Terrible customer service. This was my second time going and figured I would give them another chance because they weren't friendly my first visit. I was outside and no one came out to ask if I needed assistance. So I went inside and the guy working seemed irritated I was there. I was interrupting his play time on the computer. I showed him the plant I wanted in the planter I bought. If it wouldn't work, okay fine but his attitude was ridiculous and tone condescending. He kept asking the same quiet job that I answered twice already so he wasn't listening. I told him that was my second time there and both times the service was awful. He just waved bye. Terrible customer service. Will never go back no matter how close it is to me. Go to Plant Daddy. Service there and the selection is much better. read more

I have spoke to them three times to find a particular plant. They always say "give me a day or two to locate it with suppliers" and then they never call me back, although they said they would each time. :( It's sad because I love supporting our local businesses. read more

It was my best friends birthday 2 days ago. It's covid. Joe exotic may have killed Carole Baskin. It's a crazy time. People are literally hoarding toilet paper, BUT it was my best friend's bday and I had to deliver. I live in NJ, and my girl is in Miami. I called around to a bunch of different places and got nowhere. Delivery, what? No, we are closed. We don't have plants.. only flowers. We are too small time, call a bigger nursery. These were literally all answers I received. I gave Alton Road Nurseries a shot. Not only did he give me ideas in my price point, but he sent multiple pictures of plants. Once I picked out the particular bottle palm I wanted, he sent me multiple pictures of pots in all different price points. He then delivered it to my best friends lobby within 2 hours (maybe even less). I kid you not... I keep getting videos of how happy they are with the tree... no joke.. They are pleasant enough but are awful at customer service. Staff is inexperienced and give advice and instructions on plant care that is just plain wrong. Do not buy from them unless you know exactly how to supervise an installation because if you trust it to them it may or may not be done properly. Also, make sure you do your homework about what plants will do well in your environment and not require more care or sun or shade. Again, you cannot rely on anything they tell you because they just seem to make stuff up. Also, don't count on them standing behind what they sell you. They don't. After my experience with them and offering them the opportunity to make it right, i will not buy anything from them again and advise you not to as well. read more

I received some seeds as a gift, and not having a green thumb at all, managed to google my way to a preschool seed sprouting project, then had these little seedlings that needed some "dirt and a good sized pot".... I was completely lost about what that meant, and really wanted some plants that smelled nice for my balcony. Thanks to Eric, I am now the proud owner of a little potted herb garden and my baby jasmines have "good sized pots and dirt"! Service is absolutely A++, I wouldn't have paid much less if I had gone to a big box store, and I certainly would not have made new friends on the beach, or gotten this sort of service! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, location is fairly easy to access even considering municipal construction on Alton Road, and prices seem reasonable to me considering not a big box business. However beware of installation services and subsequent customer service. My prized plant out of the 6 I purchased there was not potted properly and has been struggling for months. Despite phone calls, proof of the issue in the form of documented pictures and an (admittedly tardy) in-person visit on my part to rectify the issue, Alton Road Nurseries seems to elevate a few bucks (cost of a service visit though I live only 4 miles away) over the integrity of their reputation and future business prospects. This is not an irate off-the-cuff rant session but merely a strong word of caution. There are other nurseries in town and I wonder if your time and investment money might be better served elsewhere. read more

Last year for Thanksgiving I bought two plants from This store as well as the pots for which I paid a good amount of cash. The plants were delivered with no problem. A month passed by and one of the plants started dying. I went back to the store and the manager was very nice. He told me to send him pics and email that way he could help me with the situation. I sent the pics and no answer ten days so I went back next weekend and the owner was there. I was very happy so he could him to help me. He agreed to replace my plant but there will be a full charge for the services the same amount I paid before. I found it not acceptable he said that the plant was not getting wind which is not the case.I am a business owner as well and I treat my clients w respect his answer was if I was not happy with his service I could take my business somewhere else. I've been to a few nurseries at this point and have to say I was a little disappointed with the selection of plants they had... also wasn't too thrilled about the price but honestly that shouldn't even come as a surprise if you shop on South Beach where everything is always way more expensive than anywhere else! This time I was on the hunt for a "Snake Plant" one that was small since a lot of the ones I'd been seeing around were huge, like the kind you have hanging around on your balcony or your yard. I was looking for one that was small enough to fit on my night stand since these plants help with sleep and purifying the air in a space. I found a few that were a decent size, a little larger than I had hoped but I could make it work. They weren't in the best condition, they looked a little beat up if you ask me and dry but what deterred me from taking it home was the price... $20! I'd definitely check out other locations if you want a good deal and more variety. This place is cute and will suffice if you live on the beach and don't have any other options but if you have a car or don't mind lugging around plants on the bus I'd go somewhere else :-) read more

Amazingly friendly staff who were so helpful!!! I purchased a plant for my balcony and the staff explained all of my options and took the time to give me the pros and cons of each variety. They even bagged it for me so it wouldn't damage my seats in my car and brought it out to my car for me. I did notice there seems to be only two parking spots on the street but when i arrived both were open...I suspect parking could be an issue however. read more

They have different kinds of succulents every time I come and today has the most exotic cacti I've ever seen. They had just closed when I got there and let me come in to buy the ones I liked! AVOID DOING ANY BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!! I purchased three overpriced plants here two months ago. The manager, Dave, was very nice and knowledgeable and committed that if we had any issues, we could bring the plants back to him. One of the plants was too big for its pot and about a week later, I purchased a larger planter and Dave re-potted the plant for me. Shortly after this the re-potted plant started to die so I hustled over to get help from Dave but encountered the owner, Gus. Gus told me he doesn't take returns and to get lost. Finally, after some back and forth he agreed to take the plant and nurse it back to health, "in a few weeks". He took my number and said he would call me when it was ready for pick up. I never heard back from him, so I returned to the store and was told by Gus that the plant died on his watch (so much for his green thumb) but as a favor I could pick out any plant and he would give me a 20% discount. What an AS#@!$!! BTW - Home Depot/Lowes have a one-year guarantee on their very reasonably priced plants and have a much better selection. read more

Set up on-location installation of planter materials and service was late and not well done (especially considering $175 install charge plus materials for sloppy 15 minutes of work) . Bought a plant and pot from here less than 2 months ago, the sales associated planted it for me and the plant is already dead. Spoke to manager and they said there was nothing they were willing to do. Such a same for a local business to behave that way.
