Road trip, Day #2.
Actually they are located at 311 N. Butte. In the middle of farmland USA, where population counts are a mere 3 digits. We met under duress.
Driving up Hwy 5 minding my own business. Cal Trans doing a major ovehaul on the road. They call it, road rehabilitation. Should I be looking for less than law abiding pavement?
Whack. A medium sized stone jumps up and smacks us on the windshield.
Big chip. We gawk in disbelief as a large crack starts developing.
To the rescue - cell phones and GPS. A little dot on a map called Willows had three windshield repair shops. I wonder why? Is there collusion with Cal Trans? So, Josh arrived at Alves Door (and glass/windshield repair) within 20 minutes of our arrival. My savior! Him and nice Connie who talked us in.
In and out in 15 minutes, charged only $35. Got off cheap, considering that once I got back on the freeway, there was the CHP with his speed radar clocking cars. I would have been going 80, if it weren't for that little stone.
Now, our windshield has only a small gash, just a small reminder of the swift action of a small town guy named Josh. Thank you.
On the road again! read more
