even thought about hiring her to help me organize my new home, but not after this debacle. It hurts me to say this, but I don't trust her, especially the moving company she hired, You Move Me (Southbay - see my review on them). Please stay away from Both and save yourself the hassle and heartbreak. read more

When packing for a move, you hope that you will be efficient, strong, and resourceful so you can pack things quickly, safely, and cost-effectively. In reality, you're likely going to dread doing it and take forever, get overwhelmed with other aspects of moving and lose momentum quickly, and pack everything in used material because you don't want to buy new moving supplies, but may pay for it later with broken things.
