Nice dog park with plenty of room for the pooches to run around. Water entry into the canal is just outside the gate, but people seem pretty chill about letting the dogs go in off leash (assuming they're well behaved).

This is a beautiful big dog park with squirrels abounding. There are 2 entrances with water and bags at both. The park is very green and they keep up on the replanting of the grass. Overall the park is clean and it's easy for humans to run and play with their pup. This park holds a special place in my heart because this is the first dog park we went to in Oregon. As long as there isn't a ducks game be sure to check this beautiful off leash dog park out.

Larger area for dogs to run around. A few areas are restricted, however they're trying to regrown some trees which will lead to more shade in time. Often the two water spots for the pups gets a little dirty so if your worried about water, bring your own. River is right across the park Incase you want your pup to take a dip instead.

This dog park is located in the fabulous Alton Baker Park, right across from Autzen Stadium. It is off-leash! And the biggest dog park I have ever been to. Here are a few reasons why it's amazing: 1. Huge, enclosed area 2. Kiddie pools for the dogs to play in 3. Grass! (instead of dirt most dog parks have) 4. Rock paths for people to walk on, thus less likely to step in poo 5. Every time I have been there, the dogs were very friendly

This is such a great dog park! There are two huge area with tons of room for the pup to run around and play. Our little guy loves to run around, sniff, pee, and play here. There are a few benches scattered around if owners want to sit and watch their furry friends play. Each side has a water/trash can area. I like that the owners are attentive and friendly. Everyone watches their dog and/or walks with them from one area to the next. We come here all the time and it's our favorite in Eugene. The only down side is the parking lot (across from Autzen); it has tons of potholes. Also on days when there's a sports event at Autzen, this parking lot is full. We try to avoid it on game days.

We were visiting from out of town and found this park not far from our hotel. What a find! Great open location. Huge! Lots of shade and different areas for the dogs to play. Right outside of the dog park are multiple trails to explore, but the dog will need to be leashed outside of the designated dog part area. Parking can be difficult, so have some patience. It's a popular spot.

Skinner's Butte Park - Willamette River

Skinner (not Skinner's) Butte Park is the the location of the homestead of Eugene's founder, named…read moreEugene Skinner, and is one of the city's oldest parks. It's a large park right on the banks of the Willamette River and offers a variety of activities. There's the playground, RiverView Discovery Village, which is fairly large and has some pretty cool. It has various structures for kids to play on and around, representing storefronts, a stagecoach, and so on. There's the typical slides and swings and stuff that you'll find at a playground as well. They also have a "splash pad", which is a circular pipe sticking out of the ground about 10 feet, but it does spray so I guess it's something. The park fronts the river, and although the playground is not immediately on the bank of the river it's close enough that you'll want to keep a close watch on your children (every year there are tragedies along the Willamette). There is no fencing or anything around the playground, which seems like a no-brainer in this location but I guess not, and that's why I give the three-star rating instead of four. It's just a really nerve-wracking park especially for parents of small children. There could be more picnic tables around the playground... there's at least three, but that may be it. There's lots of green space for folks to spread out on the grass as well, which several people were doing whilst we were here celebrating my daughter's birthday. There was a drum circle that showed up about 20 minutes before we left as well and that was kinda cool. Part of the general park area are the Columns, remnants of a basalt quarry that existed for a few decades in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and is a pretty popular spot for rock climbing. It's a short distance from the playground area. I went with a class as a middle schooler and was not too keen on climbing myself. Then there's the titular Butte, which one can hike to the top or drive. I've never hiked up myself, but the drive is sometimes closed to traffic when fires are a concern. There are biking trails, a community garden, and the Campbell Senior Center is on the eastern edge of the park as well. There are bathrooms here, and although I didn't go into them my sister and friend did and apparently they're kinda weird--no doors on the stalls. I suppose that must be some sort of safety measure? It's fairly odd, regardless. There's a fairly decent sized parking lot to the east of the playground as well, and parking along the southern end of the park (at the base of the Butte).

It's always a nice time at Skinner's Butte Park no matter what time of year it is. A little colder…read moreon the path by the river, but still a breath of fresh air!

I searched Yelp to see if this park had any reviews and understand possibly why it never was added…read more My theory is, anyone who has been here with there dog wants to keep it a secret to themselves. I myself had this concern but this is my second visit and decided to share this hidden gem. Parking is limited and I mean limited. Hopefully I'm as lucky the 3rd time when visiting Zumwalt. I don't want to figure out where to park offsite. Once your parked and ready to go you'll notice a roadway however the gate is locked for any motor vehicle to drive on. This is a plus since many dog owners take dogs off leash and walk down this road to get to main area of park. The park is huge but keep in mind to those sensitive dog owners who don't want any dogs near their precious dog this is an open park. No secured areas for small dogs. Go at your own risk. I think because of the large open property there is less anxiety for the dogs because they don't feel trapped. Three things you'll find, water to swim, open green grass to run, and trails to walk your dog off leash which I really find fun since most trails require dog to be on leash. That being said, if you found this post keep it hush hush to ourselves (LOL). I shared some photos and videos of the lake, trails and park. Hope this helps. By the way the water had light waves but yesterday the water was calm. Enjoy and let me know how it went

A Beautiful Return to a Place Full of Nature and History…read more Both my wife and I had visited this spot before when we lived in the area, so with a little time to spare before lunch nearby, we decided to revisit it with her son and daughter-in-law. Nestled on a forested butte just east of the University of Oregon in Eugene, this area is absolutely stunning. The rhododendron garden is especially beautiful, offering a peaceful and scenic escape that feels tucked away from the city. Beyond its natural beauty, the area is steeped in history. One of the most notable connections is to Steve Prefontaine--a legendary runner and seven-time NCAA champion for Oregon. He trained in and around Hendricks Park and tragically passed away in a car accident on a winding road just below the park. His legacy lives on not only in the running world but also in the early success of Nike, where he became the brand's first sponsored athlete and helped elevate it to global prominence. Whether you're a nature lover, a history buff, or just looking for a quiet place to explore, this area is well worth a visit.

I grew up in the Cal Young area or Santa Clara, so I wasn't very often in this part of town and though Eugene isn't a huge city, you can easily not hit other areas of town. Hendricks Park is the oldest park in the city. It's mostly known as a rhododendron garden, but it has native plants as well. There are trails throughout for you to explore the place. It's really peaceful and beautiful when the weather is nice, and you'll forget you're in the city.
